What to Expect When You Miscarry: What Happens During a Natural Miscarriage? 

I never knew that losing a baby can be this hurtful 🥺🥺😭💔 it is something we as women will never forget, be carrying our little angel in our heart everyday!

Labor breathing helped me a lot. I didn’t take pills or anything because I was too much focused on my breathing instead. It was a constant pain for me that lasted 2 hours. I ended up falling asleep to my breathing while in pain. Yes, it felt like labor pains. Now Im 16 weeks pregnant with my rainbow. 🌈✨

I miscarried yesterday at home in the same exact way. I have a lot of guilt for flushing the toilet. I kind of knew what it was but I didn’t. My partner and I looked at it. I wish we did give it some form of a burial. When I went to the ER the ultrasound showed there was nothing left in my uterus so that just confirmed what we saw was the remains. This was our first pregnancy and whereas I’m grateful I didn’t experience much physical pain this is still so painful. Prayers to all of us and our partners. They are hurting just as much because in a way we got more time with our babies. Sending my love and receptive of of yours ❤❤❤

Currently going through my 2nd miscarriage at 7 weeks. The first one was a “chemical” right after I found out I was pregnant. This one is different, we had time to tell family, time to enjoy being pregnant (as I found out early around 3.5 weeks) I was spotting for around a week and got blood work that didn’t look good, started bleeding and several clots more bloodwork that day revealed start of miscarriage at 7w2days. Praying this is over soon as I believe I passed a large amount of tissue a few hours ago. One day I will have my rainbow baby. As of right now we have two beautiful babies in heaven.

Going through one right now....this is day 2... I found myself starring at the wall on the toilet...after crying my eyes out I felt numb...today idk how I feel

Experienced a miscarriage four days ago. Had no idea what to expect and whether it was a miscarriage, so I went to ER to have it checked out. At ER I felt an urgent need to go to the bathroom, and suddenly big pieces of what seems like liver just came out of me..as if it dropped out. At this moment I knew. This carried on for 8 hours of which the cramps got worse and closer together (as with contractions assumedly). I started feeling dizzy due to blood loss and had extreme pain before they took me to theatre. As with you Sophie, I felt numb afterwards. Thereafter, I could not stop crying and allowing myself to grieve. At the age of 45, this would have been our first baba. Hoping it is not too late. Wished I had seen your vid prior, thanks Sophie. x

I just had my first miscarriage at just 17 years old. I’ve never felt so alone. After I accepted I was going to be a young mom I was so happy.

Thank you so much for this video. We learned this morning that our baby’s heart beat has slowed to a nonviable rate at 7 weeks and miscarriage is imminent. We go back on Tuesday for a follow up ultrasound but they don’t anticipate finding a heartbeat by then. They’ll likely have us wait to miscarry naturally at home and will talk options for a D&C if things don’t progress on their own. I’m terrified for the inevitable and the grief is unbearable. Thanks for your sharing. Mine first one just passed out this morning. It was an extremely painful experience. I decided to let it pass naturaly because I don't like surgery or any unnatural way to deal with my body. I saw some ppl had better passing experience with much less pain. Lucky them. Mine was totally the opposite. I was calling God the whole time cause it's unbearable. But after a few hours heavy bleeding and cramping, it finally came out. Now I took my day off and lying on the bed. I decided to lying on bed for three days. It's tough. And it definitely can be a life-death situation if you are not strong or healthy enough. Pls we need to learn to take care ourselves.

Hi. I’m watching your video right now as I’m in the bath tub crying my eyes out. I just passed my gestational sac around 3PM and the bleeding calmed down a few hours later. I don’t know how I feel and this is my first miscarriage. I have a 6 year old who is healthy and I am so grateful for. But this is just hurting me so badly and I feel so alone. I don’t think anyone around me really understands how I have been truly feeling. My body feels broken and I feel so sad over it. I get told to just appreciate the child I have, I get told that it was too early to be a real child, that it’s only 6 weeks. I’m trying to push it in my own head that science is science and maybe this was a good thing it happened, but nothing in my mind can justify it and I don’t want to. This is my 1st pregnancy and 1st loss at 6wks. I really don’t know or just feel anything. I’ve suffered so much loss I just feel numb to it. It still hurts but I try not to think about it too much, if I do I try to think of something positive about the situational although it’s not much but it helps a little. Everyone wants me to grieve but I’m so tired of grieving I just want to go through it pray about it, if I decide to do something about it I’ll do it and then move forward and hopefully try again with success. Eventually I’ll try again I’m optimistic about it. Miscarriage is a difficult topic and everyone’s experience is different but I do love that in all we can almost talk to each other and support each other. I hope not to offend anybody at all. I wish the best for all of you. I pray for your strength, healthy recovery, and more. ❤️

I found out at my first OB appointment today that there was no heartbeat after having seen a heartbeat via my initial ultrasound 2.5wks ago. I've been feeling lower back pain for the past few days....I had no idea I was having a missed miscarriage.

This is my first pregnancy, I’m 6 weeks and I’ve been bleeding for 4 days. On the third day the bleeding and heavy clotting happened and that’s when I went to the hospital and they said I was having a miscarriage. It’s crazy how you mentioned that not taking medication to feel the connection because that’s what ive been doing and my bf didn’t understand me when I said I wanted to feel the pain. Thank you for sharing your story, it gives me hope for the future. I have had 5 miscarriages in total, my first ever pregnancy ended in loss, then I had my rainbow baby boy. I had my second miscarriage, then another Rainbow baby boy. And now in the last three months, i have had 3 miscarriages or "chemical pregnancy" as it is commonly known as, back to back, and I am beside myself and feel quite desperate and hopeless at the moment. But your story gives me hope, and I was unaware that I can receive referrals here in the UK after 3 or more losses. The doctor I spoke with today simple told me "it's one of those things and it happens to lots of women, and just to take another pregnancy test in a week or two to make sure I have definitely lost the pregnancy" I just sobbed my heart out after that phone call, a little compassion would have made all the difference. I am truly blessed to have my two beautiful boys and never want to seem ungrateful, but it still hurts none the less doesn't it ladies?

Thanks so much for this video it is really helpful. I am currently waiting for my natural miscarriage to happen and the not knowing when is so hard. But hearing from you what I might be going through soon is scary but also relieving. I am scared though I would not see the difference between the cloths and the little embryo because I might want to save it to give it a proper goodbye. And I cried the first day all day but after that I've noticed that I have a need to stare into space and I'm going through the pain with no meds bc I don't want to not feel the pain. It hurts so much to loose a baby that tou didn't get to meet and you were so happy waiting for that day to carry them. I am not mad or angry because I know GOD has his plans and everything happens for a reason and we will wait with open arms on our rainbow🌈 baby!

This is the .most. supportive and informational video I have seen on miscarriage. I am currently in the middle of my own and find myself wondering why the hell my midwife didn't tell me any of this. They offered me a pill or the d&c, but I opted to wait to see if I would pass naturally instead. I have googled over and over again to find this kind of information and just happened upon this video. Thank you SO much for your honesty and sincerity in explaining the process and all the details. I am, honestly, terrified of the coming pain, but having some kind of idea is better than what my midwife left me with. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I’m going back in a week and half for another ultrasound to be sure. I’m still in shock and the doctor just sent me home without explaining what to expect. I’m currently just resting but had no idea what aI would go through. You explained everything. I’m still hopeful that maybe my pregnancy wasn’t so far along to hear a heartbeat but I’m torn since the doctor said she was almost sure it was a miscarriage.

I am going through a miscarriage right now at 5 weeks. Bleeding a lot with clots, and intense cramps. This video described it very well! I am sad and just taking this week out for myself. A lot of my friends and family wanna hang out this week and I just can’t and I almost feel like they don’t understand. It’s really hard to explain what it is to go through it it makes you feel so alone no matter how many people you talk to you about it, you know that you are dealing with this alone with your body.

This video was helpful. I miscarried for the first time yesterday and I am currently still going through the bleeding. I had no idea what to expect. My doctor’s staff sort of explained it but they kind of sugar coated it and I needed more detail. I wish I would’ve found this video before the passing yesterday but when it happened I was very clear about what was going on. I’m still cramping and I’m on my last day of pain meds prescribed by the emergency room staff. I’m pretty positive that I passed the entire sack so there shouldn’t be much left to pass if anything. However, the pain is still worse than my normal cramps. I’ll try alternating the meds you suggested to see if it helps. Not sure who is still waiting for the passing but warm baths helped me in between pain pills. I soaked in a warm bath and immediately after, I sat on the toilet, felt some light pressure and heavy bleeding, then it passed. I definitely waited before flushing. Some may think it’s weird but I took a picture of it as well because I knew my doctor was going to ask for details and I’m awful at recalling specific details in situations like these. I was more emotional about the pain than I was about the actual passing. The night before was painful and I ended up spending about 8hrs being poked and prodded in the ER. I basically had a missed miscarriage and the process was pretty drawn out so I had all my emotions when I first found out. My doctor was scheduling me for a dnc so I had to call and notify her that it passed on its own but apparently the fetus hasn’t been viable for about 2 weeks so I was becoming at risk of getting an infection. Heating pads, pain meds, water, lots of pads, and rest is what I've been living off of for about 4 days. My husband and I are very disappointed and are handling it differently. He wants to try again immediately and I want to wait. I just want the entire process to be over so I can move past it then maybe I can think about what to do next. Anyway, thank you for sharing your experiences and I’m sorry that you all have experienced/are experiencing this type of loss. It’s definitely something that isn’t easy to explain or fully process all at once. Praying for your physical and spiritual healing along with my own. ❤️

i’m 16 years old . i had felt many weeks ago that i was pregnant , my boyfriend and i laughed it off as a joke . but i genuinely felt like i was , my intuition was telling me i was . i was experiencing the symptoms , i got these really bad cramps which felt like contractions . i dunno how to explain it but you know how pregnant women breathe during labor ? well i found that that’s what really helped dull the pains , once i felt my cramps slow down , i ran to the bathroom and that’s when i saw . we are young & we are not ready , but to think there was a life growing inside of me . it really hurts to think i had to flush my child.

What helped me allot with the cramps while miscarriage was to run a hot bath , that did so much wonder for me, I was literally exhausted and almost passed out so the warm Bath made me fall asleep and kept me relaxed, it was a crime scene real blood bath but I made it, I would never wish this on my worst enemy, it makes me affraid to try again for another baby. ❤
