What to do With Rabbits in a Tornado?

Do you have a flashlight and emergency kit in your basement? Pet food, water, treats and supplies and a dog bed for Luca and snacks for you. Comfy chair to longe in. That was a good practice drill. 💛👼☀️🙏🏼

Glad to hear you are okay, Last month I had a tornado warning so my human put me inside a hard sided carrier with hay and brought me to the basement and we waited a hour luckily nothing bad happened to us. I also recommend bringing some water into the basement as well for the pets and humans.

Glad you are ok. Fix a backpack with things like food for you and pets, some bottles of water, flashlight, extra batteries, first aid kit, extra leash. One of those collapsible bowls (for the animals water). A blanket. Then all you have to worry about is grabbing your backpack, getting yourself and animals to the basement. I also have a complete change of clothes including shoes in mine. You never know. Time is very precious in an emergency ❤️

I highly recomend learning about how tornados form and reading the radar , it helps overcome fears and how far the storm is. Theres Radar Sofware than can help giving more safety

I use to have a massive fear of them too when I was a kid. Would scream and cry and hide underneath the stairs. Eventually became interested in them, read about them and studied them, now I’m fascinated by them. But I still have that get ready mode at the back of my head.

I used to have nightmares about tornadoes but I've never lived in an area that had tornadoes. I guess it's just an innate fear.

Stirling was like: Excuse me! I wasn't noticeably shedding till my gf got stress bored and humped my coat silly... I feel violated, I need a bath!

If anyone wants to know some information on what to do with your bunnies darning a Hurricane ill write some tips here, If a hurricane is coming and you plan to evacuate you will need a evacuation kit which includes food, water, rabbit first aid kit, carrier, a contact information tag should also be on the carrier in case if you were to get separated while evacuating, and if can bring a playpen and litter box for the place you will be staying at. Its also a good idea to search up emergency vets near the location you are staying at in case if your bunny were to go into GI stasis which might happen if your bunny get very stressed from traveling. if a hurricane is coming and you Do not plan to evacuate make sure your bunnies are located indoors on a Higher level of the house if you can and away from windows, make sure you have enough Hay water and food for at least 2 weeks, do not forget medication if needed and first aid.Make sure you have enough food and water for your self as well and board up the windows if you can.

In our city, we didn't have a tornado since June, but it was horrible. A guy got struck and died, and a roof of a school literally flew away from the school or something

I was not expecting a real tornado I was worried your bunnies got in a scuffle lol

And also, if a tornado warning showed up on the weather thingy, I would take some food for my dog and for myself

Glad you are all safe. Sorry, you were scared. :( I don't have pets at this time, but I live in a place prone to wildfires and that does get earthquakes, so I am really scared of those things. It's okay to be scared. But I'm glad y'all are safe. :)

We've had some tornado warnings recently lately too. I rent a manufactured home so the first time we had to pack up my rabbit and 2 cats and basically tried to drive the opposite direction of where the storm was headed. It was pretty stressful and scary but no tornados ended up hitting. Had another warning a few weeks after and I couldn't leave the house so I had to sit in the bathtub with my pets and hope for the best. Thankfully it missed us then too. If a tornado hit my house it would for sure lift the whole thing. Hopefully once our lease is up in a year we can afford to buy a house with a basement so I don't have to worry as much!

It's terrible cause I'm in nj and we got a tornado warning last week so everyone went into the basement but then the flooding got so bad that many people drowned in their basements. I don't have a basement so me and my rabbit hung out in the bathtub.

You know a Warning means that one has been sighted, but as you said it was in a different part of the county. Watch is when the conditions are right,and there could potentially be one. Better safe than sorry. They can suddenly come out of no where, and be on top of you.

I would not waste my time getting rabbits. Last time I had a tornado I got my dogs mostly Because they come when called and wanted to get my 18 year old cats but the wind was too scary I went in to hiding in the most interior closest of the house and didn’t come out till the sound of the wind died down. Lucky the funnel that passed over did not actually touch down and we only lost a few shingles. When I left the closet the cats were sitting on the sofa like nothing had happened. I did not have rabbits yet but if I could not risk my life for my cats I had 18 years I won’t even consider it for a rabbit.
