I heard about Writers Strike but never really understood what the whole story is about. Now I'm in the know.

I do think a RU-vidr union is possible, but it would look very different than what we’ve come to know as a union. What is much more likely is that RU-vid will continue to act in short term greed rather than long term interest. This will only grow services like nebula and dropout. More competitors will spawn and RU-vid will die.

Professional Wrestling writers and creatives are not striking and are not WGA affliated, despite being writers on upwards of 5 hours of live content per week. TV rights fees for professional wrestling have skyrocketed in the last 10 years due to it being relatively cheap content that captures a similar demographic to live sports. I am aware that this is niche issue but i'm just putting it here because the majority of people in the world who have a vague idea of professional wrestling and it's relative goofiness as a weird quasi sport thing don't know that wrestling shows even have writers, or if they do, don't think about them in these contexts.
