if things are so rosy, why does Zelensky ban the opposition in Ukraine? I don't think anyone has the courage at the moment to say something against him in Ukraine. It's like going to the areas occupied by the Russians and asking them what they think of Putin. The old man said it best, talk about peace, nobody has anything to gain.
@jaysutton1071
@jaysutton1071 Год назад
@@PythonicMindset Russia is a terrorist nation, there’s no negotiating with a terrorist. Russia has been hell bent in the crazy kingdom building land grab, they must cease, and pay for it. There’s no justification for the bloodshed, the decimation of cities, etc…. Do you really see a solution? Please turn those typewritten words into real action… hmmm, I could imagine the power of your retort. I don’t think so.
@PythonicMindset
@PythonicMindset Год назад
@@jaysutton1071 beating evil with evil is not a sustainable or efficient solution. This approach can lead to a vicious cycle of violence and hatred, which can negatively affect all parties involved and perpetuate suffering and conflict. It is important to focus on finding peaceful and constructive solutions to conflicts and problems, based on understanding, empathy and negotiation. This can help us build better relationships and build a better world for all. Learning to resolve conflicts through cooperation, compassion and understanding can help reduce harm and create a more peaceful and inclusive environment for all. I am from Romania, I have had no contact with Ukrainians or Russians, but I suffer because young people die, with children; think that you too could have been born in Russia, plus, as that old man said, Ukrainians and Russians are from the same family. Peace Ukraine, defeat evil with good and you will win the Russian people, violence only leads to violence.
@jaysutton1071
@jaysutton1071 Год назад
@@PythonicMindset don’t understand why you indicate Ukraine is evil. This war started because of an erroneous statement by Russia to “denazify” Ukraine, yet Zelenskyy is Jewish! Russia entered Ukraine illegally and won’t get out and is constantly attacking. The old man said to try to talk about peace, there’s nothing to gain, because Russia is in the mindset of greed and Ukraine can’t put its guard down unless Russia completely moves out. The translation may not be perfect for the old man, but the old man is somewhat philosophical, so your interpretation is off. Also Bogdan, you aren’t understanding the Ukrainians are courageous, because they are speaking their mind, and you can see it in their comfortable body language and lack of hesitation. Ukraine allows freedom to speak, unlike Russia which now penalizes you even if you call this war, a war. Bogdan, you are very confused; I hope you are able to ultimately understand this.
@PythonicMindset

@@jaysutton1071 This is Machievelli's principle, evil must be defeated with evil; I did not say that Ukraine represents evil, but defeating Russia represents evil if it is on the battlefield, no matter how you look at the situation. I don't know what's really happening, are you Ukrainian? I'm just reading the press from Romania and it tells me that Zelenski banned the political opposition and all opposition televisions. In these conditions, what freedom of speech are you talking about?

Yes i totally agree, i watch thousands of Russian propaganda reports & 1420 & other stations & i can say with out any doubt, Russia is the most racist civilization on this earth. They mostly seem very poorly educated compared to Ukraine it is evident in every Russian interview that Russians have never developed enough to understand diplomacy, friendship or humility. Ukrainians always come across as well educated, well spoken, respectful, non racist people who have a wonderful culture & enjoy being part of the western worlds new friendships. Most Russians come across as arrogant pigs who only want wars & theft of others land & violent killing instead of peace.

I grew up in Canada ... I didn't grow up with Russians ... I did grow up with Ukrainians ... they made it clear who they were, where they were from and the older ones reminded us of Stalin and the famine that drove them to Canada. At the onset of the invasion the Winnipeg Jets had a local Ukrainian Mens Choir come and sing the Ukrainian anthem along with the Canadian anthem. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. The love that Canada has for the Ukrainian people is deep, they are a part of our fabric (especially the prairie provinces). We wish our leadership was as strong and responsible.

As a fellow Canadian I can confirm this. My family escaped Ukraine just before the Holodomor and came to Canada (i.e. this isn't the first time that Russia has brutalized Ukraine). But one doesn't have to have Ukrainian roots to sympathize with the Ukrainian people. It should be clear to anyone with a conscience that Russia must not benefit from this massive violence. The only road to peace at this point is to give Ukraine the weapons it needs to liberate itself. Slava Ukraini!

It seems from this video that in the main Ukrainians feel about Zelensky like the British felt about Winston Churchill, and that's a good thing. (Thank you Pavlo for telling me about this channel.)
@eh1702
@eh1702 Год назад
Yes. A war leader is often quite a different thing from what makes a good leader in normal times. The British were in a situation where suddenly war threatened them and nobody wanted to be Prime Minister! Churchill was not popular after some brutal put-downs of strikers in the poorer areas of Britain, and he had not distinguished himself as a member of parliament or as a government minister. Yet he had been a war correspondent really in the thick of battle. And he had a hard streak. He had the decisiveness and ability to keep going after making mistakes. Not always good in a peacetime leader. Even those who deeply disliked and distrusted him in peacetime recognised that, as a war leader, Churchill had what it takes. Zelenskyy demonstrated in the first hours of the invasion that he also has what it takes to be a war leader.

Strictly speaking, borscht was invented by the Slavs from what is now Ukraine and Poland, based on mown beets or sauerkraut and beets (sometimes sauerkraut is replaced with lemon juice - in Poland, depending on the person's preferences). There are currently two different types of borscht: 1. with many different vegetables, meat and sour cream, which in Poland everyone calls "Ukrainian borscht". Poles know it since 14th century, because of the contacts with Ruthenians from the today western and central Ukraine. Ruthenian recipe found its way into 16th-century Polish cookbooks and enriched Polish cuisine. It was called in these books "Ruthenian" or "Ukrainian" one (and several hundred years later, together with emigrants from the territory of present-day Poland and Ukraine, Ukrainian borscht also moved across the ocean. The Russians have stolen a lot from Ukrainian culture, especially since the 19th century, and they wrongly take credit for this borscht, too. 2. The second type of borscht, no less popular and tasty, but prepared differently, is the so-called "red borscht", or "pure borscht", or "Polish borscht" - equally delicious, very aromatic, coming from Poland. It is usually drunk, most often while eating special pastries. Or on a plate, with the addition of tiny dumplings with meat, cabbage or mushrooms. Its history officially dates back to the 12th century (and unofficially dates back to some more ancient times). "Red borscht" was among the dishes served in one of the oldest Polish restaurants ("Wierzynek" in Krakow, - this restaurant is still open:) However, no one has ever heard of some "Russian" borscht.

As is often mentioned, a man’s true value is displayed in emergency situations. Mr. Zelensky as a wartime president is its finest example. Without Zelensky, Ukraine may well have been Russified (eliminated) by PooTin’s RuZzia about a year ago. Moreover, he should be appreciated greatly not only for fighting against the external enemy but also for fighting against the internal enemy : corruption, which is still alive and kicking in most of the former Soviet Republics, where bureaucratic regimes developed breeding grounds for bribes and corruption, and Ukraine is no exception. Leaders who can handle such adversities are few and far between, and I think Mr. Zelensky is a once-in-a-lifetime leader.

I suspect that Zelensky's reply "I don't need a ride, I need ammunition" will end up as a historical quote, right beside Churchill's "We will fight them on he beaches" quote - only shorter, more succinct. Zelenskyy is a master of communications! He has directly addressed the ruling bodies of most western nations, and done so masterfully. He addressed the parliament of my own tiny and inconsequential nation (Iceland) and melted our collective hearts. The number of current Ukrainian refugees is now 0.7% of the population of Iceland, a tiny number in the big scheme of things, but we are doing our level best to help our visitors in their difficult situation. We fully expect most of them to be eager to return to rebuild Ukraine when the nonsense is over, but anyone that wants to remain will be welcome to do so.
