I think these skills will be useful in the future when we get decorations, but your analysis is pretty much bang on. Just not enough armor skill slots available atm to fit crit boost. I’ll probably craft them anyway at lower priority because the weapons are also kind of lackluster for the investment in my opinion.
I do have some good news - I have reliable information that the upcoming subspecies Coral Pukei-Pukei will have some insane gear that may make pursuing a Critical Boost set worth it. In particular, Coral Pukei's helmet. The helmet is going to be a major upgrade over the Kulu one. At G5, it will have Weakness Exploit 1. At G6, it will get Lock-On. But it will be the first piece of armor to have another skill point unlocked at G8, if you're willing to take it that far - it will get Weakness Exploit 2! So, for the ultimate Affinity + Critical Boost set, you will want the following, at G6 minimum unless otherwise stated: Coral Pukei helmet (G8) Rathalos chest Azure Rathalos arms Pink Rathian waist Kulu Ya Ku legs This will give you Lock-On, Critical Eye 4, Weakness Exploit 4 and Critical Boost 2 without any decorations. With a Grade 7 Kulu Long Sword, it will have 50% affinity against non-weak-spots (20% from its natural affinity, 30% from Critical Eye 4) , and a whopping 90% affinity against weak-spots, with +40% damage on critical hits. If you have the time and willingness to get a Kulu weapon all the way to Grade 10, it will get 60% on non-weakspots, and 100% affinity (meaning a guaranteed critical hit) on weak spots! Even getting it to G8 will raise your affinity to 55% or 90% vs weak spots. But even just doing Weakness Exploit 3 will be fine, as it will be just 5% less Affinity on weak spots in every case. Sadly, elemental or Heroics will still probably be better. But if we get Fire/Ice/Thunder/Water/Dragon Attack decorations, then I'm sure this set will probably become THE meta set.
The only armor parts that are impactful would be Helm for Focus 2 Chest for Fire Attack 1 and Earplugs lvl 2 (paired with Rath weapon it will be level 3) Boots for Reload speed and fire attack 1 for LBG users to invest more levels on Fire Attack. Chest is really a top prio for melee to optimize a build with Lock On but only if we get Black Diablos Coil.
I was hoping that we would get Lock On for either the legs or chest to have a bit more flexibility on other builds. I'm sure it's only a matter of time until we have that skill on each type of armor piece but having it now would give Azure Rathalos at least something to incentivize us to hunt it. Or just make it a universal mechanic already. Maybe tone down the tracking a bit to balance it out, idk. I'm still not over the fact that Lock On is an armor skill.
Did you know there is a point where multiplicative skills can out-scale the insane amount of +500 additive elemental damage? Most won't need to worry. It's not until super late game. But the day will come when people stop saying "Elemental Damage is King".
Raw is king in damage.... especially with azure rathalos gear for crit boost paired with b.dibble gear. Great for hammer or the d.b *not soo much for b.dibble bow* Most players seen said videos from players that spoof super hard and miss guide the rest of the new community with their silly" slay fast and elemental weapons only viable end game" That whole slay fast don't break many parts works for ppl spoofn... seriously. Logically you get 3 hours for what's around you and ya gotta make the most out the loot you can get from them. And because of this if come up with a 10/10 slogan that boils the spoofers blood 😂 "It's not about how fast you slay it .... little brain logic.... It's how slow you Flay it.... big brain logic" 😂
In that sample build you show, if you just swap the waist for Pink Rathian waist, you are at 90% affinity and the Azure Rathalos gloves are bis in that build to bring Crit DMG up to 135%. Of course raw is still weaker than elemental, but it’s a good all-around set. Azure Rathalos waist is definitely not worth crafting, but gloves could be if you use Kulu LS (like I do).
The additional 2 points of crit eye from the pink rathian waist will only add 20% more affinity. If you use kulu grade 10 weapon that the additional 30% but then again kulu has low raw and since you lowered crit boost that even lower damage multiplied
@@PauwerPlays Yeah I hear you. I was just pointing out that Crit Eye +5 and Crit Boost +2 is more dps than what you were showing with Crit Eye +3 and Crit Boost +3. Kulu LS at G10 it’s actually 95% affinity with 30% from weapon, 25% from WEX and 40% from CE. So having 10% extra Crit DMG in the glove slot works pretty well. Love the vids man!
Apparently critical hits acutally count elemental damage, at least that the info I got from game8 affinity meaning and guide, so the math is (Raw + Elemental) x (Motion Value and Hit Zone multipliers) x (1.25) = Final Critical Damage Calculation
Hi pauwer, thanks for the clear video. Wanted to ask your opinion on the best raw damage build for hammer? What is your opinion on diablos legs with the slugger +10%? Wondering if you have an analysis on this. Thank you! Currently im using rathalos head, rathalos chest, the lock on glove, barbaros waist and diablos legs.
Havent test it out yet but slugger is ok. I suggest trying partbreaker as well over rathalos mail wex. Hammer doesn't hit fast like other weapons so with a low crit chance, hammer strikes have lesser chance to crit
And here I'm waiting for a freaking Dragon Elemental Hammer weapon. I was hoping for the Azure Rathalos to be it but nope.... Still have to wait while all the other weapons have one. Geez...
Did they nerf focus 2 on the Azure Rathlos helm? I didn't check it before I created it and it only has focus 1. I feel like I should have gone for the critical boost gloves now, especially considering they will be new content dropping in a few days. That might be a useful skill soon
@@PauwerPlays ahh ok, I thought it started at focus 2 from crafting. That's why I thought most hunters were hype on it. My bad.. I'll keep using my Pukei P. Helm cause I get that health boost. Lol
I'm going for the chest piece first for the fire attack. That will help me with those ice monsters. It's funny how Azure Rathlos is way easier for me to kill than pink Rathian. Crap I probably jinxed myself. I said the same thing for pink then suddenly she got harder. Lol. Ah well
Dont jinx it haha! I have more trouble with azure when using the lance. His attacks have a long start up that i mistime my counters and get so much chip 😭
@@PauwerPlays I'm going the cheap route. I've been using my bow cause it's my strongest ice weapon. But once I get my chest piece(need x2 azure marrows) I'll try the lance. I want to get better with it
can you guys please tell me if its worth upgrading my legiana and tobi weapons since zinorge and barioth are out? i havent seen their weapons and i dont want to waste materials.
