Thanks for the info! I’ve been with TSA since 1/1/23 and I’m going to FLETC very shortly. I ve been watching your channel since I started my journey into TSA (step 1 till now) and your videos have help me each step of the way! Just want to say thank!!
@user-xd5bb6en3w right now the average total time it taking is 1 year from CBT to final hire date. How fast things get processed depends on how busy the medical facilities are and how fast your HR can process the paperwork.
@@theTSAguy okay guys I initially put in my application back in May of this year I think and I did all the process and stuff. I did have to resubmit my e86 so I’m thinking that’s what could be taking longer but idk
Thankfully, my local Airport had just started using TSA for its flights. So that made my process go pretty fast. It took less than 3 months from start to finish, and the steps didn't go in order.
This was a very helpful video Fazle! I liked how you spoke about your experiences and also gave recommendations. The little gif videos are also hilarious lol. Going to rewatch this when I go to FLETC!
I just went Jan 29th - Feb 11th. It was hot pretty much every day but there were a few chilly mornings. The uniform shirt is dark blue now not light blue. I believe another agency is light blue. Buy water from Walmart or the store on campus bc the water sucks. They provide a water bottle. Your badge is good to be scanned for 3 meals a day. Quiet time is at 10pm and curfew is at midnight meaning be in YOUR room. The bar SUCKS 😂 they only have beer or canned sangria type drinks. Those buses to Savannah or Tybee Island are non existent 😂.. they only do Walmart and Target runs either once or twice a week..head to the store at 6pm and the bus picks you back up at 8pm. They don't shuttle you around the campus and they DONT reimburse for food the first night even tho you'll get there after the chow hall is closed for the night. We struggled to get an uber the first night to take us ANYWHERE bc we were starved. So eat at the airport BEFORE you exit at Jacksonville. Or grab a snack. Once you exit, you don't have access to restaurants. Waffle house is nearby but they won't reimburse for that uber ride or the meal. Unfortunately Enterprise has raggedy and dirty cars. The ones at the Brunswick airport were clean but limited availability. Yes, I rented from both 😅. You will have to walk from your dorm to the front gate to get picked up by uber or receive food. No one is allowed on campus without a badge.
I see COVID eliminated the bus rides out of town. We had them when I was there. I had fun at the campus bar, I only stuck to beers, not into the fancy drinks. Thanks for the updates!
@The TSA Guy Did the bus take ppl only on specific days or every day? Either way having that available sounds great. Our driver who took us to check in for our badges made it very clear to us. He said he and none of the other drivers are our chauffeur and they will NOT be giving any rides 😵💫😅
@nataliahenderson5312 Bus took people on holidays, sat/sun only. I'm not surprised the bus drivers were that rude. They only get that blatant if people have tried to abuse the system in the past. I got yelled at by the bus driver bus one morning when we were being picked up at the hotel. I was always the last person running to the bus and wasn't wearing shoes. In the bus driver's defense I woke up 10 mins before the bus left, and I only had enough time to put my shirt and pants on. So....yea, I wasn't really the best example 🤣 Now you know why I drove on my own. After the 3rd day I just started driving myself to campus. I don’t like being reliant. If I lived in Cali…I wouldn’t drive.
@nathalieanderson5312 thanks for updating on your stay. I’m still in the hiring process I just finish submitting my e/QIP and waiting to schedule medical. How long after this did your process took?
Thanks for the info. This is the video I needed. Just got out of many years in the Army as a Cav Scout and ADA, and just got offered a job for an agency, so I of course have to go to FLETC. I went to OSUT in the summer at Ft. Benning, GA so I am hoping I have don't end up there again in the middle of the summer.
Great video. I just dropped an application today. I have been out of the Navy for two years. Hope something happens. I think ill watch some more of your videos.
Just trying to add to your video Fazle. There's so much that no one told us! Mainly that shuttle. We thought we could get to Walmart any time on any day we wanted. Wrong!
All good, I appreciate the feedback because I got my TSA info from someone who went in 2021 and I combined it with my experience from USCIS and from talking to the TSA people there. It’s total night/day when you look at how each agency accommodates their people. Getting around FLETC seemed miserable when I was there in 2019. I drove and had a hotel on St.Simmons, I got to skip a lot of those headaches 😂
Hey so i am currently in the progress and i don’t seems to find many answer to my questions is this like police Academy? Or basic training? What about this physical test? Oh lord I’m sorry with all my questions but is 20 weeks or 13 weeks
Nothing like basic training or police academy. This is going to be more like summer school. No physical tests. Training will be about 10 weeks, 2 weeks at FLETC.
Be carful with that government credit card. My company ( military sealift command) will use it to pay for my plane tickets and then let it go into corrections in my name . Which will eventually ruin your credit. Hopefully it’s different with tsa thats one reason why im trying to which over ! I have my AA Wednesday im so nervous
My current agency will hunt you down to get the bills paid. Our travel office has gotten a lot better at processing our vouchers especially since they took over the entire process.
Hey, one thing I’m curious about I’m going to the same facility in Glencoe Georgia, but mine is for correctional officer training is it pretty much the same just as what you described in this video?
Life in general for you will be the same. The day-to-day details for you will be different. Every agency runs their day-to-day operations differently. I don’t know if you’ll have to wear the FLETC daily work/training uniform but everyone has to wear the gym uniform.
Also what personal items are restricted to bring to your dorm or on campus in general? I’m assuming they check bags and things like that. I’m so excited to go
Your home airport will fill you in on what you can or can’t take. The usual travel items like clothes, meds, toiletries… Leave the weapons at home. For anything else…a good rule of thumb is, if you have to ask then the answer is “no”
@@theTSAguy I’m driving there. I’m referring to on base at the training facility. The only thing I would have that’s questionable is my vape and I’m an adult I’m pretty sure I’m allowed to vape on my free time? I know several officers that do
In fact I believe my friend that went there for his training said he was able to have his vape in his dorm and didn’t have any issues but I don’t drink. I don’t smoke I don’t do anything besides just vaping nicotine and that’s better than cigarettes in my opinion. And on the FLETC website it says you can smoke outwide so i don’t see why they would care if it’s a vape or a cigarette so I would think I’ll be fine
Yea on federal property nicotine/tobacco products are fine. As far what you can or can’t do in your room will be in the FLETC packet If it’s legal then you’re good to go. I was housed off campus so for me the rules were different.
@@theTSAguy yeah I figured it would be fine I mean it’s literally all I do is vape nicotine that’s it so if I couldn’t have it there at least in my room for when the day ends and step outside to have a few drags would be pretty devastating to me because it helps me alot Anyways thanks so much. I’m very excited/nervous to go but you helped a lot just knowing a general idea of what to expect
Hello 👋🏾, idk if you’re still on here lol , I’m gonna be goin to fletc in March 2024 for cbpo, do u know the grooming standards? Complete shave or can we keep our beards ? And also wat about hairstyle?
@@brandonmedina784 How long did it take to receive your medical evaluation results? I applied for the Miami airport and my medical appointment was 2 days ago.
@@fernandopacheco2648 hey, so I received the notification for passing the drug test 3 days after the test. I’ve yet to receive the The fitness and medical confirmation but all went well while I was taking it. Wishing you well throughout the process brother.
Hello Fazle, Can you please answer my questions down below? I am interested in working as a federal air marshal. I have applied to be one last week on the 10th. I applied to be a TSO as well. I am scheduled to take the test on the 24th of this month. My first question to you is, in your opinion, is it worth being a TSO worker? In terms of pay, work life balance, and working with people around you as well as the travelers? I know you talked about some of this, but I want to know a little more in-depth. My second question to you is, the reason I asked you the first question is because mentioning earlier, I said I want to become a Federal Air Marshal. And I want to know if I have a better chance of becoming one starting off as a TSO worker rather than what I did and applied automatically? Thanks
@@theTSAguy What about a Monday holiday in the second week? Also can you leave Saturday and come back Sunday? or do you have to be in the dorm every night? I have family in the area.
If you join the Facebook group you can ask the specifics there. I went to FLETC for USCIS and we didn’t have any restrictions. Any weekday that a holiday falls on will just extend the course, that’s how USCIS does it. TSA might be different.
I just passed my medical on Monday the 29th after I started the process on Jan 6th. I'm hoping to hear soon. How often do they do trainings and how often do they pay?
@@theTSAguy gotcha. My airport had a hiring event that streamlined everything into 2-4 hours so I’m just waiting for that after medical call. They doubled the lanes form 5 to 10 so they’re needing a ton of people and I’m hoping for full time
Two questions: Do they pay for your motel room or rental apartment if you don’t want to stay in the dorms? Do they have specific height and weight requirements? Do we see tall/big Alfa males? I’m short and tiny guy and I don’t have confidence to be around such men.
1. No, unless you can justify why you should get one over the other. 2. No 3. If you don’t have confidence to work with everyone, how do you expect to have confidence to tell the traveling public what to do during security screening? I worked with a lady who was 4’5” and barely spoke English, she did just fine.
Went to a TSA hiring event today in my town. Passed the testing, offered the interview and accepted the prospective employment. Fingerprints and picture done today as well. Next I wait for the email for a background check as well as medical. Fingers crossed 😊
if you let the admin know then they will let you take time to pray. But it won’t be an entire Juma service. You’ll get maybe 10-20 mins then you go back to class.
I think the current air marshal posting is still open. Search “federal air marshal” in the usajobs search bar. You don’t need to join the TSA to improve your chances, but it will make completing your paperwork a lot easier and you’ll get a lot insight to the federal hiring process by learning from others.
Is fletc the same amount of time regardless of what agency you’re going under? I applied to a federal prison job and was told it was 3 weeks but all I’ve seen on google is 13 weeks
Hey brother, how are you.. I got denied medical based on vision and diabetic even having documentation and doctor didn't bother to look at them and seeing me wearing glasses still been asked to take my glasses off to do the vision test, what's your input on this issue, thanks another for the videos
You should be getting an appeal packet in the mail soon. Have your private doctor check complete turn paperwork asap and send it back in using the mailing envelope provided.
I’m not sure what the purple, red, and blue thing is lol. You’re treated liked adults, but you’ll be required to follow the FLETC campus rules just like everyone else.
@@theTSAguy sounds good! Just scheduled my medical and fingerprinting appointments yesterday. How many months do you think I have until I start orientation?
