Hi! Y’all are so fun!!! Just recently found your channel so I’m watching your journey from the beginning!!! My husband and I have 3 children (8,4, infant) and we want to do some extended travel. So great to see another family with young kids getting out and exploring!!!! So inspired by you!

Hiii!! Thank you for connecting, it's so great to hear from you and these words!! Wow, you're inspiring me right back. Please if you have any questions, feel free to DM me on Instagram (unless RU-vid has a feature I'm not aware of?). I'm honestly happy to answer any planning questions. This is us: instagram.com/findingsalas/ Until then, happy daydreaming! - Hugs, Alison

You two are adorable. I’m actually moving to Colombia. Traveling with your family is so inspirational to me as I don’t want to stop traveling when I become a mom soon. 🙏🏾

Hi Kozette! Thank you for watching and what a beautiful comment!! Nope, life doesn't have to stop with kids. The adventure can definitely continue. We've done all kinds of things with them, even things we never tried as adults. We wish you the best in your move and your journey!! ❤️

I love that you actually added original Colombian music. It´s really annoying when documentaries or TV shows are trying to portray South American countries and always use some random guitar music that has nothing to do with the particular country. I guess the editor just goes like, yeah that sounds festive or Latin, I´ll use it.

Hi Natalia! Thanks for watching and noticing, and for taking time to share that! We totally agree with you on this. Unfortunately though, many authentic songs are blocked on RU-vid due to copyright claims. So while we tried to include local music in our Colombia, Peru, and Brazil vlogs -- this means they end up being blocked entirely in many countries due to those copyright claims. But, hoping those who can see them have enjoyed that touch. ☺️

Did you prefer medelin or bogota for traveling? I’m planning a trip with my two little ones as well.. and planning to ho either of them. Which would you recommend?

Hi and thanks for watching! This is a great question, and timely too since we just revisited Medellin (though unfortunately the vlog won't be out on the for at least a few more months as we work through other trips first). Are you looking for just one base and things to do in/around there? Asking because a) the domestic flights with Avianca and other national carriers are very reasonably priced and most flights are about an hour so it's easier than some countries to do more than one city in a single trip; but also b) because most international if not many domestic flights end up connecting through Bogota so you would be there anyways. We visited Medellin and two other new (to us) cities, and ended up spending a night in Bogota on the way out. But if you are looking to just do one or the other, happy to help you think that through too. 😁

If you are only picking one, Medellin might win out here (though we really enjoyed both). A few reasons why new visitors like it: the weather is almost always perfect (since it is nestled in a valley whereas Bogota can be a bit chillier due to higher elevation); its smaller and more manageable with kids but still with a ton of sights and attractions; it also has more of a fun vibe than the capital city (both due to the super friendly paisas but also the all the innovation happening there). We are not experts on Colombia, but we have visited three times and spent time in a handful of different regions and found all of them to be so vibrant and beautiful in their own way. The people are truly lovely. ❤

@@FindingSalas Thank you for your response. Three times! That motivates me now. I was little skeptical initially for my trip, your message definitely helped. I was leaning towards Medelin as well. Any experiences or must sees you would recommend with kids? I am planning a day trip to Gautape during my 3 night stay there. Planning a free walking tour on day 1 to see the place from the eyes of the locals.

@@FindingSalas I am planning to go Medelin and Pereira (to see Cocora valley) and then to Quito. I am yet to book the internal flights. Though most international and domestic flight go via Bogota, Medelin was sort of a winner in most aspects.

@@Travelmumoftwo you are not alone there, and not sure why Colombia isn't more popular internationally but in the meantime the prices remain very fair if not low for all that is offered. We have had the most beautiful Airbnbs and hotels for surprising prices, delicious meals that cost us a fraction of what the US does.
