What to do if you CAN'T DRAG AUDIO into FL Studio 

this didnt fix my problem when i import or drag an mp3 into my new untouched project it just makes a little line on one of the tracks or sometimes a little red line with the mp3 just pushed together with no sound making it replay over and over again plz someone help me

For anyone still having problems with this. You might be dragging samples directly from a zipped folder. Copy or cut them into a new folder and voila ! It solved it for me.

My Problem: Converted my file to both .mp3 and .wav but Fl studio still wouldnt let me drag and drop my file. Administrative box was unchecked and I did not successfully locate the user folder mentioned in the forum. SOLUTION: Left click file that you're trying to drag on Fl studio -> Select "open with" -> Select FL studio. Afterwards open FL studio -> click "add" button -> click audio clip -> select "my files" -> select "my samples" TADA you should see the file. I was so excited when this method worked for me, hope it helps someone else. Happy creating yall.

What about trying to drag a mp3 into it but it actually lands on a track, but it’s small as hell and doesn’t play!

Seen a few comments about people still not being able to drag & drop files but when they do it imports the file but you can only see a very small line.... I believe this is some type of glitch or w.e if the file your trying to drop is an mp3 try converting it to a wav file. this immediately fixed my issue. In the past I've never had issues with mp3 files but with the most recent update mp3 & mp4 files don't seem to work. Hopefully this fixes your issue!!!!

PLEASE HELP ME... I can't get it to work, I cant add any samples to the playlist without being in the piano roll, I can't add anything that looks like a waveform to the playlist.

For those who are still Lost, I had some luck changing the FIle from .mp3 to .wav , this did help sometimes, But lately in the last updates between of version 20...its been impossible to drop a large mp3 of any kind. WHAT GIVES IMAGE LINE?

I got another solution! Check that sample or mp3 file's name and folder's name! It should be readable properly and make sure it has simple title! Example : If your folder name is "SAMPLE_PACK_FREE_Trap_Beat" then it won't work because FL couldn't read properly the folder's title! Same goes with the mp3 file name, if that file's name is also unreadable then fl studio won't let you drag it! So change the folder and sample's name to readable like "Sample Pack Free Trap Beat" or "Sample.mp3"

I have a similar problem to this, but in a different way. The "Audio Clip", "Automation Clip" is not showing up from any of my mp3s and/or wavs 'cause for some reason it didn't show up. Any suggestions?

I’m having an issue where it won’t play my sounds at all! It will play the stock sounds but when I click on a sound in the browser or drag it to playlist nothing plays or loads up???

My Problem is when I go to properties, I have only 4 options. Which means I can´t choose compatibility

Also make sure the clip you`re trying to drag is actually in a supported format like .wav or something and not an unsupported one.

So I have Run as Administrator turned off but I'm still having trouble. It seems to let me load some files onto a track in FL 20, but not others, even when they're the same filetype (MP3). It will let me open the tricky file on FL but won't allow it to be assigned to a track or play audio, instead just showing a greyed out name of the file on the bank to the left of the tracks. Been trying to find a solution but no luck yet. Anyone have any suggestions?

Here is a very easiest way try to rename your file from m4a/mp3 to wav and it works

im not running as admin, and i have an mp3 version as well as wav of the file im trying to use.. it just shows up as a really small clip like its the wrong format... i swear sometimes FL wants me to use mp3, other days it wants wav... then today its not accepting either smfh, anybody know what to do?

okay so i just had a similar issue where my beats wouldnt drag into the playlist and what i realized was the beats were in a zipped folder still once i extracted it it allowed me to load it like normal maybe this will help someone

I can't drag and drop audio clips now with version 21.2 also i cant consolidate patterns to audio files. I have been troubleshooting for some time now, and running as non-administrator doesn't fix the problem. I can't drag an drop from nowhere, my personal samples and samplepacks and even FL native samples wont import into the playlist. Have anyone had the same problem?

Hi,Thanks you for sharing this video, my issue right now is I'm finally able to drag and drop my Splice Loop into FL Studio but the file is so small I can't tell what its doing lol... when I see others drag and drop there splice file its a wide but when I drop mine its super thin almost like its not there I'm totally new to FL.

At this point I’m beyond lost, I’ve spent hours trying to figure out why I can only drag certain files into FL studio, I’ve changed compatibility/administration setting, all troubleshooting multiple times, what can I possibly do.

soooooo the beat that i bought came with a mp3, wav, and stem files. theres a sound from the wav file that i want to drag into the beat but when i drag and drop it just copy and pastes the entire beat on to the dashboard. anyone can help ?

Still didn't works for me (that's including people suggestions within comments section.) I'm going have to backup my fl studio 21 save project data ect. Than uninstall or update 1st once backup then if after updating didn't work then Unstalled fl studio once backup all my stuff on there. Then install fl studio 21 again. Perhaps that way it will finally works for me again. (As experience fl studio producer since late 2000s demo finally get into fl studio around mid 2010's this is the first time myself experience this issue. This year2023.)

So does FL demo version does everything and even more than Fl fruity edition, except in fruity edition you can go back and edit a project.

It has something to do with the MP3s. i used to use soundcloud to mp3 and dragging those mp3s always worked until they just changed it yesterday and it no longer works. YTmp3's have never worked with my FL either but yet i can still play them in windows. however they do work in Serato but not FL, i dont understand =[

Does this fix the issue of recording audio and then not be able to edit that audio in new time? Have to wait a while to check hence me asking in here.
