You can't go with Bussi, who has never played in the NHL, as your backup. Sweeney hasn't finished dealing.

I agree with everything you guys are saying. 100%. The only thing that could make this ok, would be if that 25th pick acually is a great player and is an add on to the lineup quickly. Like if we draft a guys, he has a good camp and makes this team and has a rookie campaign of like.. 12 to 15 goals and 40ish pts. I think we all be ok with this. If somwhow, and i mean somehow, Karpisalo acually playes well, all is forgotton. But i can't emagine Bs grapped him to not keep him unless they do have a team in play to take his contact on and were sending Lysell somewhere with him to bring back a solid forward, than i think we'll have to live with this.

I wonder whether Korpisalo is hurt and needs surgery- Boston can afford to be patient, let him get surgery and park his 2024-25 Cap number on LTIR for a good chunk of the year. if he rehabs and then they get him right, then they have a legit top 15 goalie to play if neither Buss or DiPietro are ready to be the number 2 or to deal next season for resources

Sweeney had zero money last year and put together a team that was worth watching and fans could root for. We have 25 mil this year to fill 3-5 spots. I'm not too concerned about the backup goalie at 3 mil with the 25 mil when we need goal scorers and the defense is fine

How is Korpisalo on the OT 1-on-1's? 🤔
@sagitt1856
@sagitt1856 3 дня назад
The owner of the B's must clean up the management of the team and show the exit door to Cam Neely and his good friend Don Sweeney. The management of team priorities is disastrous. Latest stupidity: agreeing to trade Linus Ullmark for .890 goalie (with a 3.27 goals-against average) from the Ottawa Senators Joonas Korpisalo with the end result being a measly $1.15 million salary cap hit over a year if management keeps it; and if management decides to buy out the contract (because his contract ends in only three years), the BRUINS will only get about $1 million per year until the 2031-2032 season. The Neely-Sweeney duo doesn't care about the fans and the team or what? The most comical thing about this exchange is that it is probably the additional acquisition of forward Mark Kastelic (low salary) which risks having a certain positive effect on the ice. Kastelic is excellent in faceoffs, he has very good skating, good speed and what's more, he is a player who physically imposes his presence; which the team misses a lot. He fears no one. However, the BRUINS only signed on with him for one season. In short, for a goaltender of the stature of Linus Ullmark (Vezina Trophy in 2023), the BRUINS have not obtained any impact player (nor any prospect) from the Senators. At most, they got a 25th first-round pick in Friday's draft. Well done ridiculousness! We need a different state of mind in the management of the team. It is important to choose determined competitors... and there is no shortage of names: Raymond Bourque, Patrice Bergeron, Zdeno Chara, Adam McQuaid, Nathan Horton, David Krejčí, Johnny Boychuk and others.

People have to understand, any time any time makes a move, it's always about money. The coaching staff made their choice of #1 goalie and #2 has to go because they can't justify paying both #1 money. Simple. So, lets just wish Linus Ullmark the best of luck in Ottawa and move on because the B's organization is doing just that.

So what to make of the Linus Ullmark trade? Well, for starters… Value wise the Ullmark trade stinks for Boston and only someone completely brain dead or drunk on Bruins Homer Juice when it comes to understanding NHL player, draft pick and contract values would say otherwise How are the Bruins better off in the short term or the long term when all they received is a first round pick to take on a bad contract (that was #25 was for), a fringe 4th line center to add to their stable of countless bottom six guys who don’t score and a lousy $1.15M in Cap Space for next year at the expense of adding Korpislo’s crap contract for the next 4 years? And get your head around this FACT Bruins homers and Don Sweeney Apologists The Bruins just got much worse in terms of talent in goal. Much worse. Even worse news, well besides the crap overall return for Ullmark? In 2024-25, the Bruins will be worse in goal than they were in 2023-24 because going from Ullmark to Korpisalo as the backup is the definition of getting worse…. AND The Bruins will spend more salary cap space at the goaltender position next year and they’ll be less talented in goal. Awesome, said no one with a brain So moving Ullmark did what to the goalie room in Boston? Again, next year their two goalies will combine for a cap number greater than what Ullmark & Swayman’s did this past year and they will be worse overall at the goaltender position Bruins homers. Try as you might. You can’t argue the above terrible TRUTHs!!! They are what they are. It is what it is Korpisalo's contract is an albatross and he's terrible as a player 5x5 defensively Ottawa's numbers were very similar to Boston's this past season So all this homer nonsense stating that Ottawa’s defense was bad and that’s why Korpisalo stunk... All 100% WRONG and nothing but Don Sweeney and Bruins Homer Propaganda based on what actually happened on the ice up in Ottawa this past season Ottawa’s biggest faults this past season at the team level? Not a very deep roster, limited offense and bad special teams oh and the NHL's worst goaltending The one area Ottawa can hang their hat on because last off-season they made a commitment to improve it? Their 5x5 DEFENSE Ottawa in 2023-24: 15th in total 5x5 shots allowed 22nd in 5x5 total scoring chances against Boston: 18th in total 5x5 shots allowed (so worse than Ottawa) 17th in total 5x5 scoring chances just a few spots better than Ottawa Thus both Ottawa and Boston were basically close to league average in most 5x5 metrics defensively and in no shape or form was Ottawa worse than Boston defensively last year at 5x5 and the METRICS not homer OPINIONS, PROVE THAT!!!! The difference? Boston's goalies bailed them out repeatedly with elite, Top 5 league goaltending while Korpisalo was literally the absolute worst goalie in the entire NHL The value of taking on 75% of that crap contract of Korpisalo's for the next 4 friggin years is basically the 25th pick in the draft Again, to dump that kind of crap contract for a terrible player with too much money and term left on their deal, most teams would have to move a 1st round pick or a 2nd and or some prospects That's what happened here Thus, what was Ullmark traded for because the 1st was for taking on the Korpisalo crap contract? A 4th line AHL grinder and the $1Mish in Cap Space they'll save between Ullmark and Korpisalo's contract next season. #gross Further Proof this was a 1st round draft pick for a bad contract deal? John Moore. Moved a 2nd to Anaheim for nothing but Cap Relief by Don Sweeney Further Proof? David Backes moved to Anaheim with a 1st round pick and the Bruins highest drafted player from 2018, 2nd round D-Man Axl Anderson, for Cap Relief and a concussed Kase that barely played for Boston for nothing but Cap Relief Further Proof? Matt Belesky moved in the Rick Nash deal with former Bruins interim GM Jeff Gorton asking for Ryan Lindgren in return to take back 25% of Belesky’s contract THIS is the cost of moving a bad contracts in the NHL and Ottawa just paid that price to move off of Korpisalo’s. The 1st round pick, #25, was given to Boston to take on Korpisalo’s crap contract for the next four years so stop saying Ullmark fetched a 1st round pick. He didn’t. Saying anything differently is tantamount to either flat out lying, ignorance or delusional Bruins homerism Not to mention, bottom of the first round draft picks typically take 3-5 years to develop into regular NHL players (if they do) and all they typically are are bottom 6 forwards or bottom pair D-men The Bruins 1st round picks in the numbers 25 to32 range under Don Sweeney going back to 2015? Beecher, Frederic. Two bottom six guys. So what are they even going to get with that 25th pick with Sweeney being the guy making the selection and how many years before that pick even plays a shift in Boston? And before dopes say Pasta was drafted with #25. Don Sweeney wasn’t the GM. So…. FACTS!!! No Opinions here: -NHL's worst draft capital situation for the last 6 or so years due to Sweeney pissing away all of their draft capital fixing his UFA, salary cap and drafting mistakes or chasing their latest playoff choke -NHL's worst farm system that has never been ranked better than 26th in any year of Don Sweeney's tenure as GM and is currently ranked between 28th-32 and dead last in the NHL EVERYWHERE!!! -No real 1c or 2c on the team or in the organization. But no draft capital, the NHL's worst farm system, bottom of the league draft capital and not having a real 1c or 2c anywhere to be found.... All of that has been worth it because Don Sweeney's Bruins won a lot in the playoffs right? Um, nope. Actually the Bruins have been nothing but choking dogs in the playoffs under Sweeney: -8 of 9 years Don Sweeney's Bruins have failed to win more than one playoff round!!! -ONE, 2nd round series win in 9 years as GM, ONE!!! So to sum up, the Ullmark trade sucks from a sheer value standpoint for Boston. If you actually know anything about player, contract or draft pick value in the NHL this wouldn't have to be explained Trade value wise, the Bruins got torched in this trade as the 1st's value is Korpisalo's contract, that's it. Thus again, Don Sweeney basically traded Linus Ullmark for a 4th liner with a year left on his deal to add to his stable of 50 bottom 6 forwards and a lousy $1M in Cap Space next year They needed the entire Cap Space or a legit roster player in return for Ullmark. Not this mess of return. But hey, I'm sure we’ll all be looking back 4 to 5 years from now when that #25 pick is finally tolling away on the Bruins 4th line and saying to ourselves damn, that Linus Ullmark trade really put us over the top :) Don’t get fooled by the 1st round pick either. One, it’s #25 and go look at draft history and get back to me when you find out what #25 typically yields. Then go look at Don Sweeney's draft history. #Yikes... Historically #25 either often turns out to be a fringe NHLer all together, a bottom 6 forward or a bottom of the roster d-man. The 1st also wasn’t for Ullmark, again, it was to take back Korpisalo’s crap contract Two, Ottawa’s defense didn’t suck at 5x5, the stats prove that. Korpisalo stunk, that was Ottawa’s problem.. And the 4th liner they got? Awesome, another 4th line guy to add to their 1,000 4th line guys, who also doesn’t score, who only has a year left on his deal Defend this trade all you want to Bruins Homer Nation, lord knows you will but this trade stunk value wise for Boston. The Bruins didn’t get better now,(they actually got worse), they barely opened up any Cap Space and they’re now stuck with the NHL’s worst goalie and worst goalie contract for the next four years. The only saving grace? This was probably the only deal out there for Ullmark after LA and NJ went poof. So take what you can get I guess at this point BTW Super Winning GM of the Year strategy. Ye ole’ take what you can get dump of a trade :) The Bruins Farm System is rotten, so adding anything to it with that first round pick should make it better, theoretically, so it's not a complete ZERO of a trade And who knows? Maybe another miracle happens and #25 turns into the next Pastrnak in five years. With Don Sweeney's drafting record it seems more likely he'll draft the next Zach Senyshyn than the next Pasta but I guess we'll all find out at some point down the road either way.... Trade Grade today?: Somewhere between an F+ and a D, well for Boston anyways For Ottawa? Somewhere between a B and an A-. Last year Ottawa vastly improved their 5x5 defense. This off season they've already addressed their biggest hole by going from the NHL's worst goaltending situation to having recent Vezina winner as their starter That's called progress at the organizational level by Ottawa and again they still have the #7 pick and $12M in Cap Space to work with. They seem like they're moving forward. Does anyone feel that Boston made progress here? Is progress adding the 1st round pick at the expense of taking on that gross contract for the next four years? While also only adding a 4th line grinder and a lousy $1Mish in Cap Space? While at the same time ensuring that in 2024-25 their goaltender room will be worse talent wise and they'll actually be dedicating more Cap Space to Swayman/Korpisalo than they did Swayman/Ullmark this past season? BTW.... Getting worse talent wise at a position and paying more to do it... Um, Bruins Homers and Don Sweeney Apologists.... That's what you call "BAD". VERY BAD!!!! :) Don Sweeney Strikes Again!!! #gmoftheyear 😂😂

Oooooof. Stopping this video after the introduction. I usually like this podcast, but Conor isn’t seeing the forest through the trees on this trade. This is a potentially good, and (at worst) neutral trade for Boston, when considering Ullmark’s leverage (via the partial no-trade clause). Korpisalo, under Bruins coaching, will either be an improved part-time player in 2024-25, or he will be shipped out for the best available re-compensation. Either way, Boston gains a draft pick, a (cheap) roster player, and $1M+ in cap space prior to free agency signing time. Thumbs down, CLNS network. Booooo

Don’t go being a reasonable person now. Korpisalo is a very competent goalie at LEAST miring in the shitstorm of Ottawa. They’re going to find out Linus, despite his Boston induced Vezina pedigree, is a marginally better goalie at best and they could be scratching their heads saying, well I guess it wasn’t the goalie who the problem was
