Well I had emptied some orchid medium into my veggie garden. In the fall when I cleaned the garden out I found my cattleya in the garden.. It was in there all summer just laying there (under tomatoes) and she was actually doing better then in my home 😂😂 Now she's in a ikea cabinet and doing well..
I had my one very large Phal fall out of its pot two times , so I added some medium size stones and that helped until it took root again then I removed them. Thank you for great ideas.
I have had a problem with a dendrobium nobile orchid who was top heavy fall over off the very top of the shelf it was on. It happened in the middle of the night and I woke up to see bark everywhere. I was mortified. It was a variegated one and one of the pseudo bulbs broke. I wanted to die. It is doing much better now and I put it in a really heavy outer pot this time.
I had a phal flower spike grow into a hot metal shade by accident. I cut the spike below it and put some keiki paste on the next two lower nodes after peeling the vellum off and now I have flower buds again! I’ve also done that when I broke one by accident by dropping it.
I ordered a new plant (mini mark) received it half out of the pot. Tried pushing the spagna down but the plant was too heavy on one side it fell over again. I watered it as best as I could, long story. Anyhow I decided to transplant it back into the 1” pot, it wouldn’t fit so I put it in a 2” pot. It lost its stems 😢 but it is still alive. Waiting for new roots and a sign of a new leaf. ❤️Carol
I once left home for a day, when I come back there were chickens in my room where I kept my orchids. The damage what they've done was hart broken. Now if I see some chicken come close to my home I chase them.
I bought a fox tail orchid from p.r.orchids about 2 weeks ago it came in late it only had one baby tiny root on it and the root was a little squishy I let it be and when I checked on it yesterday the coating came off it still has the little string but can you put rooting hormones on it or just pray this 30 dollar baby is not gonna die 😢😢
I just repotted both of these as you can see the tiny one is leaning I could not get it to sit right. Any suggestions. The larger I have had for about 8 months it has just come out of blooms dying when I repotted. The leaf is splitting
I found an orchid left to die at Home Depot it fell of the display table it fell out of its pot and the spike was broken the leaves are bent from scaring. It grew a branch from the spike
Hi, Been watching your videos for a while and wanted to get your opinion on cinnamon powder in orchid media. Cinnamon is an antifungal and repels many pest including fungus gnats. I've noted no issues but would like your opinion.
A long time ago I had an orchid with a blister. I was told to put cinnamon on it and the blister dried up and the plant never got another one. I had not heard that cinnamon would deal with fungus gnats.
Just the video I needed, I was given a new epidendrum yesterday and it was already half out of its pot. Then I tried to stabilise it , but I’m clumsy so I knocked it over with my sleeve and broke three flower spikes. Gutted . I am sadly my orchids worst enemy sometimes. My 4 cats don’t do as much damage as my clumsy accidents. 🫣
