One item you have left out - spare wheel bearing. I also include Motul tyre repair spray, 150ml off-road chain lube for multi-day rides and 150ml WD-40 lube

Hey Greg yeah I have spare wheel bearing I take on the longer trips just not the short ones I probably should have mentioned that. Those smaller sized cans are a fantastic idea I’ll grab one of each, thanks mate👍

Nice kit mate, the only thing I’d add is some locking pliers. Good for using as a brake or clutch lever in a pinch, locking off broken hoses or just as a third pair of hands.

Good kit, I'm working on mine, it's pretty comprehensive, still have some sundries to add, liquid metal, tape etc...like many things/kits you add and subtract till it suits your needs...I have a couple of bikes so trying to arrange a kit that I can move between both.

Yeah mate that’s it hey, make the kit that’s best you and your motorcycle(s) bit of a working progress to get it right I reckon. Thanks for watching👍

I’ve seen those usb air compressors on eBay and wondered what they were like. On my old bike I had a spare clutch and throttle cable zip tied to the working one so if anything happened it’s just a matter of switching ends over. And yeah don’t buy a stocked tool roll, you’ll pay for half the stuff you’ll never need. Just buy the tools you need. Great video man
@anotherguyonabike4726
@anotherguyonabike4726 8 месяцев назад
That’s a great idea with the cables mate👌yeah the compressor actually works well i do however like the little mini ones you can buy that look like tiny 4x4 compressors. I agree about the tools, you end up with crap you really don’t need if you buy a tool roll with them included. Thanks for watching mate👍

Looks good Curtis I do the same sock thing as well I sprinkle some baby powder in the socks to decrease any of vibrations rubbing I also have a short piece of rubber pipe that slides over the top of the spark plug for when I’m seating it into the spark plug hole as it easy to cross tread it Then tighten it up with the tool And I would take some spare fuel line And clutch lever and gear shift lever I have these items bolted to the frame And rolled up under the seat Cheers

Good size kit to cover most potential issues. Nothing wrong with going a little overkill, especially when you do a fair bit of solo riding. I really like your home made trail stand, simple, light, cheap, and effective! As i commented on your last vid, you'll definitely have a better run with the Ballard's Ultimate tyre levers. The fact that you scored them free on the tracks, even better! 👌
@anotherguyonabike4726

Cable ties. Different sizes. Small container of bolts / nuts. Incase one does work loose and falls out. Swap out the Phillips for a JIS [Japanese Industry Standard] screw driver.

Looks great. I purchased Asahi liteweight combination spanner set and combo tyre lever wrenches. EngDuro multitool and axle wrench/tow rope. Plus valve remover, screw driver, alankeys (only three i need), multi tool for front wheel and does something else too (Ballards brand) maybe one or two other smaller items. Less than what you've got and weighs less too. I only have what I need and no more. And CO2 canisters plus mini-compressor.

Great videos mate, I'm just getting into more Outback riding now and your tips are very helpful. Re the big shifter, if you want to downsize to a 10" or smaller, simply pull the jaw out by removing screw and thimble and file an extra tooth in the back of the jaw. It will allow a heap more opening width but strength diminishes as you get close to maximum.

Nice video mate. 3 minutes in, and I've already picked up some nuggets of knowledge. I'll be adding a 30mm socket, i did not even think of counter shaft nut. That stand is bloody awesome, cable repair is a brilliant idea. I feel like I need to revisit my kit. I'm lacking in a few side items. Do you always carry a front and rear spare tube? I'm Heading off on a solo multi-day adventure, I'm debating taking both. I usually carry a spare front heavy duty only along with a tube repair kit. Are those spare tube heavy duty? Fun fact I am currently wear the identical pair of socks, you have on those spare tubes lol. Great video mate super informative.
@anotherguyonabike4726
@anotherguyonabike4726 8 месяцев назад
Hahaha wow super random about the socks, what are the odds😂 yeah the tubes are heavy duty I know the ultra heavy duty ones can be difficult to get a patch to stick to so I just role with these. If it’s a day bush bashing trip I normally just take a front tube and puncture kit just so I have the option to use the tube or patch it. If it’s a multi day trip I always take the 2 tubes just in case I get a couple of punctures out in the middle of nowhere or it’s a Sunday in a small town and no bike shops are open I can get it fixed and keep travelling. Thanks for watching man👍

Nice vid, thanks man! I found you after looking for Rhinowalk reviews, great job on that too 👍. One thing that I like to have is a pen/pencil or marker(can be handy to mark things when wrenching). I wrap a bunch of duct tape/and or electrical tape around it too. Also, I like to carry a few little 100ml-ish re-usable containers and fill em with things like sunblock, hand cleaner, isopropyl alcohol etc.

Curtis, keep that larger shifter mate, I know you want a smaller one but it doubles as a hammer :D. Also consider nangs for airing up tyres quickly too, maybe a bit of spare fuel hose as well. Just my 2c. Great vid bud.

Can you list the sizes of sockets please? I've new to the DRZ and would be great to be able to cut to the chase and not have work out all the socket sizes myself. Also is it worth carrying JIS tips? From some videos I've seen on the carby, the screws are JIS, so I am speculating all screws are.
@anotherguyonabike4726
@anotherguyonabike4726 8 месяцев назад
Hey mark the sockets are 8,10,12,14,17,19,30. I have swapped some of the JIS screws out for Allen key bolts instead but it’s a great idea to still carry a bit for them so I’ll throw it in, cheers mate👍

Hey Mark it’s not currently on the bike I’m making some stronger brackets for it however I think it’s going to be a tight fit I’ll probably put the stand in with the spare’s bag or something I’d say.
