I appreciate that you mostly let people speak in their own language. It's great for more people to hear the complex and beautiful sounds of european Portuguese.
Ann Okafor You´ll find that portugal being a small country has very different accents throughout the region. Its very hard. But when you manage to do it, its beautiful
+Ann Okafor pedro's right i am beiran from the mountains zone and my Accent is totally different of my classmates in Algarve its a matter of choice and easyness
I've been living here for half a year now and I've been in love with the place since day 1. I couldn't see myself going back to The Netherlands anytime soon.
Fiive centuries ago our ships have leaved Lisbon to the adventure of discoveries. Today Lisbon is one of the most beutiful cities in the worl. Come and see for yoursef the all Portugal.
guys, seriously, for whom never been in lisbon and in portugal, please don't die not enjoying this city and the whole country. just talk to any travel professional, they'll say this is the best you can get in so many areas: culture, food, architecture, history, language, hospitality, night fun, you name it...! It's a city invented in heaven, hard to put in words, everyone has to try it!!!
Love lisbon, been there dozens of times, spent my chilhood summers there..... theres something strange though, some parts of the city are just dead, no shops, no lights in the windows, no people walking on the sidewalks, almost no cars...... on a weekday from 19:00 youre done.... even cafeterias are closed! And so many abandoned / comdenned buildings... you gotta do somethin about that! That isnspecially true in Oporto....
Me and my girlfriend we are planning to visit Lisbon next month, I am positive we will have a great time. I like the history of the country and I also love eating :D there are a lot of reasons to go
Brett Brohman Brett you are so right on..... Besides being so, so beautiful, Lisboa is a precious jewel, a city to be admired and loved.... Lisboa has my heart and soul....
Now make a 36h Travel in Porto! We also deserve it! :D Great job promoting our country! Lisbon is a great starting point but we have so, so much more to offer! Take a week, spend 36h in Lisbon and the rest of the week traveling to other places within this small corner of Europe! You`ll be dazzled!
I love my country, Lisbon is and will allways be for me the most Wonderfull city in the world. We have a Fado thats called "Lisboa Menina e Moça" that pitures perfectlly our city of Lisbon
Nice! What an adventure!! When I've been to Lisbon I stayed in Happy Reception. Hostels have few localisation in Lisbon and it is suuuuper cool! I will definitely come back to Lisbon and I will stay in Happy Reception again!! I literally in love with pasteis! :D
I love learning about new cities most people are unaware of. However, in this video, every scene is crowded. There seems to be a line everywhere and I find that a bit challenging. You need activity and people but some areas where you enjoy the beauty of a place without so much hoopla. However, it is on my list to visit.
lisbon is a city for all ages. You got on of The most historical cities on earth, you will find very nice and educated people, beautifull collors, excellent food (top of europe). its also a great city for teenagers, i have to say
unfortunately poverty is a very big problem. most people cant enjoy the things you see in the video. uni graduates get 600euro a month o go to a shitty German or Scandinavian city to find a job
so true, cause I live on the island of Azores and we get paid once a month and have to stretch are 600euros for a month. And life here is expensive. And here heath care is not great either. I wish I had enough money to live somewhere else.
It is not graffiti, it is called a Street Art, and Lisbon is actually known for it. It runs a couple of projects of famous Street Art artists around the city. One big was actually in June -July in Alfama. Could find some images on Google; just write _Street Art Lisbon, Portugal. Enjoy!
Graffiti is sometimes found in old decadent buildings to give them more color and life. But on CP trains or the trams, or in old classical neighbourhoods or anything that is frequently used by people or a main touristic ponint, I don't really agree with it. Specially when foreign graffiti groups come and just paint trains and stations and things that are new and to use by the public society. That is already beyond the margin of disrespect of the nation they are visiting, unless they have an authorisation.
I hate to ask this, but how are racial relations here for black people? I was thinking about visiting, but don't want to go anywhere where I'm not accepted due to my skin color.
+Jesse Riley You'll be absolutely fine. Portugal has ancient ties with Africa and since the carnation revolution the immigration from there has skyrocketed (now with the current crisis a new phenomenon is that of portuguese emigrating to ancient portuguese colonies). It is impossible to walk in Lisbon without coming across people of white and dark skin. Enjoy your trip, should you decide to come.
+Jesse Riley No problems whatsoever we have a huge african comunity (portugal had colonies in africa for 500 years ) , to the extent that genuine african culture mingles with portuguese culture. Racists are praticaly non existant in Portugal.
+Jesse Riley ~lol in Lisbon there are more blacks nowadays than whites. the migration problem is very strong. in America there are 100 times more racism
+Jesse Riley dont worry, here are much black people and its perfect fine, portugal conolized angola, mozambique, cabo verde, guine, ....and was the first in the world to end slavery of blacks and not Americans; )
