My plan is to retire around April time. Two reasons, a new tax year starts making it easier to plan my retirement income and, more importantly, the start of Spring/Summer. Long bright days just seems like a much better time to start a retirement than short, dark cold days of Winter.

My hubby was doing high physical work, he was 64 when i insisted he retire. Had a small inheritance from my dad so it was possible. Just buried him yesterday, im glad he retired when he did, we had some quality time together.

Hello from Texas! I'm glad the algorithm led me to your channel - subscribed. I'm going to retire 6 months from now at age 53. With this and other videos, you've raised some excellent and timely (for me) points to consider. Thanks.

Interesting video, lots of valid points. Just completed my first year of retirement & had a Monday to Friday plan so I wouldn’t fall into those pitfalls that some do, it worked for me! Looking forward to year two & the fun that lies ahead 44… that’s impressive!

Thanks for your thoughts, I'm 61 y/o & intend to retire next year. I'm an introvert so have few social friends. I am aware of risk of lack of social contact when I stop work but being an introvert, it doesn't bother me that much. I have always loved travel so this should give me the opportunity to meet others. You mention purpose, having a reason to get out of bed in the morning is very important, whatever that may be. This vlog is very pertinent subject to me.

I have just retired aged 61 at quite short notice and find your videos very helpful. I run a small Right to Manage Company / Residents Group where I live which gives me a strong sense of purpose plus I have a small Ebay shop and other hobbies plus my adult son is currently living with me.Nevertheless I have noticed quite a lull and lack of social contact as you say in the video .But I am also enjoying the winding down process after 45 years in work since the age of 16 .

I've just retired. Financially independent, 54 y.o., sitting in a hotel room alone in Thailand. And yes, I'm in that dark place. This is timely advice.
