What to Do If You See a Copyright Notice on TikTok? 

Great question, horrible reply. What this caller is asking and I think you guys know is as follows. When an artist uploads the official music video of their song to youtube, what do they have to do or what is the procedure to inform youtube that the artist making the music video and uploading it is the owner of the Copywrite? that way it doesn't get flagged and they can monetize their music video on their youtube channel without getting a strick every time? Please answer that.

Yeah this is a huge issue that y’all need to address… its not good that you don’t know about this issue. We can’t use our own song clips!

This happens with all the distro services. It sucks.

I got a copyright claim for using tiktoks own music. Like OK but that's a them problem. I didn't put it in the catalogue in the first place 🤣

It’s not just CD baby! I have gotten the same violations for songs I made , to leased beats! I would say it’s more of a TikTok problem but I’m here trying to figure this out too

OMG I have just came across this! I have been searching for the answer to this for so long! My issue isn't with CD Baby it was my record label that distributed my tracks

I get so angry, every time I post a video, whether it's using audio before 1923 (public Domain), or my own, the sound gets flagged on social media and I always have to file disputes which usually gets my rights back (except on tikTok where you get no response to your copyright disputes). This is frustrating because those first few days are important. One time My video got flagged for singing my own rendition of House of the Rising Son which was first recorded in 1917 and is as old as the 17th century. I won and it's back up, but it is so frustrating to have to go through hoops to do this. Ugh!

I know this video is old, but I’m here because I was trying to Google how to fix this exact problem, so obviously 4 months later, it’s still happening! This week, I’ve had a problem on FB, Insta and TikTok. I was able to submit a report to FB and Insta stating that I own the rights to my music, but I CANNOT figure out how to fix it on TikTok. It’s so frustrating! I have invested so must much in my music, only for no one to be able to hear it? Please CD baby can you fix this problem?

Can I ask you this sir, my song on tiktok has been used in HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of videos on tiktok.... if i set out claims to all of those videos.... will they get taken down?? or muted?? i dont want that to happen!!!

I had this happen today. I don't use cd baby (at least for this release) with Instagram it happened but I appealed it and told them I wrote the music and there was no issue. It seems to be a tiktok problem ATM because I can't get around it with them.

The same issue I have, my video sound was muted and I reallly can`t provide any videos with my song!!!! WTF!!! WHY DO YOU DON`T ANSWER THIS QUESTION???????? THIS VIDEO DON`T HELP.

I have an idea. Why don't you allow publishers to whitelist their social media accounts to post their own music? Wouldn't that be elegant.

I posted a video of me woodworking in the shop..they muted the audio. The audio is the sound of my power tool and fans running in the background and no words. It's the original sound of the actual video clip from my phone. Wtf

I used my own music and they muted it. I finished editing my song that I also registered the same day and they removed my song from my drone footage. This is not right. I am so livid. I have rights to my own music.

I'm pretty sure TikTok doesn't monitize so they just block things. I've gotten a couple videos blocked on TikTok since I put my new CD out on CDBaby, including a live performance and a whole music video. When I uploaded it, it got 300 views in like the first minute, which was on par with my only other well-performing video, then it was blocked. I'd tag you in it but it's blocked so not easy to do unless you want to coordinate and try to upload it so you can see it in the first minute before it is blocked again.

CDbaby, you should seriously do something about this issue! I'm afraid of releasing a song with you because I have songs uploaded directly to my Tiktok profile and I'm afraid that my profile will be banned if I release the songs officially through digital distribution. Distrokid can connect Tiktok music with Tiktok artist profile! You should be able to do this too.

My roommate has made many songs live and tried to upload the clip and they get pulled. If we think like a Corp. it would make sense that as a basic “rule” or starting point, if the song was not submitted to their “free use” then it gets copyright hit. Much smaller data base to search from and would account for tracks that dont exist in copyright world. (Again just as the general starting point). Since tiktok wasnt told its free use, then it must be copyright. This does 2 things. 1. Would make sure they dont get any issues from labels suing them. And 2. “Forces” artists to allow tiktok users “including the original artist” rights to use it on their platform. So for the 90% of users that are listeners they can make content that gets copyright everywhere else EXCEPT tiktok so all those dancing people or some ex girlfriend can get their point across with the song they heard on the radio

Free Event, Open to Public, on Public street at local mall, Christmas Laser Show, Non-Monetized account, was a show from, just reached 200 hits in Dec 2023, on Tik Tok, Hit with a copyright notice. Not looking to monetize, don't care in the long run to change the music either, but things that stick out to me, RIGHT to PRIVACY in public, Fair USE Act, don't know the name of the original artist, nor who was covering the 2 minutes of the song Last Year for Christmas (Just looked it up, Wham is the original Artist, sounded more like Beiber Singing this version) My DGAF realizes SONY owns TIK TOK somewhere in the mix, and those Bastards always run the copyright notice in the most (as you can see by my droning on) Significant way. But I suggest you list the original artist, singer, if you monetize your channels. -
