Grace is doing great! If you were to see her tonight you'd have no idea she was spayed yesterday (when I take the pillow off her nick :-) She is her happy self and that brings me so much joy! THANK YOU Amy for watching!

I miss my dogs more than they miss me when I have to leave them, too! Grace is so sweet and calm. I hope her recovery goes quickly. Toffee looks so tiny compared to the other puppies, especially with his haircut.

Yes! Grace is super chill and she is so happy to be home (but I am happier than she is!!) Yes! Toffee is adorable in his schnauzer cut. I've been debating doing the other boy (the cream brother) in a schnauzer cut. What do you think?

@@svccschnauzers I love the teddy bear trim but I do think the traditional schnauzer trim is adorable. I would be tempted to trim the other boy, too. They're so cute, you can't go wrong either way.

What has been your experience with your adult dogs concerning teeth problems. 2 of my 3 mini’s have had to have most of their teeth pulled by the time they were 8 years old. Thank you for sharing.

What is the best age to spay a female miniature schnauzer ? getting a lot of conflicting information

After the first heat cycle sometime between 9 - 12 months is what I suggest. What does your vet say?

@@svccschnauzers The vet says about 12 months or so, a few months after the first heat cycle but I’ve asked other vet’s that I’ve met in the course of work (building maintenance) and two told me that there should be at least 2 heat cycles because it can have very serious repercussions if the dog isn’t fully mature and one vet said 2 years old minimum so it’s a bit confusing, apparently it can be different ages for different breeds too, by the way thank you very much for taking the time to reply to me I’m sure you’re very busy and it’s much appreciated

@@alunthomas2698 Great point you are highlighting!! I breed small dogs. They are mature much quicker than the very large dogs. Some very large breeds do take 2 years to mature. So important to know the common growth patterns in your breed and work with your vet. In general I would still say after the first heat cycle because then you know their hormones have developed sexually. In my puppy agreements I say they need to be neutered or spayed by 1 year old - again I am breeding toy and mini sized dogs. THANK YOU for this question!

So what age is too old for a female dog to get spaded?

I so dislike those plastic cones the vets give the dogs. If or when I have to have another dog spayed, I would use the donut collar or the surgical suit. Surprisingly I recently had a cat spayed and they do not need any type of collar since they don't bother the incision.

Yes! Grace does not need the donut collar much - she sits next to me or is with me just about all the time so I don't have to put it on her. Thank you OrganicGal for watching!
