I couldn't believe what I saw happening on my mobile phone after sending a doc file from one email to another from my laptop, and when I went to download it, a window opened from Microsoft telling me to sign into my account so that I can share files from one device to another, even though it was via email. So I changed the file from doc to pdf and nothing. Really Microsoft, snooping on what is being sent. Privacy rights.

Hi Brian, I hope you are doing well. Very nice and interesting video, as usual. Thanks a lot for all this job you do for all the community and your members. Congratulations as well for your smart and clear explanations. I just wondered after having looked at just a small part of this debloater why they “parse” powershell within CMD. Why didn’t they just created a .ps1 file, once checked your choices, to be run. I confess that I found this strange, being as if they would use a kind of “call” function in a programming language. But maybe there are other reasons I’d be interested to know and learn. Many thanks in advance for your reply, if you have time to answer. By the way, I have a suggestion for an upcoming video, if you agree of course. The idea is to have your own database of whatever you want but a database with at least simple relationships. Obviously, it’s much simpler to do it on Linux using for example Java, Tomcat and MariaDB but… not yet being at ease with Linux and thanks to all available software you can find on Windows, users may want to make their requests and to display results in Windows. Using MS Office or an alternate software, dashboards or results can easily be customized. Which solution would you recommend in such a case? A dual boot machine or a PC running windows and at the same time a Linux virtual machine, with these tools I mentioned above?

My laptop comes with a handy little protection measure to prevent the garbage that is Windows 11 from being installed on it. It's called TPM 1.x

Not sure if you've made a video on it yet, but you can use a program called NTLite and remove all the bloat and create a custom ISO before installation.

Disable Recall sounds good to run after the 24H2 update (really they're ripping out Win 11 and reinstalling a new version). Or better yet, wait for 24H2 to be the basis of the downloadable installation media, wipe your c: drive, do a fresh install, THEN run the debloat scripts of choice.

On a system where the updates routines remain, are these other changes persistent across updates or do they have to be redone every time there's a major Windows update? On second thought, doesn't matter. After faffing with Windows 3.1, 95, 98, XP, Vista, 8, 10, and now 11, I'm done. It's been a long, time-wasting road with Microsoft. Nice instructional though. Great for all those still putting up with this...stuff.

That's the thing about Windows is that if you disable a thing via FORCE like as with a program or an undocumented registry key, Windows will go 'Wait a minute, something does not look right here....' Whereas on the other hand, if you disable a thing the supported and documented way, Windows won't scold you

if you say in the video you will leave the link to the github of the program in the description, leave the link there. dont make it a link to your personal site first where you have the github link then. leaving your personal link in there is totally legit, but it feels scummy to not link to the primary resource directly in the description. Rest of the video is very nice info and good timing since i have to make a fresh windows install today

IMO Windows Defender is also a privacy nightmare and eats performance as it runs in the background.

Welcome to every antivirus ever. In the event Microsoft Defender Antivirus can't make a clear determination, file metadata is sent to the cloud protection service. Often within milliseconds, the cloud protection service can determine based on the metadata as to whether the file is malicious or not a threat. A small metadata payload is sent, with the goal of reaching a verdict of malware or not a threat. The metadata doesn't include personally identifiable information (PII). Information such as filenames, are hashed.

All scripts are in the sense of the word. I'd rather use the in-built Settings, but that's just me. Some services are co-dependent on others and disabling this or that via script might come with harder troubleshooting.

You can also play it safe-ish and click Standard and then click Play. But it's still good to be cautious if youi don't really know what you're doing. As Brian said, always have a System Restore point first!!

Except for the fact that that OS with 3% market share is probably running everywhere from in your pocket, to on your router and TV, to powering your favorite search engine and video streaming site. The desktop is not everything and excludes large swathes of systems. And you talk as if 3% is not a lot--but you seem to be ignorant of how percentages actually work if you don't think that 3% of desktop machines is not a large number.@@Digmen1

Microsoft never specified a release window but it's speculated to be late 2025. With the direction Microsoft is going don't be surprised if it's even worse than 11.

One little tip: if you're going section by section and applying the selected settings by hitting the olay button, it will go through and do ALL selected tweaks, including tweaks you already made. So watch for that. And thank goodness for the revert feature because I did remove the store. :/ But reverting that isn't foolproof either.

Microsoft does. It is one company. It are not plurals companies. You can go ahead and stop adding "go ahead and" to the instructions. All three of those words are redundant. You can do also omit "do" when you say "can". I promise you can. "Ones". The plural of one.... If it is one, it is singular. If it is plural, it is not one.

To be fair though, Microsoft are pretty desperate as well: downloading data/telemetry, getting people to use MS accounts, have computers full of bloatware and basically take control of your computer, etc etc etc. Otherwise us lot would not need this great sort of content on your channel.

in many cases all you need is just to skip winver test for your browser and other programs installations. But it's not good anyway, better to install some lightweight linux distro on an old piece of PC

@@Mario583a Hoops? What are you talking about? Everyone can find the official non-evaluation ISO by searching on internet for 30 seconds and when it asks for the key, insert the one that ends with "YY74H" (for Win10 LTSC Iot 2021, again you can find it by searching a bit).
