@@danielalbertohernandezhernandeidk why but I love how the penny board feels maybe it’s because they really low to the ground so I can push with more force but it just feels smooth when slowing down, I remember when I first got it, I bombed a road and couldn’t bail so I just slammed on the entrance ramp to my parking lot, had 3 bruises in my stomach area😂 this lady came to help but at that point u just gotta say ur okay and retreat back home 💀
@@danielalbertohernandezhernandei sent it down a not so steep hill once on a penny board. It did not end well. One tiny stone and I went flying😂 never again
Any of those people can be skaters. If you're on a board, and you're having a good time. You're a skater to me. I don't care. I don't understand the whole gatekeeping thing. Do what makes you happy
Honestly, as a guy who skateboards and longboards, both of these are accurate. Neither are good generalizations, but both are accurate for different parts of longboarding
I got a board when I was 16, I’m 18 now and after graduating I have so much time so I’ve been skateboarding I don’t know tricks yet, but I had had so much fun seeing myself being comfortable on the board, tonight I finally was able to do the thing where you run and put your board down and jump on to get speed.
I may catch flak, but I really do hate when I get called a cheater by another longboarder when I am using an esk8. Like brother, I am not even competing with anyone. I am also just trying to have fun my own way while getting around
I’ve been doing research on them lately and am very interested in purchasing one soon- any particular brand or model you’d recommend? I’d def be considered “novice” as I’ve never owned a longboard before, although I did skate for about 10 years up thru my mid 20’s. Mainly looking to just carve around a bit, get some outdoor rec, run some errands (I live in an urban area) etc. My max budget id consider spending is prob $600. Also need a board with a decent load capacity and battery size as I’m 6’2” about 260. I’m worried about getting one with too small a battery and it draining super fast bc of the weight so that’s super important I feel like. Throw me some recommendations brotha 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙌🏼⚡️⚡️
fr, we get so much shit and for what? Skateboarding is literally *founded* on being an outlet for social outcasts, and now we have kids throwing shade around and being elitist assholes, even amongst themselves. I switched from skateboarding to longboarding due to fracturing my wrist. And honestly, just cruising around is WAY more enjoyable for me than regular skateboarding. But everyone's different, and that's ok. That's what it's all about anyway. TL;DR Stop being an elitist prick and let people enjoy what they will.
For real. I use both a popsicle board and a long board because they’re useful for different things. But you’re still out there pushing yourself to be better and be a part of a community.
Sames, i still skate but at a much lower intensity but i could still do stuff but then at the end of the day man, if i do get injured or weaken, id still love to cruise around as thats just as much fun, if not even more fun.
As a skater who just got a long board, skaters aren't the judgemental. A few may give you stink eye, but as long as you're pushing and having fun, that's all that matters
aight boys quick story time. I was going down a hill full speed pretty steep with some pot holes. did this with my friend, and she went first, had no problem. I went next, and this thick patch of random grass just popped up in a crack and tripped me off my longboard. Ugh hurt like heck. my knee was completely destroyed, and I have a nasty scar there to prove it… lesson: maybe wear some knee pads lol
Tbh I have this same faulty mindset that other skaters are judging me for what I ride. But they actually don’t. In fact if you’re not gate keeping this hard your find out that skaters are gonna wanna know more about your set up. Keep your mind open
Shit the people gatekeeping saying that skateboarding is better then longboarding and vice versa are just the next generation of baby boomers you can’t do that because I’m not familiar with it and don’t care to learn because it’s stupid… my guy it’s a plank with wheels chill
as a skater i think as long as your having fun on a skateboard and learning new stuff you a skater also downhill takes balls going at that kind of speed
I used to skate a bit when I was a kid. I'm 34 now, and just ordered Landyachtz Ripper and Dipper to try out. So stoked to be skating again soon. But I won't be doing this lol
As someone who lives in a place with no hills, every person riding a longboard looks like the first bunch, but I must say i do have mad respect for the downhill longboarders you gotta have a fat set of nurries for that. also longboarders that can do shuv manual combo, shit looks pretty cool
i skate both and don't understand any of the hate. i don't even hate bikes, scooters, rollerblades, ripstiks.. hell, ride heelys if you want. just don't be a bummer and have fun!
Longboarding can be so insanely sick, but it is almost a different sport entirely. Closer to other downhill sports than standard skating, especially when you consider your main risk factors. Super gnarly stuff
I used to play Longboard & Ripstik when I was a kid, riding it on a really high slope that was considered dangerous now I'm thinking about it but I'm a speed freak and just a kid /w full of adrenaline at that time. Today as an adult of 25 years, I even ride a motorcycle without knowing how to ride a bike and I rocked it in a few days so now I have my own motorcycle. I'm a fast learner indeed but I'm stressed out if I can still have the same balance on riding a skateboard or longboard, I prefer a longboard to commute to work but stressing out if I can have the same balance. Does anyone have the same experience, I want to ask first before I buy some board to make sure it's worth it lol, In a perfect scenario, I hope I can ride without training, I just want to jump on the board like I used to do
Im a skater so personally i don't like longboards but i still hold respect for those who properly learn and/or practice, there's a lot of community issues with all sports but i want to speak for the entire skate community when i say anyone who talks shit about stuff like that aren't truly skaters. Keep riding and having fun o7 But also stay safe
I remember one time my sister loaned me her long board. Any hoo i was young and energetic back then and put alot of faith into the wheels going over the train tracks because it had done it before. And I came flying down a hill, rode over the track and boom I went fucken flying 😂 commitment is key brother 😂
I skate longboard and normal boards, longboard at the high way and skate at the skatepark, i am a ramp guy so i feel like specially when doing bs airs im always gonna die, while when im on the longboard at very high speed sometime powerslides freak me out, both are good
Bro, longboarding is the best! I was trying to learn how to longboard and my 38 yr old mom grabbed it and just started speeding down the road and did the craziest shit with it. Y'all ready know my jaw dropped😂😂
I do both, i use my skateboard for tricks and my longboard to get arround town, since my town got trashy roads, a longboard rides way better then a skateboard
And here am I, jusy trying to ride safely in capital city of Norway, avoiding people and stopping non stop because there is a lot of downhills here in the city center lol. Third day on a longboard and skating at all for the first time. Just truing to get some sport and commute to work.
It is more based on the damn terrain. I ride whatever. If I was at a skatepark, I would ride a popsicle. On the shyt area I live, cruiser or longboard.
