I really appreciate how you talk about being odd one out, and how important it is to build your child up to handle the things that happen. Many people want to call it racism but really a lot of times it’s just because we are different from everyone. Me and my sister were the only white kids in an African American foster home and it was crazy. Treated like a novelty and like we are weird because we don’t know what the food is and what shampoo we should use. Also I went to an all black church as an adult and attended huge family gatherings with my black friend and I was the only non black there. Really felt how odd I was, people looking at me like ‘why are you here?’ ‘Who are you?’ Because I can’t blend in. My children blend in in Northern Ireland except for their accents. But still, those experiences helped me prepare my children for school life. Even when you look the same someone will decide to bully you and while everyone talks about anti bullying, no one talks about bully proofing you child and giving them skills and understanding to keep their mental health good. Dear Nanelle, you are so inspiring. After applying all over, an agency reached out to me, and was interested in speaking to me further, but when the person went over my resume, they saw that my work experience was not paid experience 😪... She explained that a voluntary worker doesn't get the workload of a paid worker so we can't move further. On the bright side, she told me to try and get a temporary job, and get back to her in the next few months, that's the mission I'm on now. Lots of love to you, from 🇯🇲

Belfast airport is always like that. I flew home to Belfast from a trip to Dallas via Heathrow, wearing a cowboy hat. No problems in Heathrow but the security people at arrivals in Belfast asked me the reason I was coming to Northern Ireland and if I was carrying any firearms. 🙄

Never been to northern aireland but I got to interact with my brother in marriage whose irish,when he came to get my sister inlaw, all my God it was hard getting what he was saying, it was like his talking through his nose 😂,the funny part was only my son (4year old) probably coz they used to do alot of skyping and his wife(sis inlaw) was able to understand him than all of us It was hell 🤣😂 Am from Zambia by the way

I lived there before moving to England and everything you said is very true. There was a time I wanted to ship things to Africa and all the companies I contacted told me that they don't ship from NI so I had to send my box to England first, and that was an extra cost. Undeniably, the cost of living there is relatively cheaper. Good content, well done.

the flight is just $50 to $100 round trip. in canada it would be 3x more. its $130 to $220 here vancouver to kelowna round trip.

It’s not just circumcision my dear, my baby girl has not had her ears pierced yet. I can do it myself but I was told it’s abuse and I have to wait till she is at least 5 months to pierce her ears. WHAT!! Meanwhile you forgot to mention the weather 🤣 Northern Ireland is cold🥶, Everytime I go to England I always think the weather there is nice and warm but even with all your points I am never leaving Northern Ireland for England or anywhere else in the UK😃

I’m from Northern Ireland and born here. I lived in London for many years, I moved back and to see the contrast of London being so multicultural compared to Northern Ireland. Still a long way to come.

The reason there is so few people coming from other countries is because of the political side of Northern Ireland, people never wanted to come because of the constant threat of civil war, the terrorism was scary to all people here , and it hasn't been long since things calmed down so the tensions are still there even now, which is sad as most people just want to be able to get on with their lives in peace

Or it's the hospital nursing jobs that will help you??i am really confused about all these how will it go??I know you will be working in a Care home if you get a job but how then will you prepare for your OSCE??? The problem that you may not understand fully is that northern Ireland is a small British colony in Ireland it was founded on racism sectarianism and mistreatment of the native Irish population and maintained by many years of military occupation Which created colluded supplied and used sectarian paramilitaries there was kidnapping night raids assassinations torture rape forced confessions and even imprisonment without trial . Much like apartheid south africa or Israel in Palestine! also the peacefull civil rights was attacked by the 2nd para regiment. like in Kenya and apartheid's south africa there was arms trade between white supremacists and loyalists unionists are also linked politically to british imperialism mi5 mi6 and neo Nazi and Zionists. . . So this may explain any racism or sectarianism . I don't think there would be racism from the Irish republican community as Irish republicanism eas based on equality. When I was young the police and army allowed the sectarians to burn the houses of Thier non unionist non loyalist neighbours. Many of them fled and took refuge in the Republic of Ireland. others stayed where they were born and faught against the oppression and occupation.

London is amongst the largest and most cosmopolitan cities in the world, and has more than five million people there. Belfast is barely a city with well under one million within a ten-mile radius, so you cannot expect it to have a similar nightlife to London. Having said that, you are the first person I've ever know to complain about Belfast's nightlife - for the city centre is crowded with people of all ages enjoying the many pubs, restaurants and theatres most evenings. The student quarter is renowned for its energy, vitality and good nature; there are lots of sporting fixtures (football, cricket, rugby, ice hockey &etc), loads of places to visit (stately homes, castles, fairs, markets), beaches, leisure centres, funfairs and events, along with clubs and meeting places with interests for everyone, so there is no excuse for not enjoying yourself. If you are bored, you're in the wrong place! Belfast is a (fairly) remote city, far removed from the cities in England. It is a small regional city, and therefore you cannot expect to find direct flights to other parts of the world. I live in South Wales, with Cardiff the nearest large airport, but it no longer has flights to ANY of Northern Ireland's three airports, never mind Ghana or any other African, Asian or even European city; so let's get real! You say you cannot understand the Belfast accent, which is not surprising - few people in England cam understand it, and neither can anyone else. Go to Glasgow and see if you can understand the Glaswegians, or Liverpool, or Newcastle-upon-Tyne, or Birmingham. This is the first I've gone onto your channel, and I have great difficulty trying to understand your "Nording Ireling" or "Londing" - strange accents work both ways!! You gabble so fast you make yourself hard to understand. You say you love NI and the people of Belfast, yet criticise them at the same time. If your child is the only child of colour in the school, how would you expect the other kids to behave if they haven't met one before? On that particular topic, I think you are being disengenuous, for I just came out of a Belfast hospital following an accident, and every one of the ten nurses in my ward was Indian - most of them could barely speak a word of English, and certainly didn't understand my NI sense of humour. Walking around the city centre I saw dozens of Africans, Indians, Chinese, Pakistanis and Europeans; in fact, there are more Indian restaurants in Belfast than in Cardiff, the latter much more cosmopolitan than Belfast! I'm assuming you are a single parent with a very young child; there are bound to be play groups dotted all over the city, so all you have to do is contact your local council for the names and addresses of play groups and/or ethnic groups close to where you live - you should find councils very helpful in that respect. Pop into your nearest hospital - they all have ethnic nurses, doctors and anciliary staffs who would probably welcome friendships with people from their own countries; but in Belfast especially, most of them mix very well with the local mixed communities. The city has not enough people to warrant public transport for the few who wish to travel at night. I live in a fair-sized town, but I can't get a bus after 6pm during the week, and even fewer during Saturdays, and none at all on Sundays. It's one of those things you have to live with, without complaining. So if you like Belfast and your work there, stop making complaints, learn to improve your own accent and speech patterns whilst appreciating that the accent problem is a two-way problem, not just yours! If, on the other hand, you're not assimiliating the environment, either move to another city or return to Ghana. We are not a racist society, and Belfast has always made outsiders welcome; but if you feel differently, it sounds as if it's you are the problem by wanting an entire society to conform to your needs and requirements. Learn to make the allowances you seem to expect from them. I sincerely hope you remain in Belfast or wherever you wish, but you won't ever be happy if you're going to complain about everything. The world doesn't revolve around one person!
