For the 80th anniversary i think it would be cool if they: 1: Showed the original perspex Thomas model, at least temporarily 2: A DVD release of the entire show (1-24) in high quality 3: The 1983 pilot revealed 4: RWS/Classic series merch
I definitely dig the idea of Plarail releasing their version of the Pilot Thomas and/or Awdry's original Thomas model. I made a custom of it before, but I am DYING to have an official one, that is if Plarail starts being peak again.
To be fair tho about Marc Forster, he made Christopher Robin which is probably one of the best live action disney films ever. It just nails a great British tone movie and i definitely think Marc is gonna put a lot of focus on that.

They would still roll of course, just not by motors. Sorry to burst your bubble, but they would never bring the original seires back. First off, they would need to get all of the original CGI voice cast back, a new animation company, the CGI models back, and in general, that would be pretty expensive.
One of my predictions is that we might get more announcements for brand-new Wooden Railway toys in 2025, which I’m hoping will happen by then because we haven’t gotten any new items released since the last two DOWT engines.
Adding to prediction #7, I would love a 4CD classic era album where S3-5 is disc 1, S6-7 is disc 2, S3-5 instrumentals is disc 3 and S6-7 instrumentals is disc 4 with all the songs being remastered and sourced directly from Mike himself as he has all of the final high quality masters for the songs and their instrumentals.
These are great predictions for the 80th anniversary, my predictions for the anniversary is that they might make some clear/metallic/diamond diecast push along engines/Wooden Railway engines/Trackmaster/Plarail engines
The Railway Series Collection from book 1 to book 42 sounds like a traintastic idea!!!! Not only we'll have Wilbert's books but Wilbert and Christopher's books at the same time. I can't wait for that!!!!
Well with the 40th anniversary coming, I want Mattel to finally release the Pilot for down the mine, because I'm sure everyone is tired of waiting for the pilot to be released, but I doubt it.
Well *apparently* the reason Takara TOMY has been so quiet with their Plarail Thomas lineup for 2024, and most of 2023, is because *allegedly* they're frying up an 80th-anniversary lineup of high-end exclusive releases. There is no solid confirmation of this, but hold onto hope!
All these predictions are quite accurate, but for the Marc Forster film - it won’t be released directly in 2025 for the 80th anniversary. I personally Mattel will officially give an update on the upcoming movie with its official title, plot and cast with either a 2026 or 2027 release date.

@@SudrianShunter Yeah, honestly, I agree. Plus, he acted pretty quick about it too which is rather impressive. I still don’t think seeing early drafts would be that monumental though, as his creative process involved pumping out a page of 200 word vomit and mastering it more and more. We only need one draft of a story and we’ll know a lot, in my opinion.

AEG special, RWS collection, and maybe one or two ranges pushes out a metallic Thomas toy. I don't see much else that come out, I'm not even sure the pilot is gonna come out, it was only mentioned once years ago and Ian McCue isn't exactly the most truthful person. What I wouldn't give for a complete series DVD set though...

For the Complete Series 1-24, I almost didn't think DVDs in 2025 are relevant. Nowadays, It's all about Blu-rays and Streaming. Bluey Season 1-3 Physical Copy is an example. For Thomas, they need to rescan all the Non-Digital Film Masters, accurately edit together, and use the existing upscale episodes for explicit permission from Connor's Team or the Unlikely Fandom.
All of them I THINK WILL happen with 2 extra ones, & they are: Number 1. Carty & Co FINLLY release An Unlikely Fandom BOTH Physically & Digitally TO THE PUBLIC WORLDWIDE! & Number 2:...THE OLD SHOW RETURNS & AEG WOULD FOREVER BE PERMANATLY PULLED OFF THE AIR EVERYWHERE & THEREFORE PERMANATLY CANCELLED & THE FRANCHISE PERMANATLY RETURNS TO THE UK! I mostly have hopes for stuff like a complete series boxset, with select amount of rereleased ERTL toys to go alongside it. I want to say, the Thomas and Friends Movie is in fact coming. Mattel Films is currently working on Masters of the Universe (June 5th release date for 2026), and movies take a long time to produce, The Barbie movie was in production for fourteen years, the mentioned Minecraft movie took around eleven. Thomas’ movie is only on the backburner, as it’s one of the Mattel Films movies with less information known about it, but it will release eventually. The Barbie Movie has set the standard of Mattel Films, so it gives a rough idea of how the Thomas movie may feel.

I predict we might get news about the Thomas movie, but it could have someone else attached to direct. I feel like after the success of the Barbie movie last summer Mattel wants to start making more movies based on their IP. Right now from what I’ve seen online they’re working on a Matchbox movie starring John Cena so they’ll most likely make it eventually. It’s only a matter of time and if Marc Forster’s still attached by time we hear anything new about it. I can see him possibly dropping out or getting replaced with someone else by the studio.
I just hope that whatever they do for the anniversary, it’s respectful to what Thomas is and why people love it and that it makes fans happy. It’s wishful thinking, but I hope it happens.

I honestly have mixed feelings about the Marc Forster movie as at the time of me writing this, we know little to nothing about. So, the movie could end up getting cancelled, turn out to be a grand success, or a complete failure that could kill the franchise altogether.
If they come out with us complete series dvds, they should include the name board sequences for 1-7 in my opinion, along with steam effects for 8 and onward.
