Took your advice and made it a stop on our June trip to the big city from SMA. Hercules is a must-do place in QRO. I had my new favorite, pescadillos -- grilled tuna empenadas, and they were fantastic. Had an escalera (ladder) of beers, all good., btown ale the favorite. There is a little olive-oil-based soap shop in the complex that we really liked. Thank you for the recommendation.

Living in SMA, and seeing your vlog I HAVE TO GO (when things calm down.) And when things calm down you and Taylor need to visit our "neighborhood" microbrewery in south SMA, Dos Aves -- incredible IPAS from Sessions to Trippels. I hope the both of you will hit the vineyards/wineries near Querétaro soon. Mexico has the longest history of viticulture in the New World, although Mexico never became a wine country (like Chile, Argentina and Uruguay did). Would you know how long they've been growing wine in the Querétaro area?
@alex-wittman
@alex-wittman 3 года назад
I don't know the answer to that question yet, but I promise to find out! I am thinking we will do a little winery tour around Queretaro in the next couple of weeks. It's actually kind of hard to find wine made in Queretaro in the grocery stores here, so we will have to stock up from the source. Are you more into red or white? 🤓
@boink800
@boink800 3 года назад
@@alex-wittman Which wine do you see the most in the grocery stores there? The Chilean stuff? I think Baja California Norte is now the biggest wine growing area in Mexico, but that is a recent development (mostly for export). I hope you could go on a nice wine tasting tour there (with someone sober driving).
@alex-wittman
@alex-wittman 3 года назад
@@boink800 the majority of the wine sold in the grocery store is Chilean, which is fine but I wish it was easier to get my hands on Mexican wine. Yes, still figuring out the driving situation! There is an official wine & cheese tour in Queretaro OR we might splurge on Ubering around.
@boink800
@boink800 3 года назад
@@alex-wittman The reason for that is the Mexican wine is probably too expensive, like the high-quality Mexican coffee is. Most wine made is Mexico is for export (mostly to the US). If you could let us know what grape types they grow (for the wine nerds), that would be nice.
