I‘m so sad for the people that don’t speak german cause especially in the stairwell scene the way they chose the words and how he expresses them adds soooo much emotion🥲 for me a 96/100 although imo the plot was nothing spectacular, the actors, music, shots (like the whole vibe) really made the difference and makes this show so unique.. watching u react made me so happyyy and I LOVE ur cutting style!💕

I see a lot of people commenting that the plot is nothing special and I get it, but to me it all felt very believable, like things that could definitely happen in real life. The relationship between James and Ruby feels real and there's all this added layer of the cinematography that makes it all romantic and beautiful. For me this show is a 90/100, because I think we need more backstory on the dad especially. This season he feels very much one dimensional and it's probably because he married into the family and I think we picked up the right clues - that he's not James and Lydia's dad. I don't know, I have to go read the books now because I can't wait so long for season 2. I saw some reviews from german people that say some scenes feel very cringe, but I think that might be because, when we watch something in our mother tongue (if it's not english), it can feel very cringe. I experience that with my own mother tongue (portuguese), like, I can't stand the cringe of portuguese shows these days. I don't know if other people experience that, but I haven't experienced that at all in this show. I speak german and that staircase scene before the love scene really hits. Also the actors are incredible ❤

I was not ready for your video to be over, like I was so unready for that last scene with crying James! What should I say? I'm so happy the world now knows Damian and Harriet!!! What an ACTING!! I was so over with all the American TV shows with all these love triangles and here we come, Maxton Hall with its European touch with new great faces and this insane chemistry ⚛ And to be honest, I wasn't so obsessed with the couple in real life since Twilight or Vampire Diaries! Its when the magic happens with two random people from the crowd who can go along together so well, so the world cannot resist! 👏 Me personally download Duo lingo for German language to be ready for season 2😆

It´s a series full of clichés and nothing original in the plot, but the chemistry of the main characters, the cinematography and the performances have something special. And after reading the first book, I must say that I liked the series more. I don't know how many times I've seen it. 6 episodes are not enough, I needed a few more, at least so that the enemies part was longer. I can't wait for the second season.

My take on Lydia and Sutton: I don't have a problem with them having romantic feelings for each other. There have been many instances in history of adults with a significant age difference being happy together. The problem I have is that they are pursuing a relationship when it is inappropriate-i.e., while she is his student. There is an idea these days that if you are in love with someone you simply cannot wait to be with them. This is false. I know it’s a bit of a cliché, but true love waits. It is possible to wait for the time when you can be with the one you love in a way that honors you both. Once they decided to brave her family’s disapproval, all Lydia and Sutton had to do was wait for Lydia to graduate. That’s it! That’s six months, tops! That would have honored her, him, and Maxton Hall. I do kind of want to smack them for not even considering this. A girl I knew in college told me a story about her grandmother. We will call the grandmother “Mary” for the purpose of this story. During Mary’s senior year in high school, she had a teacher who was a young man in his early twenties. He was single and nice, so Mary and her friends would periodically try to set him up with some of the single ladies they knew. To their surprise, he always politely declined. Eventually, graduation rolled around; and right after Mary graduated, her teacher asked her out! He had said no to the other women because he was interested in Mary and was waiting for the time when it would be appropriate to ask her out! I’m sure this guy was a completely normal guy in his early 20s with all the sexual urges that go along with that. However, he waited for Mary because he genuinely liked her, because he thought she was worth waiting for, and because he cared about pursuing her in an honorable way. In time, they got married, stayed married, and eventually had a granddaughter who attended college with me. That is possible. That is love.

Ahhh!!! It’s almost here!! I was waiting for these final episodes from you SO MUCH!! Hope you’re OK after such a finale… I’m still recovering! I was not ready at all for that plot twist! And my first thought immediately was I NEED TO READ BOOKS!

I really hope we get to see more of Ruby and Lydia together in season 2! (From what I’ve read about the plot of book 2 & 3 it looks good 👀) and it fits so well bc Harriet and Sonja are best friends in real life too!

We've made it!! I'm so glad I found your channel 'cause it's just like you wrote, sometimes you just need someone to giggle and watch along 😊 Well, agree 100% to the "Good luck" scene beeing THE best scene, they knew that Jane Austen's girls were in the demographics... The way I gasped when he took her hand, eated it, loved it! Lydia (18) & Graham (23)... They don't drive me crazy but I'm not hating. Still hating Elaine and Mortimer, tho (Elaine a little lesser because Eli Riccardi is the one covering "Sea of Love" at the end of ep5 and I LOVE IT). I also looove that my boy James can't no longer pretend to hate Ruby even if their lives depended on it. Down bad it's an understatement! Even in ep6, when he says "you deserve a family that welcomes you with open arms", dude is ready for the altar and I live for it 👏👏👏 Fun (or not) fact: the spanish version of the books have a couple on the cover (some shutterstock photo😑), the girl looks like Ruby's description but the guy is identical, carbon copy of Jude from the series 😠 I really want to get me the German versions or the English ones when eventually come out. To end this long as* lecture (lol), let me tell you, Ria, that this growth and all the warm comments you get are very well deserved: you are really adorable and this is such a wholesome space 🤍 I'll stick around and even watch some movie or series vicariously through you because of that. I think when they explained that Lydia and Sutton met before he started working at the school it made it better because it shows they met as people and not him as her teacher, however I think the problem I have is that they are still trying to make them work somehow. They should not continue the relationship while he is her teacher. Lydia is 18 about to go to university in like 1-2 terms which should be like maximum 7 months. Because now the show is in like this weird state trying to justify their relationship by telling us they met before they knew each other as teacher and student. But the fact that they are continuing the relationship now knowing it's inappropriate is wrong.

It just occurred to me that it's never stated why Ruby so desperately wants to go to Oxford. I think she said something about philosophy but that's not something you could use as a career. It seems to be a Trope in these high school romances where the less fortunate character works desperately to get into an Ivy League school for absolutely no practical reason.

Ah, I love this so much, having watched the show four times already, it brings me joy to see people’s reactions to it. 😊 For me it’s surely 95/100 at least.. although the plot is generic and very tropey, I love these tropes when they’re well done and they don’t make me cringe in this series. I watched it twice in German and then twice in English so I could focus more on their expressions and acting rather than reading subtitles, and it’s just so excellent, ah. I also got me books but going very slowly through the first one currently - either reading it in my native language or comparing it to the greatness of the show is making reading it less enjoyable for me, I think. 🙈

When you read the books you need to read the last 2 Chapters of the first book before diving into the second book because it has a very different ending then the show!
