Hey Brittany! I'm on 11 grade of high school, since last year I have been thinking and planning to study dentistry!! I am so so excited! I want all ready go into university. I'm 17 years old, I'm from Mexico; since then I decided I wanted to study that I have been thinking and thinking that, I seriously can not wait! I hope when I get into there I really like it and be my fort, because I don't want to be changing career and loosing semesters. All that things from dentistry I feel are so interesting! In my country(Bosnia and Herzegovina) there are like medical high schools, and you have directions for example to be dental tehnican and stomatology nurse, and I'm going in that high school and it's amazing

hello brittany !! I'm from France in France we have a total different system we don't have high school we have a normal secondary school we call it "lycée" so we study there 3years then we pass the baccalaureate exam then we pass the acceptance test for medicine faculty .. in dentistry here we study 6years then we pass a specialty test if we pass it we will study more 4years the specialty we like ex: orthopedic I'm a third year student I wish you all the best. and remember "no pain no gain" because the following year will be tough

In dental school we focus on the biological sciences, not math, so it is not necessary. However, if you enjoy math and would like to major in it, that's fine too. You can major in anything to apply to dental school.

I'm so stressed out cos I'm in year ten of highschool and Physics and chemistry are subjects which i do take, but I'm not managing in them. They're wayyy too difficult. Mainly cos my 1st teacher didn't teach us well so now im lost since the foundation is not there. However my Biology marks are excellent. I definitely want to go into dentistry. Please help.

After high school, 4 years of university to get a Bachelors degree, and then 4 years of dental school. I believe pharmacy school is 4 years as well.

I its my first year in dentistry and I would like to know whether I should tale active participation in the co curricular activities organized by my college or focus only on studying because Im very well aware of the fact that the syllabus is enormous and no doubt its difficult. Hi Jackie, I believe that it is necessary to get a Bachelors degree from a 4 year university before applying to dental school. Community college is fine, just as long as you are able to transfer to a university after. If I were you, I would do my general education courses in community college and then take the dental school pre-requisite courses in the university!

I’m only in 9th grade right now but I’ve grown really fond of orthodontics. I am taking all AP classes except in math. I’m trying to learn more about this process so I can better prepare myself ahead of time and not wait until my senior year. I know I might change my mind but that’s exactly why I’m looking into it. My biggest issue is procrastination, I do everything at last minute the day it’s due which is probably bad 😬 Also, do you have any helpful tips for better sleep or a better sleeping schedule?

I am going to be starting my senior year in high school and am very interested in becoming an orthodontist. I have never been a fan of science and averagely passed all my science classes with a B. I know nothing about dentistry or anything of that nature. I guess what I'm asking is if becoming an orthodontist and going down that path through college, dental school, etc., would be right for me given I am interested, yet knowing I am not advanced in science. I wonder if I set myself up with all the required classes for dental school, would I pass? I just don't know exactly what I'm getting in to.

Umm Mrs.Watu I’m a sophomore in high school. I didn’t do good my freshman year so I ended up getting a 2.5 gpa. But as a sophomore I receive all As and a C+ in Spanish. But I also receive three AP recommendations to next year for my junior year which are AP Chemistry, AP US Government and AP English Language. Which those AP classes in Ct are worth 4.5. Do you think I have a shot of getting into a 4 year 3.7 gpa a school if I receive good grades meaning (A- or higher) then hopefully being able to go off to dental school.

In high school? In my high school we weren't allowed to take two sciences in our first year. If I were you, I would focus on one science, especially since the transition from middle school/junior high to high school can be rather challenging.

Highschool is 100% irrelevant to dental school. You need a solid science bachelors, or at least fill the prerequisites, and maintain a good GPA. Ideally you would finish your bachelor's in 3-4yrs. During those 3-4years you should shadow, volunteer, and study dental topics of interest on your own.

I think that to succeed in university for a bachelors, you should really get the good foundation in high school. It's really tough to mess around in high school and then go off to university and all of a sudden do amazing.

@@brittanywatu4835 I had a 2.8 in highschool, got into dental school with a 3.3, and currently have a 3.8 gpa in dental school. I don't wanna specialize so it's no big deal, I spend most of my time practicing preps, and working on hand skills. I see plenty of people that are smart that score alot lower than me on practicals. I get what you are saying, and you have a social media platform so it's good to be a good role model, but did you ever report your high school gpa to dental school? Nahhhhh... Best of luck!

okay I get As and Bs( only had 1 report card that wasn't this year) but am only in 2 honors classes that's Spanish and History. Am a Junior in High School. I do a lot of extra activities like Student Council, Key Club, Basketball, and Student Advisory. Ever since I was a Freshmen I have done the same activities not because of college but because I love them. My grades as a Junior has shot up since Freshmen and Sophomore year because I have learned how to manage my time. I guess my real question is," Do i have take honor Classes?" and " If I maintain a good GPA and test score do I still need Honor Classes?" I don't see the point because am almost a senior. Also, I seem to have a problem with studying and being a BIG TIME PROCRASTINATOR! Any tips?

From my understanding, honors classes and other advanced classes help in the long run in that 1. taking them shows undergraduate admissions that you are willing to challenge yourself and thus gives you more of a competitive edge 2. allows you to get a better foundation for undergraduate courses. Personally, if I did not take advanced classes in high school, it would have been much more difficult for me to transition from high school to college. College level courses are definitely more dense and detailed, so the jump is quite big. I hope this helps! Also I don't have any procrastination tips off the top of my head but I'll think more about it and probably make a video on it.

I'm in physics right now but my teacher is a load of crap:( and physics honors would have been a better choice but I chickened out so now I'm in regular and my teacher DOES NOT TEACH!! she literally sits at her desk and poorly goes over the notes and gives us tests that weren't any where near the notes or worksheets so she just gives us A's now because I spoke up. but giving me and A doesn't help. Its so bad that I even know more in my AP classes more than regular physics :((((

Yeah, I agree that AP bio and AP chem would be a lot of work! It depends on you, you know yourself best! I took SAT subject biology and history but I think SAT subject tests were the most useless things ever. It has been 6 years since I took my SAT subject tests so I don't know if their importance has increased over the years.

I’m considering a junior college and then transferring to a 4 year two years in, for undergrad. It would save me money do you think I would still be able to get into a dental school though?

Brittany Watu are you allowed to make a video that specifically talks about which classes should you take if you want to become a dentist? And is math a major?And I am in 8th grade going to High School in the Fall and I really I applied for Biomedical Program for my Magnet Application, and I am not sure if it will help me with dentistry or not? Should I accept or decline the offer? Is math something that you really need to be good at? If so which type of math course name it Again, Thank You.😁😁😁😁😁 I love uuuu

I think biomedical program would help but it's not necessary to get into dental school. I did not do it and I was fine. To be honest , we never use math in dental school but if that is what you are interested in, then you should do it. You don't have to major in a specific thing to get into dental school, as long as you complete the pre-requistites. Watch my video for my information. In high school you don't have to take chemistry. However you will have to take chemistry in university because it is a prerequisite for dental school.

You can take the sat or the act to get into a 4 year university to get your Bachelors. Then, After you get your Bachelors, you take the dental admissions test to get into dental school.

You can do literally anything you'd like as long as you finish the prerequisites. A lot of people choose something biology related though, because a lot of the prerequisites for dental school line up with the biology requirements.

MMv RRf 4 undergrad then the 4 years of dental school and then depending if you want to become anything specific like a oral surgeon or orthodontist is all extra years I think orthodontist is like 2 extra years
