Yeah exactly, the story is something that's also definitely interesting to follow, it shows us why we should even care that someone is good at a video game, like where they came from etc etc :)
@@TimidPickle By adding counter play aside from shoot back. Sticking with your team didn't matter, you're a melee, if you were stunned all you can do is wait and/or die.
Sure, that’s a good point, but then there’s the assumption of having to wait for something to be viable instead of it being slightly OP or slightly underpowered VS making something definitely underpowered. If this was a league or tournament and half-way through they finally buff something that certain players use then it’s a strange imbalance but maybe I’m wrong aha
nothing for casual players to grind for? My man. There’s all the circuits with free items… I’ll agree stun gun is a crutch. What’s far more likely is heavy nerfs or stun gun becoming a ‘glitch’ gun. I can’t accept light class needing buffs when I go 25:2 in casual but 8:7 in ranked.
The light situation is very difficult that's for sure. In the full podcast we did discuss the difference between light being strong in casual but pretty rough in ranked, we are just sharing our perspectives, that's all!
Oh yeah sorry and for that point, I feel like once I hit Diamond, there isn't that much to do, sure the circuits are cool and a great step forward. I was thinking something along the lines of those cash-cups like Fortnite does, an event on a day of the week that people are excited to participate in
@@THiiXY that would be a good addition. When Fortnite started those cash cups, Epic was making tons of cash. Now with the downturn/interest rates/consumer sentiment Epic's management would be a lot more shy to the idea, but it's grandfathered in so they won't stop it. Embark is doing alright but a cash cup equivalent is a big sale with how the market is. There's a lot more pressure to show profitability immediately. Maybe something like regional cups?
Really liked this vid and the comp perspective from a fellow colleague. The fashion and loadout was also very fun. As a dagger lover I totally agree on the positioning being key (please for the love of dog people, get on comms and stop mindlessly throwing yourselves 😭). I disagree on the part about listening to high elo/comp (~top 20%) over casual (majority) however. I understand that the game is called the finals, and being in the podium is a goal, but the ranked side and the tournament mode is just a mode and a part of the theme of the game, not exclusively the focus of the lore or overarching seasonal story beats. Most often in shooters the regulars/casuals/low to mid mmr players are the majority of the population. Also they’re the ones who onboard new players and help them stick around. That works out better for embark, streamers and revenue for the game overall. Don’t get me wrong I agree on getting better through experience, data backed balancing and learning counters; but when metas start to form at the level that he plays, metas are optimized to the milliseconds and they make anything different risky or unfavorable. I do agree that some clases/gadgets need adjustment to have equity against others, but not at the cost of enjoyment for the majority of the population. Especially if the majority of the population has to get to the highest levels of skill to be heard or to feel like they have a chance.
Yeah I think the overall summary is that it's good to have a balance, I agree with you that we wouldn't want to lean way too hard on the competitive side, I don't think Piggy really mean't that, I think he was at least saying both sides should be heard, rather than currently the casual side. But I like your perspective, I think Embark is actually trying to slowly balance between the two, but there's a point where they have to really make a big decision, if the game is going to be a casual or competitive one. Because right now competitive players are taking a big risk sticking with the game, but casual players overall are enjoying the state of the game (mostly - with a few changes lol) I really hope the best for both sides, because I enjoy both sides, and care about both sides.
@@THiiXY i think they already made this big decision, i stoped playing after all these (especially light) nerfs. if they wanted a more competitive game, they wouldnt have done like that. i understood this way and lost interest in the game after that, but i get why they did it
GIVE LIGHT THE DEMATERIALIZER!! it should of been a light thing from the start!! they can quicky go behind teams or tanks to drain their hps quick and use to steal cashouts from under
also people need to see that this is still a new fresh game! players will find techs and mechs to work in the game to counter things just give players time to play and learn the game , the engine and how things work , i.e look at rocket league
@@THiiXY crazy take but give light the defibrillator then take it from med, lights will be more desired and bad light mains cant scream at people to defib them for running up and dying
@@Anyhl deff need to give lights something to counter with i didnt mind camo tbh before the nerf cause i learn how to look for it and when lights use it im a med main love med
Not gonna lie, I have 500 hours with Dash XP alone, solo q diamond, and have around 3500-4000 games played but Xdefiant is calling my name because it’s actually a balanced game. Not the greatest but I can’t stand the finals being so slow with the changes and then nerfing stun because of complaints yet in open beta stun gun was actually OP, however last season stun was not. Community is ruining the game for us. I may not be the “best” light player but I definitely have the experience and have my montages to prove myself. Great vid👍
Good podcast. I think Cash Out being the competitive mode for this game will be its demise for the simple fact that it is impossible to get a kill or make plays without 2 other skilled people on comms, which then immediately excludes most of the casual player base from getting into it because of the hard ceiling for progression. In counter strike and other competitive games you can make 1v3 plays happen with headshots and strategy. In the finals, you can’t make 1v3 happen in 99% of scenarios because of the mechanics of the game. It’s such a heavy emphasis on constant team play management which kills the casual fun for anyone going up against 1 good team with comms.
Thanks for watching!! Yes, I think that Terminal Attack is pretty promising and I'd like to see what direction that mode goes, I'm pretty sure that mode is going to stay, because why would they spend all this time developing it. As for ranked, I do agree that cashout third parties specifically are pretty frustrating, and I think it's a mix of myself not being great at the game and needing to think of pacing.
Don’t overwatch work despite being a team based game? I’m not the final fanboy, I just genuinely curious what you have to say since I do find the final and overwatch to be similar in some aspect
Yeah I think that Overwatch had quite a lot of other underlying issues but I agree that THE FINALS could benefit from a “rotation” of modes like Overwatch but I think players in this game are so used to 3v3v3v3 instead of 5v5 at the moment, so I’m not sure how it would work aha
Big brain idea here, what if because light is smaller than heavy and medium , they take a little less damage from explosions. Maby like 15% less and med 7% less. Then they could also increase the damage of some of these explosive weapons to make them more effective against heavy but still remain the same for light. This of course does not fix the fact that lights would be annoying for casual players but would be a nice buff for ranked players.
I feel like the only way a light benefits the team right now is by just killing people. Its got very minimal utility that helps the team as a whole (pretty much only the gateway) and therefore little versatility compared to other classes. For example on medium you can both play strictly support with heal beam, deffibs and maybe a bit of movement or just an entirely offensive role with dematerializer and full movement. And heavy can both play strictly shields for providing cover or otherwise do goo gun or charge and slam with sledge or autoshotty to play a sort of dive build, or like a more offtank role (like in overwatch when it was still 6v6). Theres just so much versatility with both defense and offence on medium and heavy, where as light is only good for 1 thing. In its current state light just hardly fits into that kind of team dynamic and it will keep being that way untill they add more team-oriented gadgets for it. Anyway, thanks for reading my full 6 page essay. Great content as awlays!
Yeah I agree with you, I know some people could say well simply don’t buff light and nerf heavy etc but I feel that it’s just going to stale the game even further, I think light should be introduced with more of the idea to give the heavy a hard time, maybe not directly counter them, but right now there’s really not much pathways to take. I agree which is why I’ve swapped to Medium instead, and it really is just “it” right now in terms of playing in compositions (HHM MMH etc). Thanks for watching too btw!!
Glitch grenade is still a game changer for your team to protect against heavy using bubble to steal cash outs or holding a position of power. But yeah see what u mean about it's main role now being to deal damage.
@@Mrshmeans Yes, that used to be true until they added glitch barrels. Glitch nades just last way too short of a time as of last patch and thus are not worth carrying imo.
As a heavy that uses charge n slam as much as possible, i think the stun gun should counter it. At least lock you in the direction your going. Also Heal and shield meta is so boring.
Yeah I was really surprised that it stops gadgets, really I think they should bring it back at least, sure if you want players to still have that movement then I get it but I like that the stun gun is a counter
May I ask why? Just interested from your POV because there’s a lot of people that enjoy this game, put their life work behind this game and escape the whole “corporate” tendency of having to shell money every 5 seconds just to play it. Maybe it’s because you don’t like some technical stuff in the game, but it’s a smaller team making it.
@@THiiXY They put console with PC players. PC players have been using cheating programs from day 1. The top 1k players are all cheaters. And even if that wasn't so, which it still is. It shows how much they have an advantage. PC players were out performing Console players before the aim assist nerf. And now they absolutely dominate. This game can't die faster. As someone who LOVED it. I caution my fellow console players and friends to not give it the time of day. It isn't worth the time it takes to download it alone. I got refunds on the currency packs I bought. I'm doing everything in my power as an individual to make the game die.
Yeah you're right, but then having a stun just for the sole reason of stopping a cashout doesn't really feel right to me, just personally... I feel as if it's fair to stop abilities too, that's all.
I play light, wouldn't mind if nukes returned although defiantly should not be as strong. It acted as a deterrent to prevent players hugging each other in ranked and was quiet a cool thing to mess around with in casuals. If they buff C4 they should also give breach more uses. It has potential as a meta gadget in the future.
@@THiiXY the slowdown effect is still major & can often lead to a kill, so it's not solely a cashout stopper. Although I kinda play Powershift only; no cashouts, but it's still amazing w/ 16m range
Ranked is not in a good state there is so many people who are plat 1 and diamond 4 that should be gold or lower there is to many people being carried, my last tournament I had a guy only contributed 2 kills the whole tournament and yet we won from carrying them and the guy was diamond 4
Yeah I was comparing the ranked distribution in different games to the finals and it's definitely imbalanced, but at the same time it's also because so many people want the Diamond rewards, so it's hard to decide between making the distribution more strict and rewarding those for the grind...
@@THiiXY They should make it more strict, grinding shouldn't be a reward, it will teach players to start taking ranked seriously, solo queuing is horrible if players hope in ranked thinking they can treat it as if its casual. I know guys who are stubborn to learn how to work as a team or play properly because doing what they're doing got them to diamond (carried) so why improve if they are already at the (highest level)
I love the goofy skins they have such as the stick bundle and aluminum foil goo gun. Its hilarious, and I would love to see them continue goofy skins like that.
I was light main for the longest time, but I was doing some challenges with heavy and medium and made realize. I can do the same results for a lot less effort. Your brain is at peak when playing light smartly, with the others, not so much
Yeah that's understandable, I think that sometimes people need to follow a lot of the basics (respecting lights health pool etc) and once that's done you can really master light but the path to that is easier with Medium/Heavy for sure.
I would also bring up the complete gutting of putting ANY gadgets on map objects- not explosives. You cannot throw Turrets or APS at people or positions now, and I think thats a bit sad.
Yeah that was again a fun mechanic which is sad to see gone because of the potential for really cool strats and ideas, I think that there was a bug where you could put the turret through the wall with it or something but another shame
they are diluting their game so much to the point where everything is easy and not skilled to the point where they can add robots to the game and they will have a chance to win the finals
@@THiiXY they just don't have any potential to do out plays anymore it's literally get too heavy players to push them with the RPGs and Lewis guns in your face and hope to God you do that faster than them, the gameplay is horrible right now easy solutions to make the gameplay more fun again revert the changes to light make all the assault rifles on medium more or less like the reverted Fcars range and damage there you go and put red dots on the akm and famas it would naturally give them more range.
5:22 it seems like in this part hes implying the competitive players are more important that casual, 'casual players were complaining, but competitive players werent' why should the devs ignore casual players and listen to competitive players?
I think what he means is right now competitive players aren’t even getting to have a say, I see what you mean but these have been trimmed, but he’s asking mainly for a balance between the both getting heard if that makes sense.
@@THiiXY yeah true, tbh im not too sure of all the nerfs/buffs that has been going on, let alone how it affects people so I probably shouldn't be talking lol, just something i thought and mentioned it
Aha, thank you, I don't think I'm really that good of a RU-vidr to deserve more but I do try my best to put out a variety of content to those that support me :D
Sorry, I basically wanted to create a quicker, shorter form of content for people that don't want to spend a lot of time with the audio, I'm not a good RU-vidr and I try to just upload and post what I feel people will enjoy, and I'm not good at that (which is probably why my channel is dying lol) I'll try to think of better ways to present the content next time... but thank you for watching and giving the feedback.
@THiiXY hay, don't be sorry. It's your channel. You can upload whatever you want. You are actually really good with youtube, I started watching your channel as soon as I heard about the finals beta and haven’t stopped since. And your channel is doing nice-ish. The views numbers are probably related to the player bace itself, not specifically your content.
I don’t have much time to post anything interesting but wanted to chime in saying I love this game so much I hope it makes whatever changes are needed to bring some folks back. It’s just so damn awesome!
Yes! You're just like me, I have a personal take where we have three types of players; Casual, Casual-Competitive (us) and Competitive. Casual-Competitive are players who enjoy playing ranked and climbing the leaderboards at a more casual level :)
Fair, I feel that a lot of lights really don't even require that, it's the gadgets that are the problem, but to re-balance that by giving lights some health changes it would be interesting to see what would happen.
The light just seems like it’s going to be a high skill gap class and we are going to accept that however there are ways to balance a gun/ability like they did with the fcar
Yeah I think that it's such a coin flip between light in casual vs light in ranked though, because any small change can really effect the casual experience, I think that it's very difficult for Embark, but they should decide if the game is a casual one or a competitive one...
Light must be hard to play as if they where to make it viable again in ranked then it would be OP for low end players in casuals which would ruin the game for many low end players. This is why they should also make heavy even easier to play than it is but nerf it as a whole to make it a more popular choice in casuals.
Yeah let's see what happens, I'm kind of worried about it but Embark have been doing some good stuff lately with content so let's hope it passes onto balancing!
Tbf i think we just gotta except light is going to be at most an alright but not best option in ranked. It's unlikely we will see it being in the meta comp in the future although maby we will see it being part of the second or third best comps like we did before cloak/stun nerfs.
Not even kidding I've played against this guy in casual quick cash and mopped on him. He doesn't know what to do when a team is organized and has a good heavy.
@@TwixieSZN it's not about using my head I've legitimately went up against him multiple times and waxed, maybe he has a good team for ranked who knows all I know is I for sure have clips in my captures of me charge slamming him and beaming him up
@@cuttadeleon9279 ohhhhh you used the attack that can 1 tap a heavy that has over double the health of a light to kill a light good job buddy your not good
@@TwixieSZN I said I beamed him in other ones but that's neither here nor there if you can't avoid being slammed by heavy and you have 3 evade boosts, you act like it isn't a weapon in the arsenal or something , be gone peasant
Right, but don't you agree that they at least need to hear the opinions of all sides? I feel that it's pretty unfair to tell someone that they don't matter or are invalid just because they play a certain class or, they play the game a different way than others. I understand that you wouldn't want the casual experience touched because, even I like playing THE FINALS for fun from time to time, but on the contrary, I also enjoy competition, and would love to support and see the scene grow for THE FINALS. Would be great to hear back from you!
@@THiiXY Call of duty started listening to the streamers more and more and more and now in MWIII you can't win a gunfight without mashing A like your life depends on it. And now XDefiant is doing the same thing. And the reality is, without casual players you have no videogame. So if you only listen to streamers, that's what happens.
Exactly, but my call is for balance, to hear both sides of the coin, I'm not saying that should cater to streamers as I 100% agree with you that it would push the game towards a negative place, but that doesn't mean even some competitive players have good ideas that even you could agree to? Thanks for replying btw, this is a great talk!
@@THiiXY I'm sure some of them do but quie a few competitive players also see things like the sword cancel emote thing as a feature and not a bug and want cheese like that to stay in the game. Not all, but some. I do not agree with cheese staying in the videogame, intended or not.
With cheaters like this being praised, it's no wonder people just say: "No, this game sucks." Embark should focus on streamers and content creators, that's where the cheats are.
