While we may not often pay attention to the clothes we wear while out practicing bushcraft or survival the reality is that having quality pants that offer a good amount of storage options can allow you to stow essential gear or resources gathered in the field. So in this video we take a look at my choices in pants and how you can acquire quality pants for reasonable prices.

I want to move to Fairbanks Alaska for college when I’m 18to get a 4 year industrial engineering degree and then after that I want to become a bush pilot and build a remote cabin and live in Alaska for the rest of my life.

Great review to open a topic that is important to me personally. Myself I am using 2 pants for this. The first is the Gamsbokk Bushcraft, this is a good winter pants because it doesn’t have much ventilation possibilities. But my favorite one is the Fjällräven Lappland Hybrid pants, this one is from the hunting line and it is absolutely fantastic.

It is all personal preference. We are all built different and some pants fit right and some don't. I would like to submit to you the Tru-Spec Tactical pants, my favorite. Stretchy, adjustable cuff with the clip for boot laces, good pockets, d-rings, and just work wonderfully well. I have the fjalraven but hate that they don't have back pockets and they throw a serious butt sag on me. But again, we are all different. But I will always promote Tru-Spec. My second favorite is the Deluth fire hose. Thicker, durable, stretchy and just a great winter pant.

I wear my carhartt pants for work and play. I guess wrangler cowboy cut jeans as well. Just grew up wearing this stuff on the farm/ranch. 🇺🇸🔪🌲🔥

My go to pants are military surplus pants with cargo pockets, they are very durable and not as high dollar as those specialty tactical pants. Alan Rice

I like the fallraven pants but I've still got a few BDU's in fact I've been wearing that style for the last 20 years daily unless I'm in my Utlikilt 😁🍙

The Vidda Pros Ventilated run a steep price compared to the standard in Australia. Being a cotton polyester blend, do you think it would be hard to just modify the standards by stitching a couple of zips on?

Wow, well its not just the zippers, there is additional material in the vented version to make it more flexible and that cannot be easily modified.

They do a good job at keeping mosquitoes out for sure. I haven’t needed knee pads, but it depends how much time you spend kneeling. Fjallraven 😉

Because ever since they sold out to China they are not the same. Before I came to Alaska I had 2 pair in particular that I wore almost exclusively for work and playing in the woods. Finished the off after starting a gas line job in Homer. Figured it was a no brainer to get more, bought two new pair at the gear shed down there. They didn't last a month either pair. Called carhhart up and got nothing but excuses. 1 month and both pair were trashed 🙄🙄🙄 Had a pair of rail Ryder for 6 month when the stitching gave away in the crotch, 1 phone call to them and had a brand new pair of Rail Ryders no questions asked 2 days later
