What the Media WON'T tell you about Trevor Lawrence's New Contract 

You know what they don’t tell you. This man was 1 TD away from potentially an AFC championship appearance (the Jamal Agnew fumble doesn’t help). They don’t tell you how him and Kirk got injured week 13, and how they could’ve won the bengals, browns, and titans games if he was fully healthy. They also don’t tell you that Peyton Manning had more interceptions thrown in his first 3 years and Manning didn’t win a playoff game till age 27. And Trevor isn’t even in his prime yet, he’s 24

11 million against the cap this year, 25 million next year. Year 3, when Trevor gets into the real money, the cap will have increased dramatically, and they have the option to restructure in 2027. Plus, we have an owner willing to pay cash to relieve some of that cap hit down the road. It's a no-brainer of a deal, and I'm pumped. we got it done.

For all the people that keep saying I would rather have anyone and the 300 million to sign better players....that's literally what the Jags were for the last 20 years and where did that get us? TLAW has made us into a playoff contender. This was a great extension. Minshew played here for two years, and our expectation was "I hope we win this week". Until the injuries in week 11 we were the #1 seed in a stacked AFC. Leadership and intangibles are just as important as stats. Go see Tom Bardys first three rings if you disagree.

Look at Burrows contract. Look at Trevor’s contract. Now look at the receivers they’ve had… Worth every penny. Burrow can’t even stay on the field. Again, worth every penny.

If you don't like what he was paid, direct your anger toward the state of the QB Market Cycle. The reality is his price will only go up as the QB Market inflates. You aren't payiing for previous year's stats, you are paying for Champiobship potential. Who do the complainers think Jags could sign or draft in the Next 5 years that give the Coaching staff the confidence Lawrence does?

It's a really great contract. Locking down trevor finally gives this team a fantastic franchise qb

Being a massive critic of Trevor Lawrence's game that I personally am I have to admit that this was a steal for the Jags and a steal for Trevor. First of all, this is an extension which won't even begin till 2026 which means he's still on his rookie deal. Second, by the time all these other QB's get signed, this extension will look like chump change and third, the Jags have a clause that they can opt out after I believe it's 2027 (correct me if I'm wrong on the last part), eat the dead money, and they'll still be well within the green in cap space

Now that Trevor has a deal he'll really step up and get to next level. 13-4 for sure

Trevor is 6-1 in games where the Jags ran for over 100 yds last season, a very low bar. The fact that the Jags accomplished that feat only 8 times should tell you something. All he needs is the minimum amount of run support and pass protection and he's minimum a top 10 qb.

There's two ways we can look at the deal. You can see it as a second contract that begins in 2026 for five years or a second contract that inherits the remainder of the rookie contract starting in 2024 and goes for seven years. If you include the remainder of the rookie deal(seven years approach) then it's $45.62M on average, but you then have to offset that by them valuing Lawrence at $91.25M over 2024-2025 instead of the original $37.37M they would've spent keeping the rookie deal as is. Rookie contracts are really just altered in terms of cap hits, but the value set on each season is in stone and non-negotiable, and an extension builds upon it for the years after. Lawrence's seven years with the team is ultimately made up of $37.37M from his rookie contract and the $275M from the five-year extension plus some incentives. It sounds like there's only about $6M in total incentives for the contract that revolve around winning the AFC Championship and Super Bowl over 2026-2029. Lots of ways to look at it though and a lot of confusing language.

So Trevor get a pass/mulligan for his 1st and 3rd season ??😂😂 so if something that doesn’t go his way again this year does he get a pass for this season too?? This is why the rest of the league thinks this deal is nuts and Trev the only QB who gets all these excuses

I'm so tired of fans defending this contract 😒. Why would I want a QB who's no better than Minshew for 7 years. This franchise is literally a clown show for other franchises to laugh at. I seen a clip where Ryan Clark said Jaguars have always been bad and looked at Fred Taylor. Taylor didn't even open his mouth to correct him because he knows we are a circus.
