How about plush suits? As I found out this weekend at my first convention with my plush fursuit, they are NOT EASY to wear around! Your entire body is covered in a layer of polyfil padding which makes movement very difficult, and boy does it get hot fast! I have to wear a cooling vest to even be able to wear it at all, but it definitely helps. It's also HEAVY!! The whole suit weighs about 30 lbs which is a total workout to wear. At least I got a lot of exercise! And if all of that isn't enough, just consider how to store, pack, or travel with something that is 3 times the size of your own body! I definitely would not recommend a plush suit for anyone who is not a very experienced fursuiter (I've been suiting for almost 10 years now & have owned more than 10 fursuits which is the only reason I can pull it off!) All of that being said, I do love my fursuit, very very much. It brings so many smiles to people's faces including my own! It may be hard to wear, but I don't mind.
NeonSlushie very true!- I've been fursuiting since I was 8 (Im 14 now) and I'm really skinny. So if I were to wear a plush suit (I wore someone's plush suit before) and it is very tight and stuffy, even for a 98 pound teen
yea plush suits are also generally one big piece feet and hands are attached and you have little to no dexterity in your hands. like filling a bag with polyfil and sticking your hands in xD no fingers. generally a body and a head. head seems to be only thing that comes off separately.
Quadsuits are amazing, but they’re heavy and hard to perform in. Just getting into one is a task. If anyone plans on getting a quadsuit definitely take your physical fitness into account. If you have back problems, can’t handle heat well etc, I highly advise against one.
Well...I was thinking of extending my legs and having someone sit on my back but of course I'm going to bring the weight over to my arms and legs cuz I'll be 12
Honestly if you took money, my family, the physical work, how hot it can get, how hard it is to see, how heavy they are, how hard is it to get into one, and everything else out of the picture I would get a quadsuit. (I want one but of course there are many reasons why I can’t have one)
I really want a wyvern quadsuit and I'm just getting into fursuit making, it's going to be a hard task but in the end showing it off in conventions will be worth it
I'm going to make mine, and I'm doing a full partial too lol. Probably going to poodle when I want to suit but the heat is too much for full partialling
You forgot one more con about making your own suit: THE MESS. Omg, there's so much foam floating around in my house no matter how hard I tried to vacuum and it drives my dad insane haha!
Another con is that it's hard to find people who will make fursuit parts without a head. I was looking around for someone to make me handpaws, tails, legs and feet and most people I asked would say "sorry, we don't make parts for fursuits we didn't make". It's also still pretty expensive, so I just ended up making my own parts. Only buy a single head if you are going to make the rest yourself or already have parts.
As a part time wheel chair user I find that for me partials work better however I have worn a plantigrade fur suit as well and it was fun however it was fairly uncomfortable. Edit; I got my first digitigrade suit, it was a half suit it was very fun to wear and is now my favorite suit HOWEVER wearing it while sitting in a wheelchair was somewhat uncomfortable 😂
I think I'm going to try to make a bottom halfsuit for the legs so I can wear a dress and that way the tail can help hike the dress up in the back and show off all the cute ruffles! This video has been amazingly helpful!
SAME. like I don't care if it takes until I graduate for it to be finished, I just really, really want one. Lol is it bad that I put rolled up posters on my arms and run around my house pretending it's a quadsuit? I think I'm obsessed...
haha i didn't worry about em cuz it's pretty much the same as dropped crotch and digi times a thousand. Needs yet MORE space to travel, is even HARDER to do anything in, gets even HOTTER, costs WAAAY more, with the only pro being the stupidly adorable looks. And you'd probably survive a 10 storey fall with all that padding.
Plushsuits are best suits. I started making one for a plushie character I have and I'm addicted to wearing the mockup I made even though I die of heat in it lmao. Also bc I hate myself I chose to jump directly to a hard to make plushsuit rather than make a normal plantigrade fullsuit like i planned to lol.
Your arms are extended by pipes (kind of like stilts for your hands) so that you stand nice and evenly, the rest is basically a normal fursuit. The heads are done differently from maker to maker and depending on what the species is.
When you want a fursuit, but there are 3 problems: 1. You absolutely know they’re expensive 2. You’re too young and you’d grow out a fursuit very quickly 3. You’re a closeted furry and your parents have no idea what a furry is.
I am there with u on number 3. As for 2 I am 6'4" so I cant buy a secondhand suite or pre-made suite too easily. And I'm also a student with no job so 1 applies as well. Why is being a fursuiter so damn hard
I generally go ears and tail. I would love to partial and eventually full some day, but I'm not in a position to be commissioning makers. I have worn a dropped crotch full suit before, back when I was a teen, when working at my local zoo. I dressed up as Rocky the penguin, our mascot. I loved it so much.
I've debating about getting a dropped crotch suit. Being a penguin I imagine it was tricky to move in? My character's a weasel, though, so that "Waddling" might work differently than a penguin's body.
@Wheeler Bertrand Well, if you aren’t quite that experienced in fursuiting, or you can’t handle heat, i don’t think you should get a drop-crotch. Obviously, it’d look better, as it’s a weasel fursona! But, it’s ridiculously hard to walk in. Maybe you should try a plantigrade fursuit to make sure you’re fine with heat. Or even go a full-on digidigrate! However, it’s hard to work in, and the price! And many makers don’t make drop-crotches... But, I hope you can get one! Achieve your dreams!
There is also what i like to call the “true full” suits where the body, feet, and paws are all attached as one full thing. There are also plush paws that give the effect of having the paws of a stuffed animal.
I really want to have a quadsuit but don't have enough money (cuz y'know, im broke) so I'm going to attempt making one. *wish me luck* *and thanks for letting me waste your time*
That's the easiest way to do it you should probably get a maskimal first though because those aren't really expensive and then you could refurbish it to look like your own fursona
Sometimes I feel I’m too broke and untalented in the art department to be a furry xD i don’t do much contribution to the fandom as much as I’d love to. But since I’m only 15 and not legally able to get a paying job, nor do I have the time to learn to make a suit. I’d love one though. I’ve always dreamed of being an animal since I was younger, and since I just connected my dots to the furry fandom so I’m excited to be able to fulfill my childhood dreams.
I'm just 12 but ima start to save up all the money I can get and make at least a head then I will move on to the paws and other things but I will do ik t in the cheapest way possible XD for my sake
I REALLY want a mini-partial so I can dress up like my Dungeons and Dragons character (they're a Tabaxi, AKA a cat-person) and these videos are all really informational!
This is another really useful video Pocari! I myself dislike full Digi suiting, as I can't stand the heat! However I have a 3/4 Digi suit, which I love because it still holds all the shape and character of a fullsuit, but I don't collapse from heatstroke XD
Ok so here’s my recommendation, I have a fairly simple design just tan with white snout and white belly and paws. Make the head, tail, and paws. Buy a onesie and then just add your design with sewing on fake fur. It’s so easy and much MUCH cheaper
Sure can! I plan to do one on fursuit accessories. But I'll tell ya my thoughts for now! I honestly love the look, I think it's really cool, but lots of people jump to the conclusion that it's kink gear (unless it's on a character where it otherwise makes sense like a sled dog and stuff). So just be aware you might get some remarks. Otherwise, go for gold!
hahahaha they're always falling out, I was down to 2 on one side and 1 on the other so I took them all out to see if anyone would notice. You're the first one to do so! Once I find my fishing line, I'll make some more
I'm in the process of crafting my own quad suit and to me, it's fairly easy. But as you said, time consuming. My biggest battle is deciding where I'm buying my fur. I may make my own. Yarn is cheap and I get to do what I want with it without looking too foolish. Keep up the good work! I love your suit!!!
I'm actually working on my first suit now. It's slow-going though because I don't have a steady job and I'm just working off what little money I have/can get. I've also been saving up because I'd like to try my hand at a couple different suit types. Wish me luck!
This was super helpful! I was planning to go for digigrade bc "ooh cool legs!" But after watching this realized a full partial/half suit would probably be the best fit for me and my character! I was super worried about how I could do the legs with my bad knees that might need medical attention but I think full partial will be perfect!!
(I'm someone who has yet to own let alone wear a Fursuit) For the longest time I really wanted a full suit the full body and everything that comes with it. But in terms of money and less supplies and time required for maintenance as well as transport and obviously the price, all of that considered I have decided over time I'm planning to probably go with a full partial instead. ( then simply wear a bodysuit underneath that best matches my Fursona's body color ) It's going to be a couple of years before I start investing and of course owning a fursuit but I get excited just thinking about the future.😌 I know that this video is a bit dated but I just want to say thank you very much for the upload!😃 videos like this really help the average person like myself so I really do appreciate it a lot, and I know there are probably hundreds if not thousands more people just like me who feel the very same.
Pocari Roo I'm about to make a fursuit (the first one I made by myself) and its NOT going to have a moving jaw. Should I still use a balaclava or just foam? Please like so Pocari Roo can see!
Max This is a bit late, but bucket heads make the head look bigger. I used to sculpt directly on my balaclava, but now I tried a bucket head (not finished) and it's looking much better compared to directly on the material
My engineer mind has been whirring for the past few days about how to make the best working realistic stilts I can. I have mostly figured it out. I really want to make a quad suit unicorn to wear to ren faires like beastcub does with Isabelle. Since I’m broke I’d have to make it myself but that’s fine since I have experience with sewing, it’s the foam work I worry about.
I LOOOOOOOVE half-suits! The no-pants look is cartoony and amazing (a lot of anthro cartoon characters wear no pants). And it's just the right balance of human to animal for me! And if you combine this with digitigrade, you get amazing results.
This helps so much! I’m in the making of a fursuit right now actually! And my mom was supportive enough to help me make digitigrade legs and feet paws and I’m making the head all by myself! He’s an African Painted Wild Dog Just Incase if u wanted to know 😁
YAY!!! More pocari videos! QNA : how long until neho is finished? I know that you don’t really have a deadline but do you know ruffly? Also can you make another furry journey video I know that you did that on the second ep of the bottle but a lot has happened since then Love your videos 💕💖 -Veronica the demon kangaroo Edit: QnA edit 2: #QnA
Very amazing video! Extremely helpful! Thank you so much Pocari! Now I know which one I would like to have thank you again!! :) Did anyone else notice Tony the tiger in the left bottom corner when she said great? Lol
Wolves are more common. If you're making it yourself, though, wolves would be much easier. Also wolves would be cheaper, since they don't have the feather and horn details nor the floor-dragging tails. But Angel dragons are definitely cuter and more interesting in my humble opinion. :) that said, there are plenty of cute and interesting wolves as well. It all depends on what you like, it's a personal preference, really :)
tøxic tea There is no such thing as better when you're comparing species. You do what you want. There is no better or worse when it comes to species of fursuits.
I’m gonna see if I can try to make my first 3/4 partial (half suit) this summer! I’m so excited because it’s the perfect look for my character, thank you Pocari!!! 💙
Digigrade/Digitgrade Legs: Pros: *Butt Cushions* Cons: *Bruh, butt cushions?? It’s worth it.* I don’t have Digigrade Legs or any part of a Fursuit, but if I ever get a Fursuit or make some I’d try to put up with it for the padding XD It sounds comfortable enough.
Well mine's only a partial which I'm quite glad that it is as you said it's cheaper it easy to move it around and you're not going to get as hot as much but the poem is especially if you have arms sleeves against a bit weak and you have to put elastic to keep it strong onto your arm but that's really not much of a problem and it's also good practice for those who are getting a full first suit that is the most common mistake in a lot of beginner fursuit is is they jump straight into a full fursuit without knowing the pros and cons so your videos of a wonderful advice please keep up the good work
Oh man, thank you for this video! I had a really hard time deciding what kind of suit I wanted to make for myself. Now finally the decision on a full partial has been settled :D
