Always nice to buy something that was mis diagnosed. I done it once. Bought a KW that ran rough and missed bad. Cummins MVT Big cam III motor. Within 5 mins of being at my mechanics shop. He took a 1 foot piece of 14 guage wire and smoothed it out. Needless to say the salesman that sold it to me watched it smooth out, and spit his beer out. He knew we did the deal on purpose. A 80' JLG with a jib is about the best Ariel lift you can buy. Cut yourself a piece of old rubber large enough to cover the control box and ziptie it on so you can cover it and flap it out of the way when you want to use it . Stops water seep age into the joy sticks an d when you want to use it in the winter you don't have to break ice and snow to use the controls. Getting that for scrap price is the deal of the century. I'd get right back at Aaron and ask him why he didn't replace them earlier as they were obviously dry rotted at first glance. 🙂 Guess it has been awhile since you have loaded either something without tracks or something wider than the steel runners. Watching you guys fix this will be a lot of fun, although I'd like to see you try fitting it in the enclosed shop as a winter project. 🙂

Get Aaron to replace the whole deck with extruded steel mesh runners over some heavy gauge aluminum diamond plate. Keep him busy and inside all winter lol
I see a project video of MBTS replacing ALL the deck wood and going through the whole trailer, call it an inspection video..then this trailer will shine...
After seeing it on Matt's channel and that it was lent from you, I don't know why it didn't pop into my head that this was what you purchased. Didn't know it was DOA when you bought it. When you had Gunnar film for you, it was obvious he wanted to be next to you to see what was going on, but good job in teaching him safety around heavy equipment, any boy oh boy is that sucker heavy. I believe the case excavators are the same as sumitomo here in Aus and they are an amazing machine. Just little things you miss when you go to other brands. Would love to see you try one out

I bought an XCMG XE27E two years ago here in germany. It has a lot of features ( second aux,hyd.coupler ect.) is nice to handle and has enough diggingpower. The drivetrain is a litle weak and shakes the maschine. reliable until know. i can not complain for the less money i paid!
Pneumatics on an 860.......yeugh!!!!! Those engines are literally bulletproof. Only problems we ever get are customers putting crap or incorrect fuel in them. Had a couple of painters pouring thinners in the tank which seizes the injector pumps. Apart from that check the gauze in the lift pump regularly as well as keep on top of filters. A cheap inline filter between the tank and engine is a must. Do not tighten the belt on the 110v generator as it only has shitty wee ball bearings that cant handle a belt that is even moderately tight, we run all ours where the belt is almost slipping it's that loose. If you're renting it out it would be worth trying to find out the history of the machine. Check if the ropes have been replaced as they are lifed items, 12yrs iirc. One thing Genie got right is making the steering work on auxiliary power. Makes recovery a whole lot easier when a customer does what a customer does best. Get a hold of a hand held analyser it'll make life a whole lot easier when the distress light starts flashing. If you have a laptop then you can download the analyser software and plug into the usb port, the lead for the usb to analyser port is far cheaper than buying a hand held analyser (I use an old 12 year old laptop that weighs about the same as 2 bricks lol). There is also a dongle available that plugs into the analyser port that connects to your phone via wi-fi.

You know Mike I think your headed in the right direction on a bad injector, I drove 18 wheeler for 15 years and it reminds of the time where I had 2 injectors go bad on my truck which had a Detroit in it, when the injectors went it totally dump fuel right into the oil pan making the oil and fuel spill right out, what a mess that was. I was nearly a 100 miles from Omaha Nebraska where I had to be towed to and get the truck fix, sat there for almost 5 days, good part is the company paid for hotel and food the entire time and the best part was I had Omaha Steak just about every day. I was very happy about that..

Based on the thumbnail, it looked like a platform lift. Of course, I doubted that since you already have a verticle platform lift. So then I was leaning toward a compactor since you ruled out digging. It looks nice enough and sounds like the price is right. 😊
That new dealership is pretty cool and it’s huge. It’s right down over by my house now since they built the new place. Just what you need, another project hahaha but it might come in handy hanging Christmas lights.
I must say Mike, I think you hit the nail on the head on the lift. It’s definitely not a turbo problem and that’s soot not oil 🤣🤣. You definitely did good aslong as they didn’t hydro lock the engine already. But still a set of rods minimal (or whole engine) wouldn’t be a hard or expensive fix. Those machines aren’t cheap.

I wouldn't mind having a boom lift like that, I will buy anything if it's cheap enough. Being an 860 means it has an 86' reach and those are powered by a water cooled Deutz D2011. You can get a major overhaul kit for around $2000 for that engine and doing the work yourself it wouldn't cost much more than that and have a fresh motor. I imagine it would be worth overhauling and putting it back to work. The tires look good and it's 4wd which is a bonus. Those things are not light in any way, I think they are around 36,000 lbs.

With that trailer can you get Aaron to build you a full width ramp for the back so you can load straight up the back without having to unhitch every time you have hidrolics so you can run lines to the back for the rams to lift it and if you make it so it folds you can make it longer and not so high when up
When you see that many guys in "company shirts" standing around when someone's loading a piece of equipment, you might as well stop and watch too, it's going to be a party!

I was going to ask why? But having seen it already in action over at Matts Castle project I can see why, in the UK if you want to hire one of these at this size it about £1000 a day. So definitely a good buy, especially if you're hiring out. 👍
The first excavator that I ever ran was a Case. People have always criticized Case, but in reality they are very nice reliable equipment. I rented one about 10 years ago that was and it was so comfortable and quiet in the cab. I could barely hear the engine it was so quit. I’d love to have a whole feet of Case equipment.
I'm spoiled being in the area I am as we were no more than 15 minutes away from dealers for most machinery including John Deere, Cat, Case, Komatsu, Kubota, Kobelco, Sennebogen. Bobcat, etc
I thought from the thumbnail DP bought a teleahandler. which he needs a lot more than another man lift. with the loader at the dirt pile a teleahandler would come in handy to load & unload equipment at the yard. he already has a man lift.

Mm, Interesting, especially seeing this unit being used by NYA Millenial a while ago, but still fun to watch it destroy the boards on the Low Boy Trailer, that was fun, what an awkward unit to load, also was interesting to see Captain Kleeman working on it a few Months ago, all comes together Now LOL
