Now that Ahsoka is over, there are plenty of other related stories Star Wars fans might want to explore. But that can be an overwhelming idea between the various options in series or books. So today I'm going to try to help ease fans into the Star Wars universe outside of live action storytelling.

I actually started rewatching the Clone Wars when Ahsoka started. I forgot how good that show is.

My husband wasn’t interested in TCW until watching Ahsoka, so now I’ve started showing him “essential Ahsoka episodes” from TCW based on an article I found online a while ago. It cuts the amount of episodes down to about 65, which is still pretty good considering how many there are total.

Will you show him episodes like the umbara arc and citadel arc? They're pretty good arcs despite only one having Ahsoka in it.

@@thevenom2731 Citadel, yes, since Ahsoka is in it. As for the Umbara arc, I’ll ask him if he’s interested in it. We’re not near either arc yet though, since we just got through season 1.

My husband and I started watching Rebels right after the premiere two episodes of Ahsoka since we enjoyed the show but needed more context for what was happening. We liked the first season and ended up watching all four within a couple of weeks. I had always heard the series was too silly and made for kids, while much of that is true, I also found it to be a light and easy watch. Actually, a pretty good palate cleanser for the dark and dramatic tv shows on streaming these days. (Well, it can get into more serious topics but I'd say most episodes end on a hopeful note.) Big thanks to the SWE team for keeping me informed and entertained through the Ahsoka series, and for becoming one of my new favorite channels. :-)

I'd also recommend A New Dawn since it shows how Kanan (Jacen's father) and Hera met. Plus, the childish tone warning is one I say applies more to Rebels season 1, but even then, that season has serious, even dark, moments. Another thing I'd add is that while Rebels features guest characters from The Clone Wars and live-action films, the Ghost crew isn't outshined and stands toe-to-toe with the guests. And the crew in my eyes is one of, if not, the best Star Wars teams ever.

I made a list of important clone wars and rebels episodes for my friends after Bo Katan and Ahsoka first appeared in the Mandalorian, and none of them used it. But they're all Gen Xers who are really mad at the prequels for existing so maybe I need better friends. I kid but our media tastes are so different, its like a different language.

Can't recommend Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology enough. It's fantastic. The audiobook is narrated by him, and he's a fantastic storyteller. I listed through the whole thing whole playing 2018's God of War. I'd prefer that method!

I would like to personally recommend the show Black Sails. It’s a prequel to the classic book Treasure Island and it’s one of the best written and most underrated television series I’ve ever seen. Ray Stevenson plays Black Beard and it’s probably his best work.

No recommendation for folks to watch Resistance to see Hamato Xiono's two appearances? XD I think it's easier to watch Clone Wars in release order. That's how I would have anyone watch it with the only stipulation being that they have the chronological order list nearby just to see when things take place if they do get confused. There's some placement of Season 3 episodes that really don't make sense if you ask me, particularly the more political ones. We defeated the bill to create more clones! Next episode, we're making more clones! Uh, excuse me, what made you change your mind? The Senate Building's generators got blown up, but you voted against the bill to make more clones after that. Now you decide to go forward with more clone production, and it's resulting in the death of Senators because Lolo's on a rampage. Oh, and also Assassin somehow takes place pretty much just before Hostage Crisis. It's fine to take place before Hostage Crisis, but then who breaks Aurra Sing out of prison, and when does that happen? And why couldn't Ziro be broken out at the same time? She's attempted to kill Padmé multiple times, you don't just get to pay bail for that, you're serving time. The first half of Season 3 is nuts with the timeline, but they also do a good job at making you aware of when things should be taking place in a general sense, Rookies is nested between Clone Cadets and ARC Troopers despite the episodes all being quite separated from each other. Hostage Crisis is right between Evil Plans and Hunt for Ziro, it makes sense, but does it absolutely have to take place where it does? It's when you get specific, it gets a little weird because there aren't more buffer stories inbetween certain arcs that form when you star combining Seasons' episodes. Or maybe I'm just overthinking things.

Thank you so much for doing this!!! Ahh just yesterday I Googled what books I could read in order because I'm old school, Return of the Jedi will ALWAYS be my favorite and I HATE the 3 new movies and especially what they did to Luke. I already started Heir to the Empire on audible and my son has me started on the Clone Wars, but you're right it's sooo hard to stay focused on 😂....but I would really like to know your recommendations to read about Luke? I want to know more about his story, his REAL story, like with him and Mara Jade ( hope I said that right) I'm so in to Star Wars right now and I LOVED Ahsoka and I love your channel....Thank you!!!!💜

If one is a Ray Stephenson fan, I cannot recommend HBO's Rome series strongly enough--it established him as a major star, and his character, Titus Pullo, is one of the main characters in the show, and is based on someone of that name mentioned by Julius Caesar in his De Bello Gallico (and, interestingly, Kevin McKidd, who plays Lucius Vorenus in Rome, also played Fenn Rau in the various animated Star Wars shows, so another Mandalorian playing opposite Ray's Gar Saxon!).

Hello. long time viewer of your channel. I love your content. This might sound a bit nit picky but can you try to slow down your reading? Maybe to a bit more of a conversational cadence? Listening to you feels "unnatural". Ive tried slowing you down to 3/4 speed and it is just odd.

I don't know why Disney+ and some others include the BOBF episode in this regard. Sure, Ahsoka's in it, but it's not really important for her, certainly not essential. Then again, Disney+ _excludes_ the Mortis arc from that grouping.

I remember reading the Thrawn Trilogy back in 2019 in anticipation for The Rise of Skywalker. It was an incredible read! If you listen with music, it really feels like what I imagine would have happened had George made movies before the Prequels, like an alternate universe. I like the sequels, especially The Force Awakens, but it still is worth reading for any Star Wars fan. So give it a shot!

For Ray Stevenson stuff, definitely check out Rome. It's pretty clear that in Rebels, when they were looking to cast the Mandalorians, they just mined the cast of Rome: Fenn Rau, Gar Saxon and Tiber Saxon were all voiced by Rome alumni.

Very much this. Rome is a miniseries that taught Game of Thrones many of its tricks (I mean of course the early GoT seasons, not the controversial later seasons)

I started to listen to starwars audiobooks while working on my cosplay. Started with Ahsoka and now I’m addicted. Though still hesitant to read the thrawn books. So far I liked the high republic ones least, Bloodline, Dark Disciple, Master & Apprentice, Padawan and the Padmé trilogy most. At the moment I’m listening to the Dark Lord Darth Vader one

Stephen Fry's retellings of ancient Greek myths and legends are excellent -- and I have to heartily recommend the audiobook versions of them (from Audible, don't know if they're exclusive to that platform or not) read by Stephen Fry himself. Can't beat that!

For my fiancé’s first time watching through the Clone Wars I took the chronological order and compressed it into roughly 110 episodes focusing mostly on Ahsoka’s journey with a secondary but still heavy emphasis on the failings of the Jedi and the Republic. It really helped with the series’ pacing and I feel it really hits between “just the essential episodes” and the experience of binging an entire series

I spent a lot of time in bed recovering from cancer treatments (in remission now). I got Disney+ and decided to watch everything Star Wars…all the live action movies first, then all the animation. (I have skipped the Lego stuff.) Doubled back and watched everything in timeline order, following guides. I have now watched all that Disney offers many times over. Love Rebels and Clone Wars but also enjoy live action series. I also discovered “Star Wars Explained” and enjoy the deep dives into all things Star Wars. I have begun reading Star Wars books…find them more challenging but with some background knowledge, they are satisfying as well.
