What to See in Rome? Visit a Forest! 

One of my favorite places of my childhood, a bike ride and gelato in Ostia plaza.

In all my years here in Rome I never knew about this park. Somewhere peaceful to reflect and think of family.

Very nice. Looks like a great place to escape from the noises in the city. Ostia was the setting of a Netflix series about Rome. Blood of Rome. Great series. Hope all is well.

Very nice, I love silent places in nature. Reminds me of my home town where there are a lot of pinete. I also love the sea.

Looks like such a peaceful place! Such gorgeous sunsets at the beach. A while back my adult kids encouraged me to start filming in Sicily. Thank you! stayed at a beach front hotel back in March. Didn’t really explore the area but I will the next time. My Tuscan friend wasn’t impressed with Ostia, not sure why.

Nice. Never made it down to Ostia, but would like to see the ruins there. I did Villa Doria Pamphili early this morning for the first time. Also pretty quiet compared to other places. Felt guilty since I was the only one who was not jogging.

Also checkout the woods near San Vittorino. The park(s) there have a dozen old bridges and pieces of aqueducts to visit. The area is covered by busses during weekdays. There are also nice hiking areas in Castelli Romani and Marcellina (North of Tivoli). Unfortunately, afaik the only way to get to those places is by car or bike. It's a lot of uphill and a few hours ride tho.

Hey David! Sorry this is off topic.. I just found your channel. We have some cool things in common. I'm Italian American from New England. My family comes from Castellamare and Pompeii. I have always been a language nerd. Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French... After getting pretty good in Italian, I thought my grandparents would be so happy to speak with me in Italian. I started talking to them and they said some crazy stuff and said they couldn't talk to me in Italian. They are second generation. Recently, I started to study Neapolitan by teaching myself. I started getting the ear for it and putting together simple conversations I could have. After about a week of doing that here and there, my grandparents were at a family party and the look on their faces when they saw that I could talk to them and understand them was like nothing else. I felt more connected to my family. At first, napulitano sounded alien. Now, I can see with a bit of practice and being able to speak other languages, that it is totally doable. How long did it take you from learning Italian to napulitano, and can you recommend some good sources for someone like me to learn quickly? You have a great channel! Ciao David,se ti piacciono i posti boscosi e non conosciutissimi,prova a fare il giro del lago Albano, c'è il sentiero ma se vuoi puoi anche entrare nel bosco, è vicino a dove abito e da ragazzo ci andavo spesso a fare il bagno, perché non mi piace prendere il sole e lì c'era l'ombra degli alberi.👋👍

Thanks David. Have you been to Landispoli and if so, what do you think of that area? I’ve also been hearing the horror stories about the the scarcity of gas and the rising costs of utilities. How have you been dealing with that?
