James Bonanno first don’t go to the north side don’t go downtown at the mall there is the forks which you’ve been too there’s the museum which you’ve been too there’s speedworld the zoo
as a 'local' it's always nice to see these types of videos, especially when they're as well shot as this. The guy is right when he says you have to look a bit to find the good stuff, which is true. It's not a city that people travel too much, but there's lots of unique things to do, in the city, and outside the city with a short drive.
Nice to see something positive. There are so many salty people who hate Winnipeg. I think it depends on what people find fun or interesting. The "night life" is pretty tame, so if that's what you're looking for, there are a few spots, but nothing too crazy. Otherwise, there are a surprising amount of things to see and do that actually hold repeat value. As some other people have said, there are a ton of places a short drive away that are definitely worth the trip. Some really nice national and provincial park (Whiteshell, Spruce Woods, Riding Mountain). That's one of the best things about Winnipeg. City life with a very quick and easy escape to the wilderness.
Agree, but as someone who moved to Winnipeg from England, those places you mention are not that quick and easy. Riding Mountain is a 4 hour drive, Whiteshell 2 hour right ?
@@jhickman4735 You are correct! And I suppose that's fair. I guess I'm just used to drives of that length by now lol Side note, I hope to travel to England one day, it looks absolutely awesome :)
Nice to see Americans from down south visiting Winnipeg in the summer to see it's not always cold here lol. Plus long summer days just can't be beat. Hope you guys enjoyed our wonderful city and come back again one day. The Manitoba museum of man and nature is a great place as well and Folklarama which happens in August.
What I like about Winnipeg is the long summer days, the sun rises at 5:30 am and set at 9:30 pm and most day are usually sunny. I used to like riding my bike early in the morning because there’s almost nobody around and its peaceful, but now times have changed, theres just too many meth users and they make my ride through my neighborhood a bit sketchy.
Love this video! Winnipeg is really an under-appreciated Canadian city. You have to work a little harder to find things to do, but I really think its a great place.
I grew up in Los Angeles, moved here in 1977 and never looked back.going back to visit only affirms I made the right choice. But you need to come here in January to truly appreciate us. To see how we endure the Winters that are brutal
I'm a Winnipegger. A lot of negative comments in here on the city, but I've traveled Canada, and most of the negative things you can find in any city in Canada. On a more positive note, check out Lower Fort Garry, Festival Du Voyageur, or a Jets game.
Within an hour or so you can find amazing beaches and rock diving! In Winnipeg you can find amazing architecture and history. You saw the museum for Human Rights, which is beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. There is Folklorama which is an amazing cultural adventure you should come back and experience. It is a city with so much to offer. Love your vid, come back and visit for Folklorama. You would be amazed!
You should indeed come back in Winter. River skating is the most amazing thing ...I have a few videos on my channel so that you can see how much people enjoy outdoor winter activities......
I have lived in Winnipeg all my life. The only thing I like about the place is the fact that beautiful lake country is a 1-2 hour drive away from the city.
I'm from Brandon MB and I like to go to Winnipeg for a little getaway. Lots to do and great shopping and Red Lobster 🦞 😋 👌 Some really cool air bnbs also! Going this month and looking forward to it!
Oh how I wish you had more time to explore what the whole province has to offer. Or even what you can find 30-45 minutes away. You can be in the heart of the city, and then in the heart of a beautiful prairie farm, a beautiful cottage on the lake, a stunning campground.... no where else can you get such open country or such prairie skies, or just rural beauty, so close to the city.
I definitely noticed that! We were limited on when we could actually leave the city so this time we were only allowed one day out of the city. But it looks like the province is absolutely stunning in every direction
Grand beach for the sand, Narcisse snake dens. Hecla island on lake, Winnipeg Whiteshell Provincial Park, Spirit Sands at spruce woods provincial park are just some great examples
If you want to see how Winnipeggers really live, get away from the main drags and tourist areas and drive down residential streets. Check out the front yard gardens of Wolseley or the manicured lawns of Tuxedo. Notice the greenspaces, the parks, and all the beautiful shade trees. Winnipeg is a relaxing, beautiful city, and when they get home from work, Winnipeggers know how to enjoy their lives.
Wow. Great video! Rather than criticizing Winnipeg based on stereotypes, I wish that more people made videos like this highlighting what Winnipeg is all about. Yes, it gets damn cold in the winter and yes it gets hot with mosquitos in the summer. But if you actually took the time to explore the lesser-known parts as this guy did, you would quickly come to appreciate what the city has to offer. It's not about the freezing winter, hot summers or crappy roads, it's about the friendly people and vibrant culture. It's so damn annoying when people judge it based on stereotypes. Yes, Winnipeg is far from perfect, but then again, is there any perfect city? Yes Winnipeg has problems and yes it is has some very rough parts. But unless you've lived there or actually spent more than a week there, please be quiet.
No Thanks lmao right. We have been the murder capital for as long as I could remember and this year has been extremely bad. Record breaking in fact. Police are scrambling to even deal with all the violent crimes. A 3 year old was brutally stabbed a week ago. I wouldn’t quite call it friendly.
I used to live in winnipeg, what I love about it is cheap rent and less expense on lifestyle and that makes me afford to go for 6months vacation for almost every year, after Im done with all my contracts here in Vancouver im keeping all my savings in city bonds and live cheap in Winnipeg😉
It's only marginally cheaper than other cities, Calgary is actually cheaper to rent in and buying is only a small amount more, but ultimately it's cheaper because you don't then have to pay to go on holiday to escape the place you live as much as you possibly can.
Hello. New to your channel. Saw your adventures and I was sold! Became your 176th! Subscribed with a bell for your next adventure. Have an amazing day! Keep safe! 👍😊🇨🇦
Wow thanks so much Diana! I really appreciate you subscribing to the channel. And this is just the start I will begin sharing more videos on a weekly basis starting next month.
I live in Winnipeg. The last place on the boat was close to the forks on the Red River. The tall structure with the cables attached to it is part of the Provencher Bridge. You can ride on a water taxi from the Forks and see all those places which are close to downtown. The forks are where the Assiniboine River meets the Red River I am not sure what they charge for the water taxi but I don't think it is expensive
I live in winnipeg and haven't even done a single thing you've done in your short time here lol I'm so embarrassed I gotta go to the museum and zoo for sure now
Lot of good restaurants in Winnipeg. Don't go to museums. They are all rubbish 8th my opinion. Instead go to the Royal Canadian Mint, the Forks or go see the Winnipeg Jets at the MTS Centre.
@@zigzag00 Metro Vancouver has way more people and a lot more infrastructure. I wasn’t just talking about the city of Vancouver, I meant the metro area aswell
Geo Smith was he wrong when he said it was meth filled? Cuz he’s not. People are being murdered at extremely high rates. We are the murder capital of the country and have been for many years. The WPD had to start a “Guns & Gangs” unit due to the increase of firearm violence and organized crime. You can’t walk in the city past dark as you’ll likely be harassed or hurt by druggies or the homeless as our poverty is horrendous. Many of The entrances to downtowns have homeless people tented up. Winnipeg is also know as the most racist city in Canada according to many studies and news sites such as BBC’s Article and much more. (www.google.ca/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/world-us-canada-45215814 ) so saying that Winnipeg is the cultural capital well also being renowned as the most racist city is quite contradictory... Every few days on my way to work or school I see needles on the ground and I don’t even live in what is considered a bad neighborhood. Many local schools have been in trouble too. River east collegiate having 5 lockdowns in 2 weeks due to weapon related violence, St. John’s having a kid stabbed. Or let’s not talk about are broken justices system which gives literal killers less then 10 years in prison. Liquor marts have been hiring off duty police officers to take guard outside their stores as robberies of alcohol commissions have been rampant. Winnipeg is also know for an EXTREME high rate of missing people. Especially Missing Indigenous Women. Organizations have even been started to help find many of these girls and the WPD have even been lending resources such as the Dive unit which looks to recover bodies from the red river. Maybe for tourists it can be a decent place. But to pretend Winnipeg is a great place to live is indisputable. Quit with this patriotism for this damned city and pretending it is this magnificent place. Their was so much problems happening in Winnipeg that a fuckinh “World Star Winnipeg” account was made and gained over 200k followers which literally just showed all the crazy and horrific shit that happens in our city, much of the content was very violent and the account was taken down due to the sensitive nature of the videos. When a city that has a population of 778,000 gains a media following of 200k just to show its atrocities online. You know it’s got a bad reputation.
Geo Smith since you want to talk about the NHL. Winnipeg named as NHL players’ most-dreaded city to visit because ‘it’s just dirty’ www.google.ca/amp/s/globalnews.ca/news/6128674/its-just-dirty-winnipeg-named-as-nhl-players-most-dreaded-city-to-visit/amp/
Geo Smith Also one player said “It’s just dirty - you walk around the city and feel like you need to wash your face after you go outside. So nothing about it is very exciting.” So maybe go tell him about ur rant on how awesome winnipeg is but In reality it’s a chiraq jr
Carter he literally commented this exact paragraph on everyone who shitted on the city. Dude must be some privileged ass man living in a million dollar house cuz everywhere else in this city is terrible. He thinks just because u throw money at something makes it great. You could spend millions of dollars on this city and it won’t change a thing as it’s the people who live here that make our city so shit. Meth heads, rapists and murderers roaming the streets due to our broken justices system. Cases being dropped because their so held up/busy and behind. Can’t believe how he can even defend this city of ours. Like why does he think tourist attractions are what makes a city great to live in? Just because our arena is good and we got the “best public space” doesn’t make Winnipeg a great place to live and raise a family. Smh. Like just search up Winnipeg or any platform and it’s all negative. First result on RU-vid is vices documentary on our gangs. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TlUcsKSbpNI.html
5:56 yes very friendly. Only the murder capital of Canada for many consecutive years. With this year being record breaking 😄 though ur video did make our shitty city look very beautiful, Ur a great cinematographer, so props on that lol. Winnipeg is known by most of Canada to be one of the worst if not the worst city of all in this country. Regina might take the lead on that one though lmao.
Say what you want about Winnipeg, but our greatest strength is our friendly people. Travel to other cities and you'll see. We have an openess that is very extraordinary and unique to Winnipeg.
Kevin Dare yes like being voted the most racist city in all of Winnipeg. Being the murder capital of Canada, terrible poverty and extremely high drug use. Friendly is not the word I’d use to describe us.
Lol, Winnipeg, the most boring city I've ever been to and unfortunately lived in, with the exception of Toledo, Ohio, that's worse. Just as the video actually shows, there are about 3 things to do in the city and if it was any other city in the world those things wouldn't even feature on their "to do list".
@@AllyOfJusticelol, such a smart reply. Go and live in inukvik then or the polar research station, doesn't matter if you like shopping, swimming, hiking, there are no boring places, just boring people.
Things to do in Winnipeg: 1. Stay indoors you might get murdered 2. When indoors, lock your doors, someone might invade your home 3. Leave Winnipeg if you can
The narrator of this video said in the opening moments of this video “ all the benefits of a big city” Which he failed to state such as •A lot of homeless people •lotta drugs with the police going constantly from call to call •career criminals instead of being in jail walk among us to later re-re-offend •the homeless and there are a lot of them are setting up so called “camps” that our mayor Bowman (btw as a practising lawyer before he became Mayor he would charge the majority of his clients $400 per fucken hour) . •The poor homeless people of Winnipeg who live in makeshift camps are having them torn down thanks to Bowman and his cronies who have decided to hire a private company to dismantle these makeshift homes •don’t forget the daily stabbing be it on furby ,Pritchard or outside the skid row Quest Inn and Marlborough Long tern stay hotels • don’t forget the petty theft that plagues this city , theft from your backyard or vehicle is rampant do you want me to continue? Just tell me and I will....
Please don’t. Unless you enjoy meth heads and high murder rates and the official label as the “most racist city” in all of Canada. Not a great place to visit. This guy is a great cinematographer. He made our city look so pleasing tho it truly is not. Also the city is extremely dirty with garbage everywhere and smoggy streets. Just do urself a favour and don’t g 😂 I’d do anything to leave this damn city.
I live in Winnipeg... and a naked Winnipeg man stole an ambulance and crashed it into a building... check out my video it happened HERE! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UOSkjNh91rU.html
If you want a good city to visit in Canada go to Victoria BC where I moved after living in hell Winnipeg. I think after suffering god finally gave me Victoria... have the ocean 10 min drive and mountain view from my balcony and a beautiful lake beside it... great food everything organic.. cheap seafood and great restaurants.. and it doesn't get to -50 in the winter like in Winnipeg lol also I can take ferry to Vancouver and fly to many destinations or take cruises for cheap!!! in Winnipeg if u fly somewhere u gotta really save because flights are expensive as shit... and there are some crappy nature around.. but if u want something high quality .. u gotta drive 13 -15 hours to get somewhere nice like Banff! Or u can also drive to the us and stay in grand forks which is a city just like Winnipeg hahahaha
I live in Vancouver and it's way too expensive for most people. My guess is Victoria is getting more expensive also. Maybe some people would move to Winnipeg for cheap living and the ability to save more money.
