While I kinda understand not caring about the alt mode to a certain extent since the car is statistically the least important mode for a combiner limb but the fact they were considered ditching the chest and HEAD is just utterly insane, like that is wild. Also that wave one overstock isn't just a Canada thing I think my local Walmart manages to get more arcee everytime I vist I'm utterly confused where they keep coming from.
@@TheLazyEyebrow Distribution has been getting worse and worse. My US Target compensated for the lack of Legacy by swamping us with shelves of Metalhawk, SS86 Arcee and Ironhide, and a glut of Earthspark and Rise of the Beasts gimmick figures. I really liked the show and movie, but those toys just do them a major disservice to the public eye. I haven’t seen anything from Legacy Evolution wave 2 yet in my area, and Shrapnel is sold out everywhere. It’s a pain to be a collector now.
At my target (in u.s.a.) they don’t put new things in until the old things are sold out so we still have ss galvatron siege mirage, and a few legacy figures. The only Rotb figures we have is core class and the weird mask things that pass off for being a “transformer”
By god! Changing the hood section really helps with at least convincing us that its a lambo and I'm angry at hasbro that they didn't allow it to happen!
This is why I always hold off on investing in combiners until every member proves themselves worth having. There’s always going to be one member (whether you think it’s Dead End or as-he-released Breakdown) that could drag down the whole set. Planning on picking up a Drag Strip if he’s still available (with my area’s Walmarts, he probably is), and a G2 Dead End as standalones unless the rest of G2 Menasor is easy to find.
I can just imagine breakdown having a nervous breakdown (lol) about how he was promised a car mold that was like his old look but got wild riders car in white. Going catatonic about how wildrider has been planning to replace him in the combiner and other paranoia stuff while the other stunticons look on In annoyance, pity, and whatever dead end’s feeling at the moment.
While I never mind the original Jalpa vehicle mode (I still blame the higher up suits), The Countach kit looks great! You and Sam did a great job for what you have to do. I hope you do put it up in your store so I can but it immediately! I’d also love to see you make some new wheels for Breakdown so you can make him more different and I would also love to buy those. (Edit: it’s up on the store right now, hell yeah! Thank you for putting it in)
Also, the more I look at Breakdown’s vehicle mode, the more I see it as being the 25th Anniversary Edition Countach unlike the Lambo brothers who are LP500S, mostly because of the sideskirts. Which I actually think helps distinct him more from them. I’m really loving this kit more
@@Donir100 exactly man, the Jalpa is a car that actually deserves more love tbh, it was truly the equally handsome V8 brother to the Countach and it’s one of the reasons I will always love it for that.
Stuff like this is why I'm liking Magic Square and Newage more and more. The quality and engineering is leaps and bounds better, and they are the size Hasbro will be at in a few years lol
If someone would oversize all the MS and NA stuff, I'd be all over it. As it is now, I only pick up certain releases like most of the Skyfires they put out because he's my favorite Transformer and they both did a pretty good job on them rivaling even what Takara did with the MP version.
Seems to be the general consensus. And that's very fair. There's unfortunately not much that can be done on my end about it presently, but I might look into it again at some point
Let's hope the new movie gooes big enough to put everything back on a solid footing and convince the corpo bean counters that Transformers is worth a full five bean soup.
Just going to say, distribution is horrible. I have Motormaster, Dragstrip, and Breakdown only because deluxe waves 2 and 3 completely skipped my area, and I prefer to shop local before resorting to online.
It's really a shame how they butchered the car mode, while I did defend it to some degree in my own review I won't lie the Jalpa thing was the only way i could let it go as I do love that car. Honestly the fact that it was a higher up choice isn't surprising and only makes it more infuriating, I still love the robot mode but with out the car mode I still find myself looking at my CW one. I keep a lot of my old figures anyway so I just use the old one for car mode and the other for robot mode.
I hate this figure. I pre-ordered it to complete Menasor, and already knew what I didn’t like about it. I would’ve just been happy with another Wildrider with a partsforming piece. There are two problems I wasn’t ready for though, the holes that connect to the combined mode are painted inside which makes it really annoying and tight. Oh also the windshield is bent and if I properly get this thin* into bot mode I’m certain it will fully snap. Thanks a lot Hasbro QC!
When you put the figure in the coffee the only thing I was thinking was "cranix! Ahhhh" because imagine having to clean coffee stains off of a plastic figure
Appreciate the review. I bought mine about three months ago and, not only is it still in it's box, it's still in the bag I bought it home in. In the hallway. To my Mum's frustration! I'm never getting around to reviewing it because I just don't give a toss anymore. Speaking of frustration, 3D printed plastic can be sanded, why does no-one do it?! Drives me up the bloody wall seeing all those lines like that! It'd make it look 100% better if you took ten minutes with a Dremel mate! Over 35 years of model making makes me see this stuff and it itches my brain.
@@TheLazyEyebrow Then you just say that you've finished the item for your figure and the ones on the website are unfinished. Models don't come assembled and painted, you do that yourself, 3D printed kits are no diffent. I just couldn't show something unfinished, but like I said, 35 years of experience in the field make it that I can't abide things being less than the best they can be, I'd *have* to sand and paint it!
I still quite like him, but you do have to remove him from the context of what he "should" be. Shouldn't matter that much for combined mode collectors though, since he isn't visible, though guys like Lazy I get with the vehicle mode enthusiasm.
I struck lucky to get all of these at retail May 2022 dragstrip Skip several months of Velocitron and legacy wave 1 clogging up the shelf’s December 2022 wildrider and motermaster Wave 2 is literally only there for 2 weeks Very early January wave 3 shows up In Walmart and the last store I went to had dead end At the same time for like 2-3 weeks the first wave of legacy evolution shows up in target so I get breakdown And now I’m going to target tomorrow to hopefully get most of legacy evolution wave 2
Keep an eye out...Motormaster is farrrrr cheaper now with the newer release run. For example, when I bought mine off Amazon, it was "on sale" for $167AUD and is now set at $125AUD....which will potentially get discounted either at the end of June and/or at November/December for the Christmas sales period. I bought extras to sell later and well....they got me good
One thing I like to do with wild rider is to flay the backpack out, not like the cape, but like wings, it differentiates wildrider from breakdown and slims him down a bit as there isn't as much car hood behind the torso.
By the time I got Breakdown, most of my interest in this set was gone. Started shockingly amazingly, but went downhill after a while. Added him to Menasor with barely any messing around in Breakdown's robot and vehicle modes and hasn't moved since. Not a bad toy, but definitely one I only got to finish the set. Everything else doesn't do much for me.
I haven't been into transformers for a while i decided to rewatch transformers war for cybertron although not being very good it ended up making me purchase the seaker 3 pack from amazon and then i watched you reviews just for the animation and effort you put in and now i have to say im fully emersed into transformers again thanks lazy you made my day again It reminds me of when you reviewed wfc cyclonus and i ended up buying the figure it had to be the best transformers figure i bought aside from earthrise prime So in short i just waant to say thank you
As ghastly as toy prices are these days, you'd think a completely original car mode for Breakdown would've been a given. "WELL THEIR BEST SUCKS!!" Thank you, Freddery. lmao
Usually I'm not bothered when the alt-mode isn't dead on to the real vehicle, but when it's something iconic like a countach, just... Yeah, ugh, Breakdown deserved so much better.
I completely forgot about the Lamborghini Jalpa. Sylvester Stallone drove a black one in Rocky IV. Thanks to you, I will now consider my Breakdown as a Lamborghini Jalpa instead of a “Countach”. It kinda looks like the Jalpa. Thanks! 😂👍🏼
I only got dragstrip because people said he was fun. I was totally turned off from wild rider because of the back pack. Deadend had weird feet and Breakdown was... well everything you said. Motormaster looks good though. I should have ordered him while he was on sale, but i was hesitant because of the yellowing issue.
I like to imagine the fender attaching to the gun as being similar to the bumper sword from Fallout New Vegas. It’s not a one-to-one comparison but it works for me.
Dr Lockdown? In my Lazy Eyebrow review? What a treat! Overstock is nuts but this time I actually appreciate it. I haven't been back into collecting for quite a year yet (if you don't count getting Siege Optimus in 2019) but thanks to overstock I've been to get figures that are at least 2 years old. I got Kingdom Cyclonus at a comic/manga shop about a month ago and then a few days ago I decided to buy a Studio Series Sweep to be my Scourge. If it wasn't for overstock keeping Sweeps in my local Walmart I might not have been able to get him. Legacy Evolution though? Fat chance. Absolutely nothing.
I really wish Sam’s upgrade could be produced with a finish closer to injection production. The artifacts of 3D printing are more distracting to me than it being the wrong car.
In our country we have on the shelfs bumblebee movie figures like Soundwave and wave one of Transformers cybervers and maybe like one or two legacy bulkheads😂😂😂😂
Honestly, I’d rather go with combiner wars, but that’s because I prefer the combination, and besides dragstrip and motor master I think the figures are better
Apparently the stock backpack being able to segment from Wildrider was done preemptively for Breakdown to emulate the spoiler placement of the G1 animation model. Make of that what you will. Anyways, can't wait to see the Motormaster review!😊 Edit: I didn't put that emoji there, either my big fingers did or the keyboard itself did.
Lazy, not sure how you feel about 3rd Party Companies that make G1 Transformers, as Magic Square has a pretty good mold of Break Down as a Lambo Countach. The one that is being released from Newage is even far more detailed and very close to the Lambo Countach. It just baffles my mind that 3rd party companies can do it better than Hasbro TT! HTT just rubs me off as a big toy company that mass produces toys with faint regard to detail and knowing what the fans want(they do try but not good enough). Just a simple message to HTT, "WE The People keep you in business, and we the people can take you out of business!"
To be honest I don't mind looking at him being a jalpa instead of a countach. To be fair there's a lot of them in the G1 continuity even if you don't add the new expanded universe characters. It also makes more sense to look at them in universe as megatrons cheaper autobots lol
It is kind of neat to have more cars within the franchise, however I personally feel the Jalpa is a stretch in that we're just trying to excuse a phoned in repaint
@TheLazyEyebrow yeah I definitely agree that we're grasping for straws but it's also nice getting more than the standard 4 80s sports cars like we used too
Maybe that's why Breakdown is the paranoid one: he scanned a Ferrari and got a bodykit to make him look like a Countach and he's scared someone will notice.
I think the 3D printing artifacting is a lot more distracting than the wrong vehicle mode, but that might just be me. I do really like this set of figures but it's a shame that Breakdown didn't get the alt mode he deserves. Regardless Menasor is still awesome, even if 3/5 of them are a bit lacking. It's still miles above any CWnbiner with the lack of combiner ports and the overall sturdiness of it all. Dragstrip and Motormaster are really good too, not sure that they justify the rest of the set all the way.
that can be mitigated with either sanding, or printing on a resin printer and painting it, but neither of those are cost effective for selling. of course, you're always welcome to sand your own when you buy it but you're definitely not the only one. there's been quite a mix of people saying the same and that's quite alright
Just watched the other reviews for the Stunticons earlier, this was a pleasant surprise! Will you be doing a review for Motormaster + the combined mode at some point?
Damn, I absolutely love Bumblebee Arcee, so I'd love to buy out all of those figures shelf-warming at your Canadian stores to make room for newer figures. The figures warming my store shelves are all garbage I have no interest in, sadly, so I have nothing of interest at the moment.
I've said this before, but the lack of aesthetic cohesion between figures, coupled with the unfortunate Managerial mishap that is Breakdown, really leaves this set of figures as one I do not regret skipping out on.
im very happy with the stunticons, yes its not a countach but it looks good to me, sideswipe and red alert are almost the same, so why not this 2? its not perfect but the legacy stunticons is like a 8/10
Some 3rd party replacement parts really need to be injection mold. ...The print lines make it look like a "Ferrari cake" (if you get the SOUTH PARK reference)
Any Clampdown I see in a review that isn't a red crab with insane eyes and a mouth that spans the whole length of the face always throws me for a loop, and reminds me that I have no taste But at the same time, Hasbro, c'mon... I'd buy it. Neat review of the stunticon btw
It's crazy how Hasbro can do some really great figures with hardly any issues but drop the ball on most of them with the waffling and gaps and mold reuses. It's like they give a middle finger to the collectors. They do Dragstrip right this time but f up on Breakdown. It's as if they are deliberately doing it because they know collectors will buy a better version when they make it in a few years. That or they are just being cheap as f to maximize their profits by doing these remolds and charging the same money for them knowing that collectors will be ok with good enough.
