It is funny, in Hungary for engineering courses the pass grade starts from 60%. It usually means you know everything inside out but you are allowed to make mistakes. As for large plotter plans / models, similar nonsense tasks were there to demonstrate you are able to get it done even when there were no such plotter in the county.
