Options? You mean the menu theme right? This music is commonly shared in all of the menus before you start story mode. And it’s not even this one, it’s a remix.

@@NekoinaBox2000 Yes, they’re both in the sound test, however this one is buried quite deep in at 17, whereas the remix is the 2nd track. And I was pointing out how the theme was not exclusively the options theme, but the general menu theme so stop it with your "misrepresenting info" BS because I did no such thing. All it does is make you look like a giant 🤡.
I’d love for Hideki Naganuma to just become the series composer from here on. He understands the vibe that Sonic gives off- an air of cocky urban attitude, something to jam and breakdance to.
I just want proper songwriting and instrumentation back, like in the SA1 character themes. The Rush OST is great but doesn't suit the rest of the franchise. Now a new Jet Set Radio with Naganuma at the reins... That would be somethin'
Naganuma left Sega a long time back. Even tried to apply with nintendo. To be fair though in my opinion he just doesn't cut it for Sonic at least for the entire series. A lot of his music sounds the same almost all of his stuff for Sonic Rush is almost 1:1 interchangeable with his work on Jet Set Radio. Both are great games filled with great music and Hideki is a master of his craft but... I think it would become monotonous quickly. Just my opinion though
@@CodeWeaverCW gotta be honest, hover had a lot of holes in it, of course I was playing it in Alpha tests so that's to be expected. I haven't picked it back up since they got Naganuma on but I hope they've fixed some of the problems since then
Fun fact, it was for the longest time, but then Sega did this kind of clean-up on almost all Sonic related music from them (I think it happened around 2016-2017). So now we have to pray it ends up on a compilation album on the official sonic Spotify page.
There isn't really anything like this soundtrack. Yes, it's similar to Naganuma's work on Jet Set Radio, but... And yes, it's kinda like other Sonic music, but... In all regards I think it's mostly unique. It's like a unique Sonic spin on the kind of genre of music Jet Set Radio spotlights. Faster, more frenetic, but still sample based
My all time favourite soundtrack in the entire series. It's so strange and sample-heavy but it works as wonderfully as it possibly could have and I love every bit of it for that. Something about this entire OST just screams "SONIC" more than any other OST to me, only being rivaled by Sonic CD (both versions).
I share the exact same opinion - Sonic Rush and Sonic CD really are the best Sonic soundtracks (though I’d personally add Sonic Mania too). There’s some other great ones like Sonic Adventure’s, but they don’t get to this level.
I feel that it really nails the aesthetic Sonic has always strived to achieve. Mario music tends to be light and orchestral, so Sonic music is heavy on percussion and acoustics while also being funky and groovy. Really leaves you with the impression that Sonic is the "cool kid" to Mario's "good boy," which is initially why he was created.
If anyone here is in college and ever gets invited to a party, I challenge you to play a playlist of this OST as an experiment to see if randoms would actually turn up to it
I didn't play the Sonic Rush soundtrack cause I hadn't heard it at the time, but while working register at game tournaments back in college I'd play a slew of Sonic songs out loud from my laptop. Endless Possibilities (Rockestrate My World) was very well received!
every time i hear this song i get such a huge chill down my spine. floods of memories from when i played this song when i was like six years old. sonic rush got me crazy obsessed into sonic games. thank you, hideki-san!
It only took me 3 seconds to know it was Hideki, the groove master himself. I didn't even know he made tracks for this franchise, but thinking about it, it's a perfect fit.
Those first few seconds where the instrumentals are really simple with the beat dropping like 4 times is Crack cocaine to my ears. And then the way it so smoothly transitions into the full theme... just AAAAAA this soundtrack is absolute gold

The composer of this soundtrack also worked on jet set radio. And jet set radio has the same vibe as splatoon does in the music. So that’s probably why since he worked on both tracks
The fact that this game used snippets of different themes as system jingles made it a pants shitting revelation when I actually got to hear the full renditions of these tunes, and this was by far the biggest one

i got this game around when it came out and although i remember LOVING the game and playing it a lot, i do NOT remember the music being this amazing holy hell my cartridge is long gone now but i might have to buy the game again just to hear the music coming from my DS Lite again
