Thank you for the useful information, and for taking time to answer the question of silverplate’s value and disposal options :)

That's pretty good info thanks. I wanted to know what the market was and it seems dead. I been going to thrift stores lately to check on the silverware. Today I found 2 solid sterling cocktail forks! I almost had a stroke when I found them(I haven't been doing this long, ~2month)! I been just grabbing anything silverplate that looked good to me. At $0.29 its worth the gamble. I found if its labeled IS or inlaid silver, you can make money off it. Even if its not popular because the silver value. I got about 2.5 grams off of a holmes and edwards IS fork. I used nitric acid to dissolve and refine off the silver. I want to figure out if other old well made silver plated flatware would be worth it to refine the silver, if it has more than $0.29 worth of silver, its worth getting. My thought is, really old normal silver plate may be thicker, just BC silver was cheaper back then, they had less sophisticated equipment for plating, and may have plated on more than would be today. What do you think? I realize the plating only needs to be a few atoms thick, and a large object could be completely covered in silver and there hardly be any there. I also found a set of 8 teaspoons stamped pat.AUG31.20 with an (anchor) Rogers (anchor XII). I been trying to figure how old it it is. Maybe 1920? I know thats the patent date so it could have been made much later. Either way, even if I don't make money, I'll have nice silverware to serve guests! Looks much better than cheapo stuff from walmart!
