When on the road portion of the CDL road test, a student must identify and call out all road hazards. This video is what a student should be saying during the road portion of the road test.
My examiner told me to shut it up . 😂😂 That I talk too much. Only to say something when I see railroad, bridges, speed limit. Everything else I can keep it for myself
Just wanted to thank you guys i passed my road test today and this video really helped me alot i said everything you mention and passed with literally no points 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Saw this video the day of my Maneuvers and driving segment for passenger endorsement. passed cause I repeated all your call outs ! Thank you drive safe
I failed my road test in staten island for school bus, I announced every sign but I failed for something stupid like crossing the line into upcoming traffic because the road was very narrow and that's why she failed me, apparently some examiners are really screwed up people, I have my road test this week in goshen ny cdl test site, I hope to report good news
Nice job! This video brings back memories. It's hard to believe that it has been 31 years since I got my CDL. I went to a driving school in Liverpool, NY. I don't think there were any options in the Binghamton area back in 1992. I haven't driven since 2002, but I still maintain my CDL and get a physical every 2 years. It's my fallback career if I ever need it. There is always a demand for CDL drivers and it's a good career for the motivated.
@@werthefutureStayWoke Information technology. The two jobs sort of overlapped. Someone I knew need a CDL driver to haul recycled computer equipment from hospitals in Philadelphia. I was about to go to Rochester to work for K.J. Transportation, Inc. (I think they were bought out since then). He rented a tractor and 53' trailer from Ryder and I drove it. When we returned. I started working on the computers, refurbishing and selling on eBay which was big at the time. I took a Microsoft course at SUNY, and here I am 21+ years later working in IT.
Unfortunately my tester told me NOT to do call outs and they help me organize my thoughts and actions. He said it’s distracting to him. This combined with a “unsafe move” but the safest move possible caused me to fail. I shifted on a left green light and failed my shift. Light turned yellow and I decided to stop before I start to turned in neutral then shifted into 3rd and waited for traffic to clear and completed my turn.
IMO, having to dialogue the driver's train of thought would produce a very unsafe environment. Thoughts happen in the fraction of a second. Having to articulate each thought concisely takes several seconds per each thought and it just seems very counter productive to the demand for safe operation. I hope when I test to get your type of instructor.
It's unfortunate that they didn't let you handle the callouts. It would have been beneficial to allow you to carry out these procedures, as this is standard practice for all Commercial Driver's License (CDL) road tests nationwide.
2:25 this is the incorrect turn method if you have a tractor trailer. I am guessing this isn't that, it's probably a 5 ton truck or about 15-20 ft in length type truck. Any truck higher than 40 ft in lenth would've hit the car to the left of this truck. So I'd like to know, what kind of truck are you using in this video.
Without a doubt, they are! The central concept, however, is to enhance a driver's hazard perception. Even post-road test, you'll be instinctively identifying potential dangers.
You might have to go otr for experience. It’s a lot of trucking companies like prime, Schneider, swift, crst, that’ll take you. You can also apply to Sysco, Pepsi, coke or a Budweiser for local they take no experience.
Man I got my cdl with swift worked with them for 6 months, started filling out apps and ended up getting on at Pepsi. 6months to 1year of driving experience is all they ask. some ask for as little as 3-6 months of driving experience. I actually had a few companies call me they all said either 3-6 months driving experience or 6 months to a year of driving experience. Just my experience. Hopefully, you've found something by now.
Talking is the best way to assure the driver is in the moment. Letting the mind drift into other things while driving is determential. All it takes is a few seconds.
