What do you do on hard days?
@Solidgen92
@Solidgen92 Год назад
I mostly check the weather if is warm we will go to the military museum which is super close from Us or we will go to the zoo and just have fun outdoor. But if weather is bad or just cold, we will have a movie day and video game day with My kids. I would cook what they love the most or we would just order a take out and eat it at home.

On hard days, we have a pajama day and read, draw, build Lego, play board games. Sometimes I’ll take them to a museum or the zoo. When it’s been multiple hard days in a row, we just watch a movie and hang out. As a mom, some days I need the break more than they do. 😅 Breaks are needed-the Lord commanded us to rest and praise God He did! 🙌🏻

Yes, it’s hard but I usually think about not having to endure the typical public school “morning rush”. That alone makes it worth it. We’re still on a semi break, hubby & got sick for 3 days. I’m not even worried about it, we’ll pick right back up

Isn't that the truth?!! That carpool line was enough to convince anyone to homeschool! We were all sick recently and took a week off...I told myself if missing one week was going to make a difference, I was already doing it wrong. It puts things in perspective.

Yes it is! I feel that most people put only their best on RU-vid, and not the hard things or the struggles of it. Thank you for you being honest. ❤️

I totally remember the tv being wheeled into our classroom! I think about that all the time when I feel like we need a break! Or all time we spent reading silently while the teacher read a magazine!

Thank you! I am getting ready to start another "year" (our last "year" was like a year and a half) of school. New grades, new curriculum, adding another kid. I have been feeling like giving up. I needed some practical tips and just simple encouragement. I need to remind myself why I started homeschooling in the first place. We have two and half more weeks until we start school back up and I will enjoy every second of it and pray that I am refreshed when we start.

I'm actually doing this today. My daughter is watching "Earthstorm" on Netflix and she is writing facts about what she learned about "Tornadoes " so it's a break from book work and she is having FUN doing it. Homeschool is hard but the reward at the end of the day is very rewarding!! Keep up the great work everyone!!!

Oh my gosh, thank you. I was on the struggle bus today. My favorite part was when you went into all all the "don't worry abouts" at the end. Literally. Every. Single. One. Those were all my worries. Please make more videos like this in the future because it will feel like checking in. I was tearing up after watching your video because someone understood. I have only one other friend that does homeschool but she unschools so our curriculums are completely different. Family and friends told me not to do it in the beginning. It would be too hard but they see the difference in my kids now so you are right, it is so worth it! Stay the course!

Yeeeesssss! Homeschool have some hard days! If we have a hard week, the next week will be light. This is the week before Thanksgiving and our days are going to be light! We are just doing two subjects the rest of this week. However, I will NOT change homeschooling because my child is in a better place. We are much happier. We will be off from homeschooling next week. Happy Thanksgiving and happy homeschooling!

When I was in fourth grade, way back in the early 70's, our teacher, Mr. Dowery, would come to school hungover (I think) sometimes, and he would let us have indoor recess all day. We'd play jacks, checkers, play music on a record player, whatever we wanted. Trouble is, he came in hung over one too many times and got in trouble with the principal, so that was the end of our "unschooling."

Thank you so much for making this video 🤗 This is my 9th year of homeschooling our 3 children and it took me a solid 7 years before I finally starting admitting that homeschooling is HARD and it is WORK. You hit the nail on the head when speaking of our passion for homeschooling and desire to encourage/influence others whose children are schooled at home. So many times I have sung the praises of homeschooling; focusing on all the benefits and advantages yet leaving out the part about challenging days. THANK YOU for validating what has taken me so long to admit to myself: homeschool is hard. But, just like you I'll take the lumps because the benefits are so worth all the hard work and the challenging days.

I needed this today! The reading program I chose hasn't been working and my daughter and I just keep getting frustrated! This is the start of our homeschool journey so I don't want it to be miserable off the bat. Chose a different curriculum that I think will work better for us and hopefully, we can mesh better

I always find it helpful during harder weeks to remember that 1) there will be a week coming up that I will LOVE - I love teaching, engaging, spending time with my kids, all of it. That doesn't erase hard days, but it helps if I can remember the harder stretch won't last forever, and I'll soon have an enjoyable stretch when I feel reinvigorated. And 2) there is good growth and character-shaping happening in my heart as I choose to remain faithful to my commitments even when I don't 100% feel like it (with needed, kind-to-oneself modifications of course!)

On our hardest days when I'm feeling sick, but well enough, we do school in my bedroom. We do our family subjects together and then the kids do their individual classes later on their own. We might just read and/or watch videos some days. There are times we take the day off and make it up later. We school year round, so I have flexibility built-in to our schedule. I do fight feeling guilty. Then I remind myself that I'm far better on my worst days than what they were getting in public school! These years of us being together are priceless.

I had had a hard year, my daughter we think had what they called long covid and the drs couldn't figure out. It threw our "schedule" out the window so this year we have a lot to make up, sometimes every day feels like a battle, but with prayer i keep on going. And yes ps teachers do take brakes, few of my teachers will put on the tv at least 3 time a week, lol.

We've had a whole sick week and It knocked us off course so it's been tough to get back. While we try to get back in the grove, it's just been 1 math page and practice reading. I feel like if all else fails, at least those two things have been covered! Game schooling and Magic School Bus show is also great! 😂

I needed this today! I said “some days I wonder if it’s worth it” to my husband today. We are in our 5th year and for some reason, this year has just been disjointed. Lots of sickness. Husband had a huge job schedule change right after I signed kids up for activities so now I’m solo managing all of that. Blah. I’m just feeling tired. But this was so helpful! I’m also going to read Teaching From Rest again over thanksgiving break!

We pushed back our start time to 10 AM, from 8 AM (basically because my oldest was finishing her first few subjects in an hour (Bible, handwriting, writing, & LA). It had made a huge difference in stress levels, because we all have some time in the morning to putter around doing are own things.

For our hard days we watch learning videos, I assign art projects, music practice, independent work (i e. a math page or a reading comprehension page), reading, and in the past, online programs. If she's the one that is sick, I may just let her be. In public school, she would not attend class anyways.

If you think that homeschooling in America is hard: here in Poland government does things to make homeschooling even harder. After each schoolyear all homeschooled kids have to pass end-of-the-year exam from every subject except arts, sports etc. If they don't pass, they have to repeat the schoolyear AT SCHOOL.
