Your last comments about stockpiling lures and the habit leading to stress and anxiety is completely spot on, and I am a prime example of it. Every time I enter my garage I'm reminded of how that part of my personality is/was out of control. I haven't subscribed to any of the boxes for years now. The lures might have a marginal value but selling the stuff is a royal PITA. So I chalk the money spent up to experience and periodically donate the stuff to Goodwill.
You said it all when mentioned having anxiety about too many baits. Its almost like being a hoarder. I'm going to start trying to sell or donate to a high school fishing team
When you said stop the madness I thought we were going to talk about why everyone needs to get off the KC Swifts bandwagon. Thank goodness we talked about fishing and not the sports ball silliness. Agree on the sub boxes. I got out of them except for Florida Tackle Club which was always great IMO but when they went out of business I was out totally. I think the Subscription for Karl's Club is worth it if you order quite a bit of fishing related gear. 40 bucks year, free shipping, sales, and the whole replacement warranty is worth it to me.
His feedback is a hundred percent true. Get a box here and there to change things up in your tackle collection and for excitement, but end it there. Your better spending the same amount of money on what you want and you can still buy random items for testing.
Every point you made is exactly what I was thinking over the years seeing people buy these boxes. Im way to picky on the baits I have confidence in to use random stuff all the time.

I agree with everything you said. I had a 6 month MTB subscription. Got a lot of stuff I never used. Got my first 6 Sack last month. Pretty neat. Probably won't keep subscribing for too long. Better to just buy what you want/need.
That are exactly the reasons I have never bought one, but it can also happen, probably it’s even worse, when you buy voluntarily a crankbait color you like but will not be never used😂. A personal statistics says I often use mo more than 10% of the lures I bring for a fishing session after a careful review the day before🤣. Same for any of you? Greetings from Italy
I agree, i did it because it was fun at first. Now I only have mine because Im more of a collector because I dont fish as much as I want. I do love some lipless 6th sense crankbaits though. I do lose a lot where I fish so I need them. Now I just go buy what I need now.
Florida Tackle Club was the only one I seriously considered doing and they were gone when I was ready to try one! So then I tried a 2-month Monsterbass subscription, (Like Buy a month get a month free type thing)and hated it. I used 1 of bait out of those 2 months worth of boxes. (They also forgot a bait each month too)
I 100% agree with you. I have so much tackle it isn’t even funny. I have boxes and boxes and boxes of tackle I never use. I probably have enough tackle to last me the rest of my life. Majority of these mystery boxes are baits I already have. I was getting the 6 sack but being a Florida angler I got tired of getting deep diving baits and I gave up on them all. I do have to say the “garage sale” sack from 6 sense is the best deal I’ve ever seen. Usually it’s 200-250 in value for $100 so even if you throw out half of the baits (usually all the baits are good) you still break even. I would only get this if I had little to no tackle and wanted a bit of quite literally everything for $100. Unfortunately I’m at the point where I just have way too much of everything and I won’t be buying anything but maybe a pack or two of stuff a year and that’s it.
I definitely agree with you! These subscription boxes are not worth it for the majority of people! I can see it being great for new anglers wanting to build a collection of baits. I only subscribe because it's fun to see what lures you get each month, even though I likely won't use half of them. The sample packs are definitely the biggest issue with these boxes to me! Three hooks, in a pack? Is it that much of a savings for them to not include two more hooks to make a complete, but small, pack?
I agree! I had a couple of these for a while but, as you say, there were many items I seldom or never used. And I accumulated SO MANY lures I was giving them all away!
I canceled all my subscriptions after almost 4 years. I do have a lot of baits I'll never throw. Also now buy what I love and works for me. Watching your 12-month MTB review confirmed my belief that all they do is repurpose baits. Keep it up Mr. Bass!
Loved the video. I got 3 mystery box subscriptions for 1 year. This winter I'm re arranging my tackle room and have a box on the floor for stuff I don't want or use. 90% of the stuff I threw in that box was junk I got from those subs. Just about everything... the marketing they do is so catchy but in reality they're making the money and we are getting screwed.
Great stuff Mr Bass ! I think those subscriptions are great for people starting out and it seems like a good way to build up a collection. As much as I love buying different colors I throw 3 maybe 4 different colors of any given technique. I’d rather stockpile a bunch of those at this point
So so true. I stopped the madness long ago. But lets face it, you don't need subscription boxes to fall victim to the craziness. How many of us only shop at a Tackle Warehouse or a Sportsman's Warehouse or any other legit fishing retailer and look at our collection of fishing stuff and go 🤦♂️? Boxes of plastics! Walls lined with fishing rods! Becoming "clearance" junkies! I think any "avid" angler will reach that 🤦♂️ point where you just step back and realize you have way more than you will ever fish with. But its the love of the sport that keeps the credit cards out. I guess.
I was gifted a 6 month mystery tacklebox subscription years ago. 4/6 boxes were incorrect including one where the best lure a topwater was missing. The only one I would want now is the Bento box but it’s dang pricy.
They never really appealed to me. I like what I like and I buy in bulk on Black Friday and July's 4th sales. I definitely try new stuff, but I like buying Japanese baits for that new gear experience.
Ive gotten all those you mentioned but one or two but have gotten multiple you didnt mention lol. If you like old vintage lures my bait shop has a cool little box to get.
I have to disagree about brands sending their lures in boxes/sacks. 6th sense is quality and so is monsterbass lure especially the newer drops from monsterbass.
@@MrBassTV well I'm more like you than them lol. I use most but not all of what comes in the subs. But I have so much tackle I honestly don't have to buy anything else and will still have plenty to fish till I'm gone from this earth lol. But it is fun getting new stuff and even collecting vintage lures.

I have tried monster bass and mystery Tackle-box , decided to keep six sense fishing because I like the baits and I think it’s a pretty good deal. I signed back up for the 6 sack to see what they are up to, but canceled after two sacks. Even though they were good sacks, I still had most if the baits already (except a few brand new ones) and could tell right away that it wasn’t worth it for me. Thanks
There is one company who say they have the best subscription box and best baits!Then you get hardbaits from castaic,bagley,b8lab,baker and lunkerhunt.Will they catch fish ?They absolutely will .But these aren’t even in the top 10 best brands! js
