I do enjoy my Taylor all Koa 12 string from over 12 years ago. I don’t like any of the matte finishes myself. Taylor said that the matte finishes provide better sound and breathing. I would like to see the science on that since they all use sanding sealer regardless. As far as I see it, matte is just an excuse not to do the more difficult gloss finish. Matte looks cheap to me. If the GS Mini came in gloss I would grab one right away
Thinner finishes make the guitar more resonant. Lots of manufactures agree and preach this. Sound is subjective so tough to prove much science on that part.
Yes Taylor makes wonderful koa guitars. But James Goodall makes the best and don't forget about froggy bottom. There is more out their then the big three.
@@JiminTennessee If your going to consider a 6000 Taylor their are boutique options out their. I own a Taylor 214ce but I'm not going to spend 6000 on a Taylor. My two experience guitars will hold their value.
I had the Koa Martin acoustic back in like 2006(?) It was the worst sounding acoustic I've ever played. I dont know why. Bought it cause it was the cheapest martin I could get.
I had a Taylor 224-ce but gave it away because of the narrower neck width at the nut. Last year, I got a Taylor 722-ce with a 1 3/4" width at neck. This guitar feels like a high-end guitar because it is. I love it!
I've played the 224 Koa next to the Washburn WCG55CE-0... have you Gentlemen Tried it... I like it's tonality and a Solid back side and top... and the Price. Troy from Atlantic City
I a fortunate owner of a 2019 K14ce Builders Edition with a torrified Sitka top. Got a special guitar. No other guitar has ever inspired me to play so much. That has led to improvements in my playing and have even written some of my own stuff. Can’t praise this Koa enough.
Played the 722ce at my local shop (Parkway Music) and it is absolutely beautiful. The top on that particular instrument has an amazing blonde streak running down the center making it even more sexy. Such an easy guitar to play, A very bright, crisp sound. I showed a picture of the top to my wife and she said, "wow, buy it!". After waking up on the floor i reminded her my brother just bought one and I'll just play his (plus, I just bought a Gibson L-00 that I've had my heart set on for a while). Nice to have that "green light" though.
I hate to say it but my GS Koa mini sounds better than my 814CE. I think I am going to go after getting a bigger Koa guitar personally now that I've experienced koa.
I have a 2008 K65ce and it’s a glorious 12-string. Killer Koa all around on it. No bursts though, which I prefer over the bursts being on the Koa models.
I just recieved my koa bass in the mail and am actually very satisfied. It’s is pretty quiet as people say, but it’s for when I’m camping or too lazy to warm up some tubes. Now if anyone could tell me where I can find short screw Schaller strap locks without having to order from Schaller.
Im lucky to have the K24ce builders edition. early 2021 build. They are now selling in Australia for $9500 AUD which is $6,600 USD. Nice guitar but worth the money??? I dont know
After trading my 314ce in for my now 324ce I want a 324ce builder's edition. A k24ce builder's edition would be my ultimate choice for an acoustic. So pretty 😍 I absolutely love my 324ce but there's always a want for more. I got lucky with my 324ce. The back is an insanely flamed piece of blackwood. Crazy
Why do you want the builders edition? What is so special there that so many ppl like it? I tried it at shop, but only for like 30 seconds and my skill is at beginner level, so maybe I missed something... :D
@Therapy377 I actually just traded my 324ce in on a Custom Shop Martin HD28 lol. I don't like Taylors pickup system. I've learned a lot in the last year. Play as many as you can to find the right choice for you
I have a 1986 Martin D16K, so I don't think I'd put another koa guitar in the house. However, I do have a GT Urban Ash and I really dig the size of the guitar. I'm just waiting for it to open up after some years of playing. I may pick up a Taylor 12 string in the near future. Just not sure if I have the room.
