I was told how much Lix he would get from our Mother..when she discovered his compositions in the 'Copy Book' she purchased for him for school. LOL One of the most remarkable persons I've ever know. What a MAGNIFICENT Brother. Gentle and non-judgermental. Rest in Peace . Rise to Glory. Remembered with LOVE.

Doesn't get better than this; the sound track of my youth in the eighties. Back when Soca artistes where really artistes. these men and women sang very witty ditties that woul stick in your head and get you into trouble with conservative colonial days bred grandparents. they were intelligent artistes who commented on the issues of the day, unlike their present counterparts who bastardise the music with Jamaican dancehall and American hip hop. where has real Trinidad music gone to?
Died in obscurity. Trinidad treats its calypsonians really poorly. Thank God the people never forget them RIP...ah deputy is essential lol another of his hits.. got a lot of men in trouble
"So you take, and you take, and you take, and you take, .... mistake". And "But not a plantation, so next generation could truly say this is MY land" Both verses were and are warnings against consumerism which the average intelligence of Trinidadians has not to this day risen high enough to understand. No use complaining about bad leadership. The leaders come from among the people and share their values. And the people ONLY vote for people who share their values and are at the same mental and moral level as themselves. So any so-called "failure of leadership" is really "failure of votership" which in turn is really a "failure of the culture"which by lionizing destructive values leads to the choosing of people who embody these values, which naturally leads to destructive consequences as they are now in the political positions to materialize in the world the rotten values within themselves. The sad part, or funny part, or both, is that the people criticizing the bad leadership also lionize and embody the destructive values as the leader. The values are the "seed" and the consequences are the "fruit". So they want to plant bad seed but get good fruit. What is missing is a capacity for objective self-examination and the willpower to root out the bad internal values. But the recognition of bad values requires good judgement, and bad values create bad judgement which judges itself to be good judgement and concludes that there is no need to change itself. So the cycle continues ad infinitum.
Does anyone knows what Penguin is up to now a days? Just curious. He had a relatively short but really sweet reign on the calypso stage. Best wishes Penguin!
