Transgenderism is a sin. Sin is bad for people. So it's the Church's responsibility to call people with transgender desires not to act on those desires, just as with all other sinful desires. We are all called to holiness.
And on a second note, there's no such thing as a Gay or Lesbian Catholic, if they are a true Christian whom has dropped their earthly desires and sins and chose to Follow Jesus Christ, they would simply be a Catholic, but the fact they have chosen to keep the label of Gay or Lesbian they care more for earthly ideologies than following Jesus Christ.
One of the biggest fears I think a lot of trans people have is that those few paragraphs will be used against them by their community. Right now, Trans people are some of the most vilified and vulnerable people, so the lack of an statement affirming their place in the church is a massive oversight. I understand that it takes a long time to stear a big ship, but we need to protect the communities which are most susceptible to violence.
Why would the Catholic Church agree with sexual transitions when one of the very basic tenants of the Catholic Church is humans are created by God as male & female. The Catholic Church affirms that God did not mess up. There may be 1 to 2% developmental anomalies, but that is not what is being discussed here. Those insisting on being transexual should appeal to the secular world or seek psychological help to come to terms with the sexual nature of one's body.
Do you really think that trans people themselves are the "most vilified and vulnerable people"? From what I have seen, it is the trans activist community who come in for vilification, but the actual trans person who simply wants to get on with their life receives a fair bit of support. I think the trans activists have done everyone a grave disservice through the methods they have chosen to use, especially the 'no debate' position, and the physical violence against women who may be peacefully demonstrating in a public place. Perhaps there is a backlash against trans people because of that violence, that refusal to respectfully talk to others who disagree with them.
It's saddens me that the Church spends so much time on identity politics. The Church can't accept woke policies or it will cease to be the Church. Lets get back to important issues.
