Right and Disney+ is not one of the Big Three. You could add RU-vid but if you do that then Hulu would have to be dropped out as it is nowhere as big as any of the other three.
No doubt there are now other apps that are equally large, now. But, at the outset of streaming in America, those three companies are the ones I most associated with the business.
I'll bet Disney+ will add more titles from Hulu including Modern Family, Dragon Ball franchise, Digimon, One Piece, The Act and many more after Disney fully merged with Hulu. From this moment on, there is no more licensing issues.
I don't see The Act going, since it was initially produced by Universal and Comcast, even though I would love to see it on Disney! It is one of my favorite Hulu produced shows!!
Bob Iger should have purchased the entirety of Hulu from Comcast years ago. There was a time when Comcast was scoffing at the potential for streaming and Iger probably could have scooped up the rest of the service at a marked discount.
Hulu itself: fold it into Disney Plus and make it a hub no matter what tier it is. Hulu Plus Live TV: Sell it back to the original creator or to a service like RU-vidTV. Get rid of the NEXT DAY ON HULU stuff. That’s archaic. At this point in tv and media history, have it either streamed on the Disney Plus platform or put it the Hulu hub immediately following the airing. Roger, I do have a question. Do you see shows like Smallville staying on Hulu with Disney Plus or leaving and going back to their studios like a Warner Bros Discovery? I feel like Smallville and other shows like it are valuable and I could see them making deals ro keep them on the service. I asked this awhile back but do you think the possibility of keeping a show like Smallville is greater now or would you see them giving it back to WBD? @@WhatsOnDisneyPlus agreed and ty again. Where do you see Smallville going? Possibly Netflix or even Max? I mean, it’s one of the most lucrative shows when it comes to streaming rights so I would think those would be the top two candidates.
@@Trekapedia if Smallville leaves the Disney-owned apps, I would argue it would likely go to Max, not Netflix. If it is licensed again in addition to going to Max, I see maybe Prime Video getting licensing rights. Prime Video jointly with WBD holds licensing agreements for Christopher Reeve Superman movies as well as 80’s and 90’s Batman movies. Netflix does hold streaming licenses for virtually all of the other CW-birthed products, but I think those rights will revert to WBD and Max in the next year or two.
@@Trekapedia when it comes to Smallville specifically and the Superman character more generally, WBD and Warner Brothers before Discovery ownership keep Superman very close to themselves. They probably don’t want to license such an immensely valuable franchise to Netflix. Superman really is set apart from the rest of WB products. Amazon Prime Video is a different beast from Netflix. As big as Netflix is, Jeff Bezos has more bargaining and purchasing power than Netflix does.
I am not from the uk,but I agree with that. Otherwise some subscribers might get rid of hulu thinking it will always be available on Disney plus when they can get rid of hulu at any date.
It wasn’t really a Netflix competitor when it started it’s technically the first full streaming service cause Netflix was still mostly a dvd by mail rental service at the time cause Hulu officially went live late august 2007 and began testing in October of 2007 and officially launched in march 2008 and the problem with the Hulu incorporation into Disney+ is that it still relies heavily upon the bundle cause of u only have Disney+ account like me the Hulu hub isn’t available even though during the beta phase they didn’t let everyone have some Hulu content like the Orville season 3 but now has pretty much taken that back and locked it up behind the bundle
I do not like the Hulu content on Disney+ at all. I pay for both and it feels like i'm double paying for one service. Since the Hulu hub was added I feel like it's taken over Disney+ and it irritates me. It probably wouldn't bother me if all of the Hulu content would be advertised and kept inside the Hulu Hub. I do not like opening Disney+ and seeing Hulu content when i'm looking for Disney content.
Disney plus should fully merge hulu with in service and drop standalone hulu app overall but also merge hulu add ons into app started with wb & hbo sell dc to comcast
