people! do NOT take pictures of other people, famous or not, without their permission! it’s creepy and rude and their being recognizable does NOT denote consent! you should not have to be told this! damn!!

YES THANK YOU! My god, leave people alone. Don't do to others why you wouldn't want for you. I will never understand those people. I (unfortunately) have naturally very big breasts, I'm very shapely in general and I have a lot of issues with my body image, as a survivor of se/ual assault. The only time I was courageous enough to wear a lower cut bodycon dress to celebrate my medical degree, I had a man take pictures of my boobs in the train. I couldn't say anything because we were alone, and a man who can do this is capable of doing anything. I don't know if in the US it's similar but in the London tube, seats that face each other are very close to each other. I'm 5'9 and I can reach the opposite seat if I stretch my legs and my feet to the max, so this guy was really in my face, very close. He had his earbuds on and forgot to mute the sound Iphones make when you take pictures.. he was handling his phone in a very awkward unnatural way, he brought it to face level horizontally , instead of looking at it on his lap, like we all do. I don't know If my explanation makes sense, English is my eighth language and sometimes they are all jumbled in my head and I forget which word suits which language lol. I felt so violated my God I wanted to scream. I had a book with me and I tried to hide my face and my breasts with it, I didn't want my face to land on any weird website. I'll never know how painful it feels to be Cris and have people do this to me on a regular basis, but I that night broke down crying my eye out on the platform, I was shaking for the rest of the night. He fucked one of the best night of my life and I remember it like it was yesterday, still messes with my head. People really don't give a fuck about others' basic rights and the consequences of their actions. I have also seen too many tourists take pictures of locals in my country (Egypt) laughing at them or what they were wearing or doing, taking pictures of kids who were exposed because of their torn up clothes, like they were in a fucking human zoo. They never asked for permission. I travel all around Africa for work and I have seen this time and time again. Tourists posing with poor street kids so they could post it on Instagram and quote something about how they are helping the locals, when they weren't doing shit for the the locals but mocking them or their traditions, and haggling prices for shit worth 80 cents . Disgusting

I'll admit... six months ago, my two teens (19 and 17) were talking about youtubers and I had no clue what they were talking about. I was being somewhat judgmental in a way, I was thinking that everything was almost always fake or stupid. Then I had a major surgery last month and my daughter talked about Holo Taco. Discovered Cristine / Simplynailogical. Opened a whole new world for me. You both are very, very interesting to follow and you helped me through A LOT over this past month. xx (I speak French 99,5% of the time so .. sorry if I made mistake in my text)

I think there’s always been a negative connotation .. like when I was 14 in the 2000s my mum wouldn’t let me come on the website because they were scared of video pranks and the complete lack of content filtering. Like I think early on there did sometimes used to be pron hidden in video and lots of jump scares etc. I definitely learnt all my swears from here haha

I'm a literal nobody and I had to confront a co worker about filming me without my permission. He was vlogging on a new phone and thought it would be cool to film me eating lunch in the break room with my full name tag on and I put a stop to that real quick. There's a time and place to film shit and the workplace ain't it.
@rakel393393
@rakel393393 4 года назад
+strayiggyTV Filming a *coworker* IN the workplace? That's so incredibly dumb and invasive. Not that doing it to a stranger in the street is any better, but one would think that the workplace is such an obvious place to avoid filming aNyThInG. I remember sitting with some friends in a common area of college and suddenly hearing: "and what do you girls think?" and having a cellphone shoved into my face. This guy sitting next to me was trying to get us on his snapchat or something. We didn't knew who he was, what he was talking about and, on top of it, it looked like he was trying to ¿impress? the girls he was with. I had to swat his phone away of our faces and cover myself while telling him he can't film people without their consent. If situations like yours and mine - were we don't "have" to be nice to the transgressor and can freely confront them - are so uncomfortable, I can't imagine what Cristine, Ben and other content creators must feel like when approached so thoughtlessly by entitled "fans", etc.

this reminds me of a video julien solomita posted years ago. he titled it "don't come to our house", and the fact that he had to make a video about it concerned me. there were many people supportive of his message, but some of the comments concerned me. the same thing that cristine and ben had mentioned in the end about "well you're famous you should know you have to deal with that" were in the reply sections to a lot of comments. and it made me super angry. like what possibly makes going to someone's house or taking pictures during a vulnerable time okay?! it doesn't matter that they're famous. if I got famous the next day for something, I certainly wouldn't want someone showing up at my apartment or someone sneaking pictures of me, whether I am walking down the street or in an awkward or vulnerable position. and it just makes me so upset that some people think that kind of behavior is okay

thier job is an entertainer not your personal photo model.... i also dislike how people think their famous its why they went into it... so annoying... their job is entertainer or musician or actor not personal photo/video model also they went into it for job purposes not to bring their private life into the public eye... i mean there are some that dont mind telling life stories but not every celebrity wants people to know what they do in their private time... you wouldnt ask a florist what their private life is so why would you with an entertainer....

Picture story makes me think of cultural differences affect such "small" things. It is illegal in Norway to take a pic without permission. It is so ingrained into the psyche that is just so baffling that someone would take pictures without permission. Like you are some exhibit at the zoo not to be acknowledged or made aware. People have the right to their lives and body and privacy no matter what. You as a fan/random person have no right to that. Takeing that pic without permission is becoming the paparazzi, and starkery and those are some beasts hiding under the belly of fame. Consent is key. No one "asked for it". Hararsmet should not be a part of someone job

It's not illegal in Norway to take a picture of someone, but it is illegal to publish a picture of someone without their permission. You can take as many pictures as you want. Of course it is frowned upon to just randomly photograph someone without asking, but that's more of a social thing, not a legal thing.

Just because you "chose" this path as a content creator and RU-vidr doesn't mean that you agree to people invading your personal space and your privacy. There should be clear unspoken boundaries that what you do outside of your work is your business and it isn't meant to be advertised to the world. It really frustrates me that people think that just because you've happened into a big platform that you're also okay with them invading your space outside of that platform. Sure, it would be very cool to see somebody that you admire or look up to in ReAl LiFe because ThEyRe ReAl, but we as fans or admirers also have to take a step back and understand, first and foremost, that you are human, too, doing very human things and you require human boundaries just like everybody else does. I'm so sorry to hear you experienced that, Cristine. I can only hope that by expressing how you felt in these clips, that people can get a better understanding of how to behave around others.

You don’t owe anyone anything. You should be allowed to have your privacy respected and-frankly-there are appropriate times and places to go say hi. VidCon, for example. I grew up in a small town in the US South, so I understand a similar social culture. But even trips to the store were mentally exhausting because it’s dang-near impossible to run in without seeing at least two people who want to visit. The absolute most I would do is give a small wave and smile, but only if we had made eye contact. I’m an introvert myself, and I cannot imagine enjoying people coming up to me on a regular basis. That’s a no from me, dawg.

it’s wild that the title youtuber has this negative connotation bc some you tubers do daily vlogs and problematic things and party during a pandemic. youtube content like any other media has many different genres. it’s not like if you said to someone “i’m a filmmaker” that they would automatically actually you make like marvel movies or smth.

i agree with the celebrity thing. sometimes youtube just starts as something you do for fun or out of boredom or even lack of friends bc introverted-ness LOL but it gets annoying when people start to feel that you’re obligated to share or talk about everything just because you’ve been generous enough to share like 10min of your life in a vid. i hope that people realize that youtubers CAN be celebrities but not all youtubers ARE or really want to be celebrities..? like even how bigger youtubers get photographed in public at the grocery store. pewdiepie said in a vid that he was tired of just having to be ready at any given moment should someone spot him and ask a pic. i hope that makes sense that was kinda scattered lol

Ugh.. I am sooooo against when people do this. 😡 If a public figure is at a meet&greet or some setting where they’re ready and willing to do the fan thing, then that’s fine. But when they’re just out on the street, not engaging with anyone, maybe even with their hat and sunglasses clearly not wanting to be bothered, they are off duty and that is so not cool. People don’t realize that their one picture or one too-obvious reaction starts a domino effect of everyone else noticing that person, wanting to come up to them, take their picture, and then they have to stop what they were doing and leave. It’s not fair to them, it’s not fair to the friends and family they’re with, and it’s incredibly rude and selfish. CHILL! It’s just another human!

Obviously it's not quite the same but my grandparents live on a canal boat, and when I've gone on the boat (been going on canal boats for like 15/16 years now) we'll be doing a lock and if its a staircase (multiple locks in a row) there tends to be a lot of gongoozlers stood around, letting their damn kids get in the way and climb all of the lock gates. A lot of gongoozlers stand and take pictures of the boats going up or down in the locks and it's so fucking annoying and frankly rude, they don't ask permission and they're literally taking pictures of people and their homes, it's horrible. Especially when I was a teenager because on the canal no-one gives a shit what you look like so I'd quite often not bother with any makeup, wear a onesie and pretty much look like crap, then we'd get to the locks and there's a bunch of strangers snapping photos, I'd often end up going inside the boat to make a brew to avoid it, which sucks because locks are fun, and the canals are beautiful. But yeah, people just don't understand what the fuck privacy and common decency are. Hell on the canal my grandparents have to keep the curtains on the towpath side closed when they're moored up because people will just stare straight in the windows at you and not even look away when you stare back, some people will even tell their kids to have a look.

Even though I say this as not a celebrity I still STRONGLY BELIEVE all of us deserve privacy. Famous or not, we all need parts of our lives to just be for us to experience also allowing downtime. It can be exhausting trying to have something all the time for everyone to know. Also some things are best kept to ourselves. What goes on in your every day life is not exactly anyone else's business. I think what matters most is having a select few people who will know more than others about you but people you strongly trust to not share such highly personal things about your life.
