Climbing is certainly fun, even training for it is fun. I've built many different home climbing walls and commercial climbing gyms. This is how I recommend installing t-nuts for climbing wall builds and the best place to get these t-nuts.

Might be the corniest video I've put together but I really tried to make it informative. What video should I do next?

Nice that your twin brother arrived just in time! I Would love to see a vid on applying texture to the panel, would make a nice follow up video (do you use the same technique for that as you did on the vid about making a volume?) Man, that crack climbing part at the end!! Looks realy exciting!

The Escape climbing wall industrial T-Nut is the only T-Nut designed by climbers specifically for climbing walls that I know of and is the best. If you want to talk more about it shoot me an email at theclimberdad@gmail.com

Thanks for the video! Do you have any suggestions on using stainless steel t nuts vs zinc plated for an outdoor wall?
@climberdad

Stainless can mar/Cross thread easier so I tend to lean towards zinc plated t-nuts.

Do you pre-drill before screwing in the t-nut or just place and screw with no pre-drilling

Technically you probably should but you will go insane. No builder I know of puts in pilot holes for the screws holding in the tnut.

Why not the cheaper T nut with a screw so that it cant spin? Holes are not necessary in this case. I think you only need one 3/8 or 1/2 deep screw to stop it from spinning while tightening! Then just be cautious changing your holds. Anyone...? Anyone one? I will try.

The 4 prong tnut does pretty well. It's biggest issue is people pushing it out when taking off the holds. It's natural to push on the impact drive when taking out the bolt and that can walk the tnut right out of the board. I have used 2 #6 1/2" screws on this tyoe of tnut and it does seem to help.

Thanks for sharing. I saved some money because I almost buy from a supplier which is 30c more expensive than these. I bought 300 tnuts. Please share info about bolts as well. Quite confused with the head types, lengths for different type of holds, zinc plated or steel, etc.. 😁

Thanks for the info and the links. You used 2 hole but linked 3 hole. I can't find 2 hole. Do you have a link for those too please?

Do you think these would work on fiberglass? Looking to use these for a project im working on
@climberdad
@climberdad 2 года назад
Maybe. I've used them on a fiberglass wall but I backed it with some plywood, mainly because the fiberglass was already layed up.

What type of screws are you using? I see on Amazon one person uses #6 x 1/2", another uses #4 x 3/4". Thank you for all these wonderful build-it-at-home videos!

This is the size I usually use but I can get it cheaper at a local fastener store. Hex heads with the same size and price are great too. amzn.to/3fNetKp
