I guess I'd be somewhere in between hardcore retro, commuter and squid, with my 1979 XS1100 (not the special). 🤔 I like the 70s an 80s best, ride under all conditions and love a nice little trick or stunt every now and again. I'm never being reckless though, since I'm a drivinginstructor and would like to stay employed... 😉🤘
I like powerful naked bikes. A machine between your legs that can get me all the way up to the north coast of Scotland with no fuss, and plenty of power for overtaking. I am on the machine, and not in the machine. I am part of the environment, not cosseted from the environment, as I power along, My current bike is a BMWR1250R, I like A and B-roads with plenty of bends. Hate dual carriageways, they are boring.
I'm a mixed bag, snippets of almost all the riders you mentioned is me, except the Poser and Harley Rider. However I am open minded about the idea of a cruiser... I love naked bikes, top speed is not the be all and end all though. Call me a sedate squid, or a hooligan retro rider. A lone wolf, living for clocking up the miles, while being on the adventure to find biker Nirvana.
And then there are the "shut up and just ride" riders. These folks have been riding since they were kids, and have no loyalty to any specific brand or type. They scoff at the other riders because they all believe they need to classified into a group ...just shut up and ride!
I daily as well. Brushing the ice off the seat to head to work. Michelin Road 5 tires do absolutely beautiful for hot, cold, raining, or just carving up the back roads. I have put 7,000 miles on this set so far and it hasn't worn a flat spot from hwy miles yet.
How about: I ride for my sanity, for my peace of mind, and for the serenity of my spirit, kind of rider? Plus, I am an adrenaline junkie, which is why I have, also, been a journeyman in the IBEW for over 40 years, too....working high voltage. It's been exactly that, the meanest, coolest rush for me, riding bikes, since I began dirt riding when I was 8 years old, though I think that every rider is a combination of several of these categories, don't you? The common thread is the love, and the passion, for what riding represents: freedom! I love that line from the "Wild One" with Marlon Brando, when one of the townspeople in Hollister (CA) asks Marlon Brando: "So, what are you rebelling against?" after his biker gang takes over the town. And after thoughtfully considering the question, he answers: "What do you got?" I love that! It sums it up quite succinctly!! Safe riding, everyone!
What's with all this obsesion to categorize? I rode cruiser, modern and retro, what does that make me? Exactly, maybe it's a way to cope with the inability to fully understand the social backround of motorcycling.
Adv tourer n hardcore commuter here on a Tenere 700. The type "Poser", haha i am in a group full of it. Always buying the most expensvie gear n stuff but never ride more than 100km from home Way too many of these especially from where i come from
I don't know, I'm that guy who wrenches himself and rides in sneakers and sunglasses regardless of if on my EBR 1190 hyperbike, touring on my Harley or playing in the dirt on my Honda

Well to be honest i am among those slow riders, i ride at sane speeds but for longer duration and try to cover up as many miles as possible. I have been trying to do a very long trip, something like a 800 miles trip. Though i am unable to do so as i get BU** pain. I have tried various seat gel pads and memory pads, but they only give relief for shorter rides like 200-300 miles, after that my bu*** starts paining again.
Actually I realised I'm 3 types by myself! I have 2 motorbikes. A cafe racer which I built with the help of my mechanic, and an adventure bike. Honestly, you cannot state it this way, every ride has its own mood. Sometimes I go out with Crash master (my cafe racer) just to relax, ride slowly, show everyone how beautiful it is and how much I care for it. And sometimes i take Artur (my adventure bike) and make 5000 kms trip on road and offroad. 3 years ago I used to ride super sport (fireblade) only on racing track. Loving the speed and adrenaline. But then mood changes and you choose something else. That's my opinion and I have been riding for 27 years. Thanks for the video, liked it.
I aspire to be the Do it Yourselfer, the Slow Rider, and the Caretaker. All three of them take a big investment of time, but increase the good looks, longevity, and safety of your bike the most... which are my priorities. Yeah you can do the other things, but you're tearing up your bike, wearing it out, abusing it, and putting your neck on the line. You know adventure riders and squids have to be beating their bikes to h377 and back. I don't have that kind of disposable income to just tear up expensive sh|t, get mud and water in all the crevices to rust out the bike, scuff it by tossing it off a cliff going around a corner too fast, or pay hospital bills.
Great stuff as always. I think there is a little of all of them in everyone. I am a slow roller, (not that I won’t hit the throttle when needed), but I like to just cruise and enjoy the ride. I just like to ride no matter the weather. I think riding just makes the day better, it puts you in a relaxed mindset. I often tell folks, having a bad day, go ride for just 20 or so minutes, the answer to whatever it is will come. Thanks again really appreciate the content. Ride safe
It's a good bite to think over the nature of our own riding style. Yet we are a mix of four or five types. I always appreciate something that is related to riding..
2013 Harley Breakout CVO 110. I am a Destination rider. If I get on my bike it is because I am traveling far. October 2, 2023 left Washington State rode to Glendale AZ then to McAllen Texas visiting family. In Hermiston Oregon Currently On the road returning home.. I revel riding the Texas and AZ deserts.
Commuter, weekend, and past sports tourer. I have ridden in snow, rain, 100 degrees, and 1/2 Iron Butt Three times. At 67+ still love it! Is that weird or ignorant? We think NOT Also slow rider!! Some adrenaline but within realism
11- "The Collector-Customizer": Can be any of the 10 you mentioned (Personally I am a #4-Adventure Tourer with my 2021 Moto Guzzi V85TT; 12 Days Andes Mountain ride to Perú, etc... ) yet the Craving and Love for other Bike types is insatiable .... I own a Modified 1996 Suzuki Intruder 800 and a 1997 Honda Magna V4 750 (Both single seat "Bobbered"); For urban running around a 2021 Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (also undergoing customization) - and now I am on the hunt for a BMW R Nine T "Pure" in order to transform it to my liking. I love the old cafe bikes. The ones you would find in the parking lot of the ACE cafe in the 1950's and 1960's. They just ooze mechanical engineering. The modern cafe/retro/naked bikes are very reliable and double or triple the hp. I love the SuperSport liter bikes, even if I rarely exceed double digit speeds. Because they are just so cool. More power and handling than I could ever use, even at track day. Not every 911 or Corvette driver has hit 175 mph on that straightaway connecting the corners. But they could.
I have only been riding for 9 years now. Took me just short of 21 years to convince my wife to get a bike. Needless to say we are both addicted to riding now. We would most probably fall under the Ride to Live Cant wait to Ride category. Both in our 50s but riding makes us feel really young and carefree and without stress. Tx for a great channel
How come every one of your examples are negative about bike riders. What do you have against bike riders. Were you picked on? Were you bullied when you first started riding? Are you bullied now? Are you jealous of somebody? Again, what do you have against bike riders. Iol
