What to do in El Chaltén, trekking capital of Argentina

Also known as 'Mount Fitz Roy', this majestic mountain stands like a granite colossus, reaching a height of more than 3,400 meters above sea level. Its imposing presence has captivated mountaineers and adventurers from all over the world.
This is my last penultimate video of my trip through Argentina and I think it is one of the best ways to say goodbye to this beautiful country, as we will go up to one of the most iconic points within the hiking routes that exist in Patagonia, the reason why this place is considered the national capital of trekking, so here, we will walk until we reach the Laguna de los Tres and see Fitz Roy or, as many prefer to call it, Cerro El Chaltén.
The best thing you could do in El Chaltén, first of all, would undoubtedly be to go to Laguna de los Tres, which is where we will go tomorrow. What I can tell you about this tour is that I already plan to return because depending on the time of year, the landscapes will change completely. In winter, they tell us that the weather conditions are very strong and they advise avoiding them. Winter here is from June 21 to September 20. Right now, it is November, so it's spring, which is from September 21 to December 20 and, although it is spring, the lagoon was frozen. I loved seeing it like that, but they say that in summer it's a real oasis that looks like it does in this photo and that would be from December 21 to March 20 and a little of fall, which is from March 21 to June 20, so for these landscapes only, I plan to return and do the other routes.
El Chaltén has been named the national capital of trekking because in this section of the immense glacier national park the routes are self-guided, that is, most of the trails are free and you do not need any previous experience in the mountains. For the most demanding tours, such as the Laguna de los Tres, if you are a beginner, it is recommended that you hire a guide.

The main ones are Chorrillo del Salto, Mirador del Torre, Laguna Capri, Pliegue Tumbado, Laguna Torre and Laguna de los Tres.
You can do these treks alone, without a guide. For excursions, you will have to hire a guide or an agency and I think that they are very worthwhile.
Like the trek on the Cagliero and Neumeyer glaciers, kayaking and rafting through the lakes and rivers.
Someday, I will experience them all again.
