I shut off personalized ads on RU-vid so whatever ad I get is based on the video I’m watching. If I’m watching something political I get a political ad and if I’m watching something home improvement I get siding ads. If I’m watching one of you costume ladies I get a brassiere ad or a makeup ad. Today was a first. RU-vid decided that the court dress video was an ideal location to place a HarleyDavidson ad. And thinking about it I think this outfit would look pretty damn impressive on a Harley Davidson.
Lol I still have personalized ads on and, despite specifically going in and selecting “not parents” because I’m staunchly childfree, I’m still getting constant diaper and Uber teen account ads. Like, at least give me ads for youth-sized shoes and socks instead because I actually wear those! Turning them off on Facebook worked well (I think it’s based on clicks there so I mostly get British and Polish bra ads because they actually make my size), so I’m definitely considering doing that on RU-vid as well.
80s big hair was THE BEST! I'd carry a can of aqua net super ultra hold in my purse to keep it that big even with a night of dancing. Loving this project!
I had last anger 80s hair and the volume was about 4"high. Then around 86' I went punk/New Wave and my hair was just straight upwards in spikes. I still.use Aqua Net but probably 1/100,000ths less of it. A whole can last maybe a year instead of a week lol.
I love the dress you’re working on but I couldn’t help notice the blue dress you’re wearing at the end of the video. I absolutely adore it. 🥰 It’s giving Fairy Godmother vibes.
That dress is HUGE omg 😂. I really love the effect you managed to create with the neck lace - its really pretty! And the gold lace and red silk combo on the train is very beautiful 😍. Im looking forward to the (eventual!) reveal!
I like the wig color you got. As a grey haired lady, I must say that grey wigs are few and far between. Also luckily for me, they are the shades that result when you originally had very dark hair. If I was you, I'd go for a platinum blonde Instead of true gray if I needed a "grey" wig. I really enjoy these types of videos when you explain your decisions.
Been fun to follow this video series. In the town of 40,000+ people, I'm the only one that sews clothes. The rest all sew quilts, so the Internet is the only place I can be with.others who sew clothes. I am envious of your having the means to afford such projects. I'm on disability and well living in my Kids' basement in my later 50s. One day, I will be able to do a.project or two from Simplicity's costume line. Mine will be totally Gothed out 😊. Recently my kids bought me quite a bit of various nice quality fabrics and am slowly planning out turning them into contemporary creations. Am going to sew a simple black Ponte knit A line skirt with a subtle profile. Then I plan I plan with on a neo 70s blouse with a long pointed collar and sleeves that puff out just before the cuff. Will have both front and back fisheye darts. The fabric is a black/red/white/grey stripe quilting cotton. My youngest son bought it for me when I saw it in the clearance for $1.20 A yd at Wal-Mart.
I'm in awe of this gown. It has me just speechless...when it is done, it may just be your finest project, at least to me. I love the colors, the lace, the cap, all of it. I know you will be beautiful in it. Its a wow...😍😍😍💖💖💖
I'm listening and my suggestion is to take the star brooch and use the gold lace to make a basic rosette by gathering the lace into a central point, and put the star in it.
I think I actually started following you when you were doing that sewing/pincushion hat video. Wow! The wig looks so much better on your than on the website. Good for you finding a diamond in the rough. And you are SO ADORABLE!
As always, I am super impressed with the beautiful gowns you create. A suggestion for your lace trim. I used to attach that sort of trim to angel gowns, and to anchor down the loopy bits, I used a Hopping Foot (sometimes called a darning, open toe, or free motion quilting foot) in conjunction with lowering the feed dogs on my machine. This allows you to sew in any direction without having to stop and start as you move your fabric around. It takes practice for sure, but cuts the time to sew around the loopy bits. I think for me, my favourite parts (although the whole thing is wonderful) are the bodice fronts and neck treatment, that train, and the whole head piece, including the lovely curly wig. I think you have made lovely style choices.
Everything about this gown is pretty amazing. I haven't been hearing much CoCo buzz yet. "Costumes of Stage and Screen." I'm thinking there'll be lots of Bridgerton there, but I think I'd make a Streisand gown. Funny Girl, Hello Dolly..... SciFi fans will have their day to shine. Your Swim Dress is right on this year's theme!! I can't wait!!
You took what's supposed to be an awkward and peculiar oddity from fashion history and actually made it look so very regal and beautiful. I love the feathers. Where do you get your ostrich feathers btw ? I have so much trouble finding good ones for my 1910s hats.
Thanks! These were actually part of a feathers class from costume college a couple years ago - I haven't purchased any others quite so large otherwise.
He had a tumor removed and he's on chemotherapy right now. I think we might find out at next month's appointment if it has been at all effective so far.
That has to be one of the ugliest effing dresses ever! (In a good way of course because I’m pretty sure that was the intention) Kinda looks like a dirndl? You are one talented woman! Legit with how bridgerton budget was this dress would’ve been a snap! The could’ve atleast had Queen Charlotte and her ladies in it. But alas the hype is dead and the fans are outraged.
Wig giving me 3 Musketeers 😍! Think about it my Lady 😉 I like how your fur came out.👍💓 I was reading a Tam o shanter but then you said turban- right ! 😊 Did you make a plastic template for tracing markings for the sequins? That would speed up the marking. It's coming along nicely. 🩷 ps Good work Lion 😊
