yeah, I clicked "Like" on this one before you even admitted you didn't know them Gacharic Spin are just so fun, and SOOO talented, all the way up to stuff they've been releasing in the past few days

Yay Gacharic Spin! You remembered Hana, the drummer, from Doll$boxx, but all of D$B is in Gacharic Spin, with the exception of Fuki the singer. Every instrumentalist in D$B is in Gacharic Spin (Koga the bassist, Oreo the keyboardist, and Tomozo the guitarist, along with Hana, the sometimes drummer, sometimes rhythm guitarist, sometimes singer). More recently, they’ve added Angie (the pink haired one) as vocalist and dancer, who’s now evolving to become their lead vocalist, as well as Yuri, a new permanent drummer (not in this video due to maternity leave). With Yuri behind the kit, Hana is able to play guitar and move to the front of the stage. She still plays drums on certain songs, with drummer battles, and more complicated drum arrangements possible due to having two drummers on stage.

I was really looking forward to this reaction from when I saw it pop-up yesterday, it did not disappoint! And yes, this track makes it almost impossible for me to stay in my seat, I literally stood up again during the reaction. It's the track that made me discover the band and while I personally prefer their newer sound, all of their eras are worth checking out, especially live. They have as much energy on stage during most songs than in this MV, if not more and all of the eras bring something unique to the table. This track made me interested in checking more of them out and made me pre-order the album it was on after I listened to MindSet multiple times per day for weeks. Seeing requested live video reactions made me stick with them and eventually made me appreciate their earlier stuff (and made me import way too many of their releases over time) even though I thought they were too poppy the first time I saw a snippet of them and I basically wrote them off as "not for me". I am so glad I decided to check this track out, it was my favourite track of 2021 and it made me more open to the more poppy side of (Japanese) music. All in all, it's incredible how good they are at what they do while also find cool ways to interact with the crowd during their shows. I really hope their new start with the new label and their new album can get them more fans. They really deserve it with all the hard work they have done over the last 13/14 years. Also funny thing, the pink haired vocalist (Angelina 1/3 or Angie for short) was 17 when she joined the band (in 2019) and was a fan of them from when she was younger (she was 7 years old when the band started). The main instrumentalists are all in/over their mid 30's now, so let's say their early 30's when she joined. But while that age gap is relatively big, I don't feel it any more after she worked herself into the band for a couple of years. It's like she was with them from the beginning (at least imo, older fans might disagree although I think most fans like Angie).

Rarely have I anticipated a video as much as this one! I actually saw the name 'Gacharic Spin' on and off already for several years, but really only got hit by this train about half a year ago. It's extraordinary how much musical talent is coming out of Japan. They're not likely to win any Grammys though, as the moribund American recording industry continues to wallow in their parochial idea of what constitutes popular "music" these days. Sorry, rant over. 😎 Chase, have you caught up with the solo project by Miyako (Lovebites) yet? She has released an EP of piano covers of classic rock numbers. Most are on YT as audio only (Metallica's Battery cover is awesome), however there is an MV of her playing Eagle Fly Free (Helloween ) which is well worth a look. The whole band has also done this as a studio cover on Live from Abyss (better than the original IMO), and its fascinating to now see Miyako's arrangement, including the guitar and bass solos, all on the one instrument! Brief history, Gahcaric Spin was originally Hana (drums) F Chopper Koga (bass) Tomo-Zo (guitar) and Armmy (vocals) Armmy left GS during a tour and GS had to find a replacement and Fuki answered the call and finished the tour with them. Fuki was just there to finish the tour. GS then decided to bring Oreo (keyboards) and 2 performers/Hype/dance ladies. Fuki enjoyed singing with GS and asked they put together a side project band and that was named Dollsboxx. I believe they did one albumn together. Then the latest change came when they let the 2 performer ladies go and brought in Yuri for drums and Hana went to guitar/vocals/ other instruments and Angie was originally going to be the Hype person but they found out she could sing so now she is singer. This is the best as I remember it. I hope someone will correct any errors if I made any. Love this band. great perormances with tons of high energy.

I've been saying for some time now that Japan, and especially Japanese female bands, are leading the way in keeping some sounds alive that a large portion of us connect with and have been missing.

Band-Maid started me on this Female Japanese girl band journey, and Gacharic Spin has worked their way to the top of my list because of their musicianship, production, songwriting and amazing live performances. I've been waiting for your review since you liked Doll$boxx so much - thx! - by the way - they can nail this note for note live also

Chase, you were right, kinda, about Hana the drummer here and with DollSBoxx, they ALL are in Doll$Boxx... that is a side project of this Ga-cha-rik Spin. lol. Although, Oreo may not be. And Angie is not in DB, yet. For "Take My Chance" they borrowed Fuki from Nemophila to be the front person. That was after Satomi Takae (Armmy) passed away suddenly. That was in 2015, I believe. And she was a force to be reckoned with. I will miss her beauty and sexy delivery of all their songs. Thank you for your reactions!

Gacharic Spin, with all their long and complicated history, are only just hitting their stride in my opinion. When they recruited Angie (Angelina 1/3 to use her full title, the pink haired singer) and Yuri (absent in this video and I Wish I video due to being on maternity leave, drummer) they levelled up to a staggering degree. That's not to say their earlier stuff is bad, but they've found a new gear in the last 5 years or so. And it's probably more accurate to say Dollsboxx has Gacharic Spin members, as Dollsboxx was the side project they did with Fuki from Unlucky Morpheus. I digress. I sincerely hope you'll do Gacharic Spin - Replica in the near future, or honestly any of their music, but Replica is brand new and would love to see more people checking them out ahead of the upcoming album. They were one of the first bands that turned me to Japanese music over 10 years ago. Those, Doll$boxx (Gacharic Spin + Fuki Commune on vocals), Babymetal and Dazzle Vision. Absolutely this was what set me down the path to loving Japanese music (albeit the studio version). Hanna is just... incredible.

The bass is all over the place.

As a bass player big fan of F-Chopper Koga. She almost quit the business once because she couldn't get a record contract and was told "no one wanted to hear a girl slap on a bass.' Gahcaric Spin grew out of that. Also, they are good friends with the Kami having gone to school with some of them. Every year near Christmas G-spin and the Kamis jam together at a club to celebrate Ohmura's birthday. That would be a show to see

Just wanted to say that even though I didn't much care for the song, I was really happy to see you back and looking well after your bout with health issues. I very recently had a "mini heart attack" and I'm only 42 and I've been feelin down because of that. Seeing this, I perked up and enjoyed your reaction immensely. Thank you!

Gacharic Spin it´s a journey, a long one. Just think that is a band with more than 10 years, they change a lot along the years. Also, the keyboard player: Oreo Reona can´t stop, she is nuts, crazy as a loon. She also can sing and she have some songs as the main vocalist. Also the guitar player: Tomo-Zo can sing, and have some songs with her singing, drummer Hana also the same. It´s sometimes difficult because the formation change along the years. The singer here, Angeline (pink hair) is really young and she join the band a short time ago. Also they have a dedicated drummer now, Yuri who isn´t in the video (y think she was on maternity leave). Time ago they have also two girls Mai and Nenne for cheer up the public. When they start also have another vocalist: Armmy who left the band and sandly died time ago, and a little more members. You must see them live. GS in live is like drinking a gallon of red-bull. They run, jump, dance, do strange stuts sometimes... they are a fun band for a fun time. You picked a good time to get into Gacharic Spin. They've been going since 2009 but they're on fire at the moment. The have an album coming out next month, and based on what I've heard from it, it could be the album of the year.

“GA-CHA,” like “Cha-Cha.” DOLL$BOXX is this band (F-CHOPPER KOGA, HANA, OREO LEONA, and TOMOZO), with FUKI on lead vocals instead of pink-haired ANGELINA 1/3, whom you see here, on lead vocals. The breakdown is phenomenal, not just for the skill of each musician, but espy for their interplay and the way they weave their lines, and runs together to create a fascinating series of calls and responses. Always listen to their studio recordings first, because their stage shows are so chaotic that the songs often sound quite different live.

Welcome (finally, lol) to the incredible world of Gacharic Spin! They are phenomenal musicians who are not afraid to explore and expand on their music styles. Hana is a multi-instrumentalist. It is worth noting that Yuri, their drummer was on maternity leave when the video was filmed. In steps Hana. Angie has only been with them for about 3 years now, give or take, but adds so much more flexibility to their vocals. Tomo-Zo is a very underrated guitarist and can shred with the best of them. Koga is one of the best bass players out there and is comparable to Misa. I look forward to more reactions for Gacharic Spin. And happy to see you're recovering from pneumonia. They are basically Doll $ Boxx but with a new lead singer Angie of the pink hair. Hana and Angie both growl and scream. The morph into D$B came after the Spin lost a member who passed away.

Gacharic spin was just doll$boxx without fuki.. we also Picked up the pink haired wunderkind and a drummer which means that Hana normally plays guitar these days. The other song that you need to hear off this album is I wish I. Believe it or not mindset is something of a warmup for I wish I. They also came out with a two new videos one of which is the pop song from hell and the other doesn’t really fit into any category I know and that’s just Hana becoming more and more Hana. As for live stuff it’s all over the place. These guys can give all kinds of addresses…

The song they raised after this one is called "I Wish I", and there is both a studio video version and a live video. I highly recommend that song for a studio / live comparison.

the japanese music world is deep and full of interesting stuff, and you haven't touched idols/alternative-idols yet 😂 GACHARIC SPIN is an example of long run band, they changed a lot since when they started but is nice when someone want to improve and make new interesting music. Welcome back, Chase. This is a great song to come into after being sick, LOL. Welcome to the controlled chaos of Gacharic Spin. This isn't even their full form as Yuri the drummer was out for this. The band has been through several member iterations but the main ones being Hana (GT/DR/V), F Chopper Koga (Bass), Oreo (Keys/Vocals), and TomoZo (GTR). Hana, FCK, TomoZo, and Oreo were all in Doll$boxx with Fuki as the lead singer. Angie1/3 (pink haired vocalist) and Yuri are the most recent additions to Gachapin and have really allowed the band transform itself into something truly amazing. The band has been around for several years but it is this current lineup with which they are seeing their greatest success, in my opinion. They're an amazing band all of them are extremely talented musicians with Hana being a near virtuoso on several instruments.

Glad to catch this reaction. I really like Gacharic Spin. The phrase "controlled chaos" always comes to mind. I think double reactions, like studio vs. live, are great.

"Everything everywhere all at once" is a pretty good description I think. 🤭 Good memory that you remembered Hana from Doll$boxx. Actually, 4 of the 5 ladies you've seen here are from DB and only the pink haired Energizer Bunny named Angie is new, and their actual drummer Yuri is missing due to maternity leave. Yes, the band history is long and wild. :) One half MV, the other live?
