What The Hell Is Happening to Coach? 

I used to work for coach years ago. They use quality leather and the craftsmanship is equal or better than higher luxury brands…

I like coach bags but hate that they put their logo or a big C on everything! I’m sticking with my old ones.

Coach has to get out of Outlet Malls. It cheapens the brand and made for outlet pieces aren’t as good quality as regular products, which again, cheapens the brand. I would love it if they would do a re-launch of their vintage classics from the 70’s and 80’s

I was impressed with the lavender Coach Quilted Pillow Tabby I looked at in my local Coach boutique today. Lambskin leather, very sturdy brass hardware, a thoughtfully designed bag. I am impressed with Coach’s recent resurgence.

The same marketing strategy is used everywhere, even in lower end consumer goods. not just Coach. There’s nothing wrong with Coach. There’s everything wrong with inflation and disappearing lower middle income classes.

Coach is always a winner, and they are killing it right now! Some people snub the brand because it's American. But the brand is always talked about in relation to luxury because it doesn't fit neatly into the contemporary category like MK, Tory Burch, etc. and some European "no history" brands. Some people cannot digest the fact that Coach is unique. The brand is its own category. It's who it is-- with its own history, heritage, and legacy.

People hating on coach also buy into stupid elitism. Coach is a great affordable high quality brand with actual heritage.

If the biggest worry in your life is buying a too common Coach bag I feel sorry for you

If I were Coach, I would increase/quadruple my prices and start speaking French! It seems that that's what the masses fall for.

My leather Coach bags are better quality than my Louis Vuittons. They also don't show wear as soon as my LV. They are also a much better value.

Coach is forgetting that they are entry level luxury and not luxury brand like LV.

What would help Coach is getting rid of made for outlet items. It diminishes the brand to sell cheap crap with their name on it. It’s also shady - they try to make people think they are getting a deal by having a fake higher price on the item making people feel they are getting a deal. Nope - that item was made for outlet and never the original price on the tag.

Coach make the best bags in my opinion, I have so many, all second hand.

I wish they would return to the days when it was about purchasing a high quality leather bag. I don't really want just another trend and will continue to buy vintage.

I've been sleeping on Coach, the quality of their bags and their style is unlike any other brand. Honestly, I think some of their bags are better than LV, YSL, and Chanel etc. in quality, price and style. The type of bags they're producing is timeless. Unlike other brands you can customize the bag how you want it by switching the straps and adding charms to it. I love how I can express my own individuality using their bags without having my bag look like everyone else's. All the other luxury brands make one fits all bags but not Coach. As a new customer, I love the versatility of their bags and and quality that goes into making them! So happy to have found this brand :)

Based on quality of leather, Coach is very well priced. Labour and Leather based. Louis Vuitton, if you you’re really into the leather, it’s should cost you around $400-$500 after labour. You’re paying $2,5k on status, not for the leather. Both are top quality leather.

Whats wrong with re-releasing it when a lot of people wanted it? It's the exclusivity that people wanted while still remaining approachable.

In the early 2000s wasn’t Coach only slightly cheaper than Gucci? I remember a Gucci monogram bucket bag being around $500 and coach was around $300. I haven’t priced them in a long time but I feel like Gucci is WAY more expensive now.

All I can say is buy vintage.

Coach has been doing this since the 90s. I remember being in middle school and the “It bag” was limited edition, especially during the holiday season. As we got to high school and worked summer jobs we were saving for a bag that was “sold out” by the time we could afford it which always seemed to be around the first day of school. Now that I am a parent, this video makes me wonder how my parents made it happen without internet wars and after sellers. Crazy how some things don’t change they evolve.

Coach putting random animals and things on their bags is equivalent to finding a cute jacket at forever 21 but it has some weird catch phrase on the back.

The only problem is there is no brand identity. It jumps around a lot. The thing with higher level luxury brands is there is usually a brand identity and if coach had a perfect one, they could make it very far.

I've always respected Coach from the very beginning but they just weren't my style. Until the SWAGGER was released. I have 2 of them, black anc navy. Then later, when they released the Tabby, i fell in love with those. The regular ones, not the quilted or pillow ones. Have 2 of those, black and grey. Now, I've got my eye on the BROOME in silver/blue.

Regarding Coach Outlet increasing their prices. They do it when there is an extra 15-20% off site wide promotion. When the sale ends they normally return back to 60% off.

Had the same thing with Prada…got told a certain colour was limited edition and I suppose it was for a couple of years until it popped up on their website as a standard option. Learnt pretty quickly to be aware of such advertisements since then 😂😂 I don’t regret the bag or colour, and I was new to luxury purchasing so should have questioned why it didn’t cost more than the standard.

I still have many of Coach bags 20+ years that look like new. My white Hampton bag is incomparable, 20 years old bag recognized by the store manager at Carmel by the Sea. He can't believe what he sees. I also washed my bags in the washer and air dry, then apply coach conditioner. Color does not fade, stay vibrant off the washer like brand new. That's the old version of Coach used to see as luxury products. Randomly they stil have some high quality models like the Cassie that look better than the LV pochette metis.

I think you have to understand the context in which they release snd not use terms generously. I’m not saying that they’re guilt free but a lot of bags that are limited especially with quantity numbers or runway they actually are or something they might do a prerelease with bags before they come out the following season. It’s all about the fine print and what type of item you’re buying. The quilted tabby and pillow tabby are brand staples as well as the rogue so of course your going to see them everywhere

I didn't really care for any of the limited edition releases because they weren't my style, but seeing the price for the Broome 36 made me pause & wonder if Coach will try to price out certain customers (ie, become more exculsive because they're expensive).

Remember that Coach knows who their audiences are... tht's why the FOMO marketing works for them 😊

The last coach I bought was a swinger bag and the first version of the pillow tabby bag. I’m just going to keep what I already have

i like coach, very well made, beautiful and affordable.

I get its your perspective but this is my opinion....i dont really care luxury, contemporary whatever label people wanna put on items! I just buy what i like whether its on cheaper side or very expensive! I own lots of handbags...chanel, LV, gucci and coach and i love them all. 2 me coach is just as good in my opinion. If i like it and i paid for it by working hard i don't teally care what others think. Keep in mind this is my opinion which others might not share the same thoughts...

I’ve noticed the increased prices. Coach also increases the original price when it does have a sale, so that the extra 15 or 20% discount doesn’t really reduce the price to below its usual selling price. I love Coach bags and have several but I don’t know whether I will be adding more to my collection. It would have to be a very special piece.

LV duped me into buying a navy Artsy in the first edition because during the height of the Marc Jacob’s days they did limited edition collections and colors. When they put the Artsy in heavy rotation I gave mine to my sister in law. I have vintage Coach from my mom from the 70’s. My cousin got us lots of bags when Sara Lee owned them so other than my mom’s bags I haven’t bought Coach since the 90’s.

Yeah…Coach is great quality for a decent price. Not mad at scarcity marketing with limited releases. Sometimes it’s good to only make a certain amount that you’ll know they sell. But yes? Increasing prices across the board for the same quality is crazy. It’s not just Coach Companies in many industries want to ensure their profits increase year over year, which is hard to do when pandemic profits skyrocketed. The only option is to shift their consumer base from average Americans to wealthy top 10%. Those who can afford those bags/clothes will get the majority of marketing spend but prices will increase to weed out the undesirable consumers they don’t care about. As income inequality gets worse and more jobs/opportunities leave the economy I do think we’ll see more pressure for the wealthy to keep these companies afloat. Eventually wealthier consumers will push back, and refuse to spend more unless quality or price increases. And the prices will inevitably drop down again. Just my thoughts. Basically corporate greed is to blame. And just hatred for the middle class in general. It’s hard to be middle class these days, you pay for everything out of pocket and goods/services that used to be ear marked for the lower classes is portrayed in a negative lighr

One of the bags that I regret not buying was a silk satin Coach top handle evening bag from the early 2000s. It came in black and a light pink and it had a big crystal encrusted buckle on it. That thing was so stinking cute. I don’t like the brand at all anymore. Actually I find all of the fashion of this era to be abysmal.

I love the old glove tanned leather bags the new , whatever they are, bags are not that great to me some even look cheap. I would never have a fear of missing out on a Coach bag!

Most luxury items are ugly. People just buy it to belong or simply because they want to. I find most Coach bags too busy. Just like the Louis Vuitton with the gazillion little vuittons stamped on them.

Boutique launches 10 months later outlet shoes almost the exact color ways and look.

I think I’m done with all these materialistic channels and vlogs. Im also done with buying expensive things.

I think the heat stamp style looks classic. . sold few of my LV bags months ago and bought a toy poodle dog and a coach bag. I wish I could share photo of my new puppy here, looks more luxury than these crazy CC and LV bags.

As far I I see, they are not forcing anyone to buy. They are not hurting anyone by strategizing their sales. It’s the buyers that need to check themselves. 😂

I love learning about marketing but I’m not against any type of marketing. I’m ok with it mainly Because I probably don’t have a weakness for FOMO. It’s either I want the product or I don’t/ am unsure. I think the younger generation will struggle more with this strategy though

I think I saw that bag, but honestly, I didn’t know it was some kind of famous brand. Quite frankly, those bags do not wow me, but hey, good for them if they now make oodles of money on the stupidity of people. Good for them.

Coach is notorious for that 😅😅… I’ve bought there bag for years… Key is don’t jump on it for the hype… Wait it out.. it’ll go on sale.. But if you loose sleep over it.. then that’s something you need to work on or just buy it …

Coach has the cutest styles, however I have noticed quality issues over the past few years. With these price hikes the really need to keep quality in tact.

Bro. I put in a 1k order from Coaches outlet and it was suck a cluster I never wear the stuff and vowed to never shop there again. It was like 4 calls, 3 separate deliveries, 2 trips to the ups facility re: allegedly lost package, a trip to a physical coach outlet store, and a call between a mall store and them and the dustiest crustiest packaging I’ve ver gotten from a retailer. Customer service was a battle because my order was so large they needed to go to the next page on the screen but didn’t realize it. I still have a credit I think but I’ll never use it!

They had an Italian collection that was ahead of its time. It was fabulous. Coach has lost their way. The leather is inferior; manufacturing if offshore; customers support for quality was the best! The bean counters and MBAs ruined it.
