the explanation of は vs。 が made me realise that it’s similar to “the” vs. “a”. you could say が was correct here because it’s “what *the* dog doin”, not “what a dog doin”
(Akai) 🧐 In some cases it might be like this, but it's a tiny little bit more complex than that. 🦁 You can mark a specific thing using は, but it depends on the context. If it's clearly related, or even relevant to what you're currently talking about, and you don't want to emphasize it by stressing its importance or attempting to give contrast, は goes perfectly well. There's a lot of discussion about this online and neither of us (Arx and Akai) are native speakers, but this is what we've gathered so far in all our years of studying and diving in the language. I hope this helps! ✨
@@ishidoku i see, in that case this situation is too specific to make this kind of comparison 😅 either way, now it’s easier for me to understand which particle is better suited for which situation. it was really helpful! thank you for replying!!
i dont think this topic or subject thing works, i just see if using "the" in english would make sense (or in any of my acquired languages) and memorize which form a verb prefers (so my brain can automatically create a pattern it can rely on by itself)
I can't believe how good this video is. I started to learn Japanese a while ago and always had a hard time deciding between が and は, yet you explain it perfectly. 本当にありがとうございます。
Welcome to the fam~! ♥ It's still gonna be sliiiightly intricated to choose between them even with some experience 🤓 subtleties take a while to fully grasp, it's more like a understanding a feeling over a rational process at times, you'll definitely FEEL it once it happens lol. Welcome to the Japanese Language Learning Community! We're all together at this 🕊
ay this really helped with my understanding of the は。が difference, much appreciated also, what's the outro song? edit: never mind, just saw the bottom of the desc. accidently skimmed past it the first time though. maybe a genre name for this type of music?
(Hallo, Akai the orange car here) I will publish the song once we reach 10k subscribers 🐈 Hmmm... I would just call electronic music? With trap drums? And chopped voices? I honestly have no idea lol, but I've been producing since 2019 a lot of random stuff. I feel extremely happy that you are asking for my music since I never had to courage to publish anything because I thought it wasn't good. I'll upload it to youtube way more sooner than later at this rate. I hope you like the full thing!
These channels like SENTRY's meme format learning videos are a gem because they're so straight to the point while being relevant to ongoing social topics, subbed
wow, bro you are doing god's work. just discovered ur channel and damn is it a gold mine! keep up the amazing work brodie, can't wait for the next video!
you explain this really well. i love the language cause i find it to be like math. it's like solving an equation and sum it up for a better understanding.
Sending love in return 💕 we'll happily accept it. Soon we'll open donations and it'll be anounced in the community tab or in a video 🦁 Thank you! Glad our content is being helpful. ⏫🐈
I'm not currently learning japanese, but I like the world of languages and when this popped up I definitely was interested, and now I want more!!, specially cause your editing makes the videos seem more fun to watch. I can't believe you have so few subs so I'll just subscribe, pls keep it up!!!
this is exactly the type of Japanese language content i've been looking for. whenever channels say "this is REAL conversational Japanese" it's still always shit like "does Tanaka-san have a cat?" and then 10 minutes worth of tangentially relevant information about particles and sentence structure that only make the current sentence even more difficult to understand. saying "it's just about vibes" rather than "language historians believe that the origin of the particle lies in blah blah blah" is so much more helpful. i love linguistics, i love learning about the intricacies and history of language, but i don't want all of that shoved down my throat while i'm just trying to understand why my friend said "のです" at the end of a sentence or something. (i know why, it's just an example)
We're also really thankful that RU-vid is recommending this to the right audience, everyone has been so kind to us, it's very heartwarming, welcome to the fam! 🐈
That's... actually a great question 😶 I have been thinking on how to reply to this question ingeniously but the only thing I can come up with is: Marketing.
