My main thing is weight. I hate having big AND heavy things like a crawler course. I like being able to easily move it. The concrete seems good if you go real thin. But still heavy overall.
It’s a lot lighter than carrying that one rock around or if you got 10 of those rocks to move around versus 10 of those you just made yeah great idea guys that’s awesome👍👍😎
After watching your earlier videos, I built a course using old bedsheet. It worked fairly well, except the thread count must've been too high. It did not absorb the cement well enough and left patches of exposed sheet. I applied a skim coat of cement over the sheet after it hardened enough to stay in place. Its super tough and looks great. Thank you for showing us your technique!
@@michaelnelson6468 yeah each fabric will have it's own density and will require some slight changes. But it sounds like you've cracked it awesome work Glad you're happy with the results 🤘
The plastic mesh looks like it would work great to create an old dilapidated concrete building. Something out of a war scene, or post apocalyptic scene. Definitely has its uses, just not much for rock crawling.
Hi Tim We do indeed we hold competition and we also run open Sundays normally last Sunday of every month which starts back again in September. Where based in Buckinghamshire you can find us on Instagram or Facebook to get more details 🤘
Im stoked to see some proper testing on a video. I have used plaster sheets, spray foam, then 2 different versions of using Durhams Water putty which is like a powder that mixes into a sandable wood putty. I mixed like 5 to 1 and soaked thick shop towels (thicker paper towels) and placed them on the course like plaster sheets then mixed like a 3 to1 mixture and just rubbed it on. The durhams is like $5 a can and comes in like 80oz containers. I like that it dries super hard and tons of traction. Definitely cheaper better products then plaster sheets.
Hey wanted to pop back on this video and tell you i tried your tshirt method with Durhams Water Putty in like a 3 to 1 or so mixture. The results were good. I would put plaster sheets at like a 8 out of 10 for rigidity and I would put this combo close but not quite like 7 out of 10. However with your concrete mixture idea I know it would be 10 out of 10 so thats my next test. Will share results when finished.
@@F.N.G.RC1 awesome thanks for sharing your progress 🤘water putty never heard of that, also be interesting to see what you think of the weight of the cement test as we just built two modular courses with the towel technique and it's surprisingly lightweight 👍
@@REACTIVETERRAINRC yeah i can tell the tshirt material is alot heavier over plaster sheets just side by side. I think the towel idea really makes for a thinner but strong material. Like ive said ive used the soak method with the water putty and the heavy blue shop towel paper towels and it worked but definately lower on the rigidity scale. might have been my ratio of powder to liquid as well.
After watching this im bound and determined to try your method on a few different areas. It really might come down to thats the best method for outdoor use. Speaking of how does this hold up outside. Can you do a video leaving it out for a bit in the weather to see how it holds up outdoors?
Ok so I used to build, 3d background for aquariums. Using cement to cover polystyrene. And fabric mesh to secure the joints. These last anywhere from five to six seven years before showing any signs of flaking and crumbling. But where happy to do a video to show how effective it is 🤘
@@REACTIVETERRAINRC thanks for the quick response. Ive loved watching your stuff and you bustin on your buddy lol. I will definitely try your method and do a video and tag you guys.
Thanks for the video been thinking to build a mini crawler course for a while now but didn't know what technique to use. This helped alot. Wish i had a space the size you do to build a big course with many lines to take
Not been into the rc rock crawling that long but loving it. So recently come across your channel love the content. Used to think having the fastest rc car possible was good. But now having something thats slowest as possible...! Who knew you could have so much more fun.
@@harryeskriett4365 yeah we have had all kinds of RC in the passed but definitely enjoy the 1/25 and 1/18 scene really like the terrain creative side of the hobby
What was it you was using cement powder on its own or postcrete? because I noticed it was a bag of postcrete on the table when G Dog was mixing it with the cloth as I think I'm going with this method
@@harryeskriett4365 so we use cement for the slurry and it you want to sprinkle post Crete on areas to and a different texture and more grip. We actually sived the post Crete to just get the cement as It has a accelerant in it so it goes off quicker 🤘
